Good marketing and fantastic for the kids from Whitby.

My sister lives in Yate and years ago we had a take out from Pisces. It was excellent. It's a loss to Yate, the recent demise of Pisces. I think the guy retired, selling up to Frydays, although I never met him on Saturdays when I was always served excellent haddock and chips by his fine team of youngsters. Here in Holdbrook, Lee Valley, we lost our lovely (Turkish but so very English) Fish House when the price of both potatoes and then much worse energy bills went through the roof.

'Much-loved' Pisces fish and chip bar in Yate to close after 64 years..Report from Thursday 31st March 2022The family who have run one of the 'most-loved' fish and chip shops in South Gloucestershire have officially announced they will close after 64 years. Pisces, in Yate, first opened on Station Road in 1958 but the family had already been running the shop from another location in the town for 10 years. It is owned by Kip and Julia Holbrook, who bought it from Kip's parents in 1988 to keep it in the family. Their daughter Juki now also helps them with the running of the shop. The shop has always supported the community and offered a regular food delivery service to homes for the elderly in the area. s3-media0.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/DY6REgBuUJob0idmNbhjMQ/l.jpgs3-media0.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/HYgfSVdGnwA2F888wZkAMg/l.jpgKip and Julia said they have enjoyed serving the people of Yate but after serving fish and chips for decades, it is time for them to take their retirement. "After 64 years of serving fish and chips to our community, it is with great sadness that we are to close on March 31", they said. "We would like to thank you all for your custom, it going to be difficult saying goodbye to so many of our wonderful regulars. "We would also like to thank staff past and present, without you, Pisces wouldn't have been the friendly welcoming place it has been all of these years."

Not only have I walked past Pisces in Yate (usually en route from Spirals back to Winterbourne - oh, that's a trek and a half), Holdbrook is but a stones throw from Epping to the Lee Valley.

Spirals, those were the days, i had my 21st birthday party there on the same evening as the England v Morocco 0-0 draw in the 1986 hand of god W.C. That was the game Ray Wilkins got sent off, Morocco finished top of group F with England in 2nd place...still recall it was like it happened yesterday.

My abiding memory of that game is Wilkins coming right up to the camera and yelling at the ball boy to f**k off. Cheered his red card as he was an anchor on that team with his sideways and backwards passing. Think Peter Reid was brought into the side to replace him after which England improved immeasurably

The seventh-tier Seasiders reached the first round proper by knocking out Goole, Prescot Cables, Morpeth and Chelmsford City. In addition to prize money, the long trip south also brings a share of the gate receipts at the Memorial Stadium. "Bonus money is how the club looks at it," Haslam told BBC Radio Tees. "It allows to maybe improve the pitch, get equipment for the pitch, and certainly through the bleak months where we're not going to have much of an income with home games getting called off, it gives us that lifeline to keep operating in the way we would like, "At this moment in time it's money we badly need, and if you can advance into the next round then you go into real serious money which would allow us to really progress the club." Rovers are 15th in League One, with 19 points from 14 games so far and recently parted company with Joey Barton as manager.

Used to buy his tropical fish from Parkers Aquatic Centre. Apparently not a bad chap. But one not to get on the wrong side of, to put it mildly.

Badly affected by rheumatoid arthritis now. Full of funny stories

Spirals. Loved it. From alternative nights on Thursdays to getting hammered on weekends.

Barnsley have been dismissed the FA Cup this season for fielding an ineligible player in their replay against Horsham, a game they won 3-0.. Horsham will now play Sutton United in round 2

Horsham will now play Sutton United in round 2 Omg that's bad for Sutton who were hoping for a massive tyke invasion So don't you think that Horsham will travel in numbers from just about 40 miles away as opposed to Barnsley traveling some 200 .miles en masse, and with ticket limitations I wouldn't have thought it would be much different...other than home support not wanting to see a lower league club rather than someone above them
