Many Thanks to the 3 gasheads who kindly provided 6 match day seat tickets for my daughter and family so they can attend the Boxing day match. They are normally working or busy with swimming etc so this will be their first of the season in fact first since the Cheltenham Town match last Boxing day.
My grand kids have only seen Rovers five times and never seen them lose so hopefully that run can continue. I told them it's unlikely they will win 7 0 like the Scunthorpe match!
They are so excited and so should we all be. 750 Pompey fans should help the atmosphere. I suggest getting there early
Merry Christmas to all all even shoveler who believes I post fake news
Ps Pompey have lost just once this season 4 0 at home by Blackpool in November. Its a perfect opportunity to add a second defeat to their record. am predicting a 3 2 Rovers win with Collins Marquis and Vale. Evans has performed brilliantly in recent games and would Hooe we can hang onto him come January

Can someone else create a real match day thread that tees up a discussion about the opposition, potential Gas lineup and informed opinions about game? Ta!

Two seats in the East stand are now available, althought emthey're not together. There's one othe in pinky red, the meaning of which is not explained in any key or legend I've found. If you want informed opinions, I think you're asking a lot of some of us.

My conclusion is - as it only displays Adult Price, £36, it means it can only be bought and used for an adult. I.e not child or concession.

Seasons greetings!
Possibly the toughest match of season, but with every posed outcome comes unexpected opposites.
We have a pressure free fixture, so if everyone expects us to lose, anything more is a bonus.
Pompey lose at home to a Blackpool side on the rampage, a team we matched for 45 mins until our fragile defence imploded....yet we still created opportunities. Which is encouraging. Then, a draw at home to Fleetwood (who I'm reliably informed "came at us and gave it a go"). Dominating wins v Shrewsbury and Northampton propel them where they are....but I remember the first match in that drenching of a game in August where we almost clung on for 3 points.
MT should still be in the process of working on his best player formula.
There are many factors that make this fixture not so easy to predict.
The key is having experienced defenders available, so I would suggest Wilson and Taylor combo at the back is imperitive for a positive outcome. For me, Kramer, Grant, Hoole, Cox are either too mistake prone, inexperienced and not confidence inspiring for such a high profile match, where everyone has to be at their very best and beyond to stand a chance of achieving anything. Oh for a wish to get Friend and Hunt back to full fitness. We simply don't have quality strength in depth at the back.
We will create opportunities, it's up to us to convert them. I would plonk 2 up front today and go for it. Maybe Martin partnership with Marquis...? I would also keep 1 up on their set pieces, aim to defend higher up the pitch and man mark that Colby fella. Plus, Finley needs to keep his head and act like the captain he is.
There is a result in there somewhere. If we get our homework correct and execute it the right way..
Sticking neck out as it's pantomime season: Gas 1-0 is possible. Sprouts and stuffing taking effect. Surely we're due of all controversy v Pompey to go our way for a change?
Enjoy the match wherever you are!

All for a miserly tenner. So why no 3pm blackout for live streaming? Happy, St. Stephen's Day, everyone. #UpTheROVERS

0-0 HT.
Strange game where both teams failed to get going.
Can't help but feel Pompey are only in 2nd gear and they will come out stronger in the second half.
We have played ok but we will need to be at the very top of our game to get something from this game.

Last fifteen minutes commentary, and 0-0 at half time, both sound alright. Come on Taylor, set us up to beat the top team in the division at the Memorial Ground.
Edit: One-nil Anthony Evans free-kick?

Ah, rubbish, one one. We need to respond. No complaints regarding BBC commentary from me.

Thought a win was on the cards but poor defending ok lets us down.
May well be a sending off for Portsmouth before this game is over.
