I was there that day. Special train from Temple Meads and David Williams travelled with us. We thumped them 5-1 in the home game with 5 different players scoring I think. We were pretty invincible at Eastville under Williams in those days Two Pompey fans were in the Tote End that day. When Portsmouth scored their solitary goal, they started jumping up and down in celebration. They took a real beating, until the police got hold of them and dragged them to safety.

Oh bloody hell, the three of us were all set to attend this. I'd better check though, coming as this news does from Mike 'fake news' Jay. Edit: he's not lying, this time; I've missed the boat. We need to build: there must be plenty of Gasheads who just turn up on matchdays hoping when the football's appealing. If you go on the official ticket site there appears to be a few dozen tickets available. Thatchers mainly. I got my seat for the East Stand. Should be a great atmosphere.

A few in the Thatchers, and fewer still elsewhere. I had to register an account, which I did, but then trying to use it, upon 'proceed to checkout', I'm told 'There are errors on the page. Unfortunately, one or more items in your basket is assigned to a newly registered client, which is not allowed.' What's that about, and how do I get round it?

I wonder if it’s some catch in place to stop away fans registering and buying home tickets. Maybe someone quickly verifies your details? I would suggest trying again in the morning or even calling the club. Failing that I’d be happy to buy some tickets on your behalf and transfer them to you. Let me know how it goes.

It looks like other clubs use the same ticketing system and sometimes they don’t allow newly registered accounts to purchase tickets. I would give one of the numbers here a call tomorrow to try buy over the phone or even swing by the club shop if you can - www.bristolrovers.co.uk/club/club-contacts--company-details/

Thanks, mate, my google searching found similar outcomes at QPR, Millwall, and Arsenal. It does seem that once one end is sold out, the few renaining are under embargo so only sold to known regulars, and since I haven't been that since before Rovers gave ticketing to ticketmaster, and had to register my account this evening, I don't pass. I will try the club in the morning. Do I have to show them my quarters, or talk more Bristolian?

Just had a look at the stadium map for Portsmouth and seems only a couple left on North and West terraces.

I'll miss out by the time I'm in the West Country. What a shame, again. Edit: I already have. There's now one single seat in the West stand available!

FA disciplinary committee has fined both Rovers and Portsmouth £2500:00 for a confrontation on the pitch during their Boxing day game. Coming after Arron Collins had been pole axed only minutes after Rovers players Evans had given Rovers the lead,( Bristol live)

It states BRFC and PFC ,for failure to control their players,so the clubs as opposed to the players..

Shocking, I was going to say tackle but it was an assault.

I meant the collective reaction. The tackle was a yellow and final warning, which every yellow should be: this leniency towards players already booked is silly. I do favour the sin bin and review used now in rugby.
