Wilson has averaged around 25 games a season across his whole career and has only managed to play a 40 game season twice. Rossiter has never managed more than 15 games a season. Both are great assets on paper but we need players not paperweights. We haven't been unlucky either, all of them have track records which says that they are unable to play a full season. You are right about Rossiter (I never realised he was so injury prone) but not on Wilson. His two seasons with plymouth totalled 49 and 46 appearances and had two consecutive 40+ seasons at oldham His career season apps is roughly 22.5 games and that is usually the judge of whether you are likely to see a full season from a player. His spell at Oldham was when he was in his early/mid 20s. At 35 the decline of a footballer is quite high as is the ability to pick up a career threatening injury especially at centre half now. Look at Paul Coutts as an example of that. I take your point about the last 2 years but it really does highlight what I am saying. If you are signing a player whos 35 on that stat average you wouldnt sign him to be your first choice defender.

It’s a gamble, but no more so than Tony Craig was and we released him too soon. I’d clearly prefer a younger player with experience but not sure who is available that would be suitable. Wilson was signed because his experience would help out a young backline and I am certain the likes of Crama and Taylor will have benefited from his presence. We Deffo didn’t need Friend though, Hunt has been a mixed bag and Woods awful

If Chris Martin leaves we should sign Troy Deeney to the end of the season. What an earth for? Yet another players whose best days are well in the past and is likely to want a hefty wage packet. We are miles away from both playoffs and bottom 4 so any signings we make need to be focussed on the future not this season. Macaulay Langstaff would be a far better signing if we can prise him out of Notts County So glad you have no influence over who we sign or release.

Macaulay Langstaff has never played at football league level until this season, he is 26 and has scored 111 goals in 230 games as a forward.
He has obvious potential ahead, but the step up to the championship IMO is huge & to come to BRFC would take the pressure off him & to develop.
Now if he came up to L1 with Notts.Co could make him deadly in our division, very much like Matty Taylor was at lower level. (bc82ltd played 75 & 9 goals)

On transfer deadline day 2023, which was the 31st January we were signing:
Aston Villa's Lamare Bogarde and Stockport County's Calum Macdonald
Bogarde, 19, joined Villa in 2020 and made his professional debut during their FA Cup campaign that season. The Dutch youth international, who came through Feyenoord's academy, has spent most of his career at Villa Park playing for their under-18s side.
Calum Macdonald joins Rovers from League Two Stockport County.. The 25-year-old left-back started his career with Derby County and has experience in League One and the National League following stints with Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers and Barrow before joining Stockport on a short deal last Autumn.

Ipswich Town: Elkan Baggott set to join Bristol Rovers on loan.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1819B/production/_125451789_shutterstock_editorial_12894301bf.jpgIpswich Town defender Elkan Baggott is set to join League One club Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the season. Academy graduate Baggott, 21, has made 7 senior appearances for the Blues - 5 of them in cup competitions. He got plenty of minutes on loan at League Two club Gillingham in the first half of last season, but only made one appearance at League One club Cheltenham after a mid-season switch. Having just returned from Asian Cup action with Indonesia, he will join a Bristol Rovers side who are currently 11th in the third-tier. Baggott will play under the management of former Exeter and Rotherham boss Matt Taylor. Young centre-half Elkan made his senior debut for Ipswich Town against Gillingham in the EFL Trophy in October 2020, having come through the club’s academy. He spent the rest of that season on loan with King’s Lynn Town, before returning to Portman Road for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign and ultimately starting two league games at the end of the campaign under manager Kieran McKenna. He split the 2022/23 season between loan spells with Gillingham and Cheltenham Town. Elkan is a full Indonesian international, making his debut for his country in November 2021 in Afghanistan and scoring his first goal later that year, heading home against Malaysia.

Rumours that Sheff Weds are showing interest in Connor Taylor. A major loss if he goes but probably one of a few of our players worth close to the £1M mark.

Harry Vaughan midfield loan Hull.
Hull fans seem to rate him more highly than Woods.
