Good to hear every ticket now sold for the long awaited Portsmouth match on Boxing day. Always great to get out the house and watch a fixture on 26 December
An urgent personal appeal My daughter and kids looking for four seats good price paid.
My grandkids were hoping the new South stand would be opened but alas apparently its just for season ticket holders.
Pm me if you can help with tickets and make my grandkids Christmas.

Oh bloody hell, the three of us were all set to attend this.
I'd better check though, coming as this news does from Mike 'fake news' Jay.
Edit: he's not lying, this time; I've missed the boat. We need to build: there must be plenty of Gasheads who just turn up on matchdays hoping when the football's appealing.

Why oh why would I promote fake news you seem to have a problem with me I give up. I called into Rovers shop yesterday at 11am on my way to Southmead hospital have my pet scan and girl in shop said she sold the last 2 tickets.

No problem, Mike. I just needed to check, as too often you start Gas Guzzler threads with fake news in order to, as you say, wind us up. I checked and found that, on this occasion, it wasn't nonsense you'd made up for attention.

With all due respect you have admitted yourself you like a wind up, so it is not easy to differentiate between that and you being serious. Having said that, best wishes with your health issues and I do enjoy reading your books.

Hope we sing well v Pompey.Fav' chants were both involving keepers. At Nuneaton they had a loanee from Barnsley who was VERY Ginger.Wore a pink top so the chant,'Ginger and Pink ,your'e 'avin a laugh' remains long in the memory. Also at Twerton Crewe brought their sub keeper on following an injury and he had an amazing Rasta hairstyle,so the inevitable'He's got a pineapple on his head' rang out. Most vociferous was our away support at Morecambe( Eliot Richards scored in a 1-1 draw) and I'll never forget us losing at Burton when we had a middle aged chap who was an opera singer!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favourites was at Portsmouth in about 1982. The “One little fat one” chant to the short rotund copper much to the amusement of his mates.
We lost the game 1-0 and iirc Alan Biley scored the winner. Always disliked mullet wearers. None more so than the gurning sack of s**t aka Glynn Riley

29th August 1989, while on holiday in the Isle of Wight, I took the ferry over to Portsmouth to watch us play them in the League Cup.
First time I'd ever travelled overseas to watch the Rovers.
We lost 2-0 after being 1-0 up in the first leg.

I'm really gutted we're not able to go this Boxing Day, the Memorial Ground having sold out. Boxing Day football was a fond family tradition, and we never used to need to buy in advance, previously just showing up with cash at the East Terrace turnstiles twenty-or-thirty minutes before kickoff; I suppose this was years ago, now. I was planning on buying our tickets in advance, but on Friday, not a week ago. The Memorial Ground really needs a higher capacity.

We were pretty invincible at Eastville under Williams in those days

We thumped them 5-1 in the home game with 5 different players scoring I think. We were pretty invincible at Eastville under Williams in those days Bobby Gould was manager then, David Williams travelled with us as he was an injured player. DW was injured, however the reason that he travelled on the special train was to give out letters from the football club to each person on the train regarding the trouble at Reading in the previous away match and asking for a return " to the usual travelling Bristol Rovers supporters standards"..... DW was accompanied on the train by officials from the club,it was a debacle, most people screwed their letters up and threw them on the floor as they were handed them,I felt sorry for DW,he should never have been put in that position,I kept my letter (although I hadnt been at that Reading match) and I have it in the programme from that day.... I am sure that this was the first time that a player had been on a special train with supporters since the return journey from Fulham (the first R.A.T.S special train) and the unfortunate incident that occurred. The "one little fat one" was funny,I did feel a bit a bit sorry for the bloke, but he did give us a wave afterwards. Biley was a great player,I saw a picture of him a few years after he finished playing, same haircut but as fat as a house.
