Woods quality tonight.
It not getting the Vale love in, he may be a decent player in his favourite position but he got absolutely roasted at left back in the 1st half and it was only the sending off that stopped that.
I'm expecting Oxford will hammer that area of the pitch on Saturday. I'd prefer to see hoole back DMD maybe swap sides with Hunt.

Not Rovers related but a game was called off as a fan needed treatment, Leyton Orient 1 Lincoln City 0, abandoned after 82 mins...ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/57A0/production/_131323422_gettyimages-1704947801.jpgTuesday's League One match between Leyton Orient and Lincoln City was abandoned after 82 minutes following a medical emergency in the crowd. Stewards initially raced over to an area at the front of the East Stand at Brisbane Road with some home fans calling for play to be stopped. The match kept going for a few minutes while the supporter was being treated, before one fan ran on to try to alert referee Stephen Martin. The game continued until around 20 Orient supporters sat on the pitch at the home end as CPR continued on the fan and play was finally halted. Orient were leading 1-0 at the time through Joe Pigott's 10th-minute goal. The decision to abandon the game was announced at 22:25 BST, almost an hour after the match was paused, with medics still attending to the supporter. "This evening's match will not be restarted due to the ongoing medical emergency in the East Stand," an Orient statement said. "All of our hopes are prayers are with the supporter and his loved ones at this incredibly distressing time." ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/A5C0/production/_131323424_gettyimages-1704948694.jpg

Bristol Rovers 3-0 Port Vale recap: Rocket from Jevani Brown secures three points for the Gas..By Daniel Hargraves
Bristol Rovers beat Port Vale 3-0 at the Mem thanks to goals from Luke McCormick, Jack Hunt and Jevani Browni2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8799957.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_JS311906194.jpgBristol Rovers returned to winning ways against 10-man Port Vale on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 victory at the Mem to make it 15 points from the Gas' opening 10 matches in League One. Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Peterborough United was brushed aside quickly with the victory Rovers' third in four games. An entertaining start to the match saw the hosts land the first blow with Luke McCormick heading in a delightful cross from Jevani Brown before Jesse Debrah saw a second yellow card with the Valiants going down to 10 men. Right-back Jack Hunt propped up at the perfect time to convert another impressive delivery, this time from Aaron Collins, in first half stoppage time with the defender now netting in back-to-back home matches. Vale manager Andy Crosby made four changes at half time and the visitors came out the better of the two sides but any concerns that they would get themselves back into the game were extinguished when Brown curled a stunner into the top-right corner to open his account for the club.

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Port Vale..By Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8802263.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS311922592.jpgMatt Cox - 8 A couple of decent saves to keep out Port Vale and a clean sheet. Excellent night for the young goalkeeper. Jack Hunt (Lewis Gordon 90') - 9 After a disappointing display at Peterborough on Saturday, the right-back returned to the Mem with another stellar display at home, scoring again whilst providing an assist as well. Added to that, a clean sheet with it sometimes easy to forget that Hunt is a defender with the 32-year-old so impressive in the final third. What a signing he's proving to be. Connor Taylor - 8 A clean sheet and another monstrous display at the back, the young defender has taken his opportunity so impressively. When James Wilson and Tristan Crama return, you would have to say the 21-year-old keeps his spot. Composed and colossal. Josh Grant (Luca Hoole 86') - 7 Also getting a clean sheet, the makeshift defender is doing his part amidst this injury crisis at the back. Missed out on a few headers against a very physical Port Vale side but impressive on the whole again. Harvey Vale - 7 Similarly to Grant, it's easy to forget the youngster is playing out of position. Another solid outing for the 20-year-old who has taken his chance in the side and some. To keep out Lewis Gordon, a natural left-back, is some feat. Ryan Woods - 7 Despite getting kicked all game, the midfielder managed to stay composed and had an impressive evening upon his return to the starting line up. A great passer from deep, the Hull City loanee looked to break the lines constantly and was good value in the middle of the park. Lamare Bogarde - 7 Similarly to his display at Peterborough, the youngster was classy on the ball with some lovely runs but also showed tenacity to put some decent diving challenges in with Port Vale getting a taste of what they were giving Rovers at times from the Aston Villa loanee, Really enjoyable to watch this kid. Luke McCormick (Antony Evans 62') - 7 A surprise inclusion in the starting line up with Sam Finley's injury unknown of prior to kick-off but the midfielder was excellent. Scored the opening goal with a header but, prior to that, he had been a livewire, linking up play and being a handful for the Port Vale defence. Well in with a shout for another start at Oxford United on Saturday. Jevani Brown (Scott Sinclair 86') - 8 Up until his goal, the comment was going to be there could have been more from Brown but an assist and a goal, a screamer at that, you can't ask for much more from your attacking players. The cross which provided the assist for McCormick's goal was exquisite and the finish for the goal was stunning. Playing on the right-wing, the summer signing was again playing out of position but still managed to show his creative quality in spells. A couple of touches went astray, the same for passes, but still there were some examples of the individual quality that made him one of the league's best players last season. Once it fully clicks, Rovers could well have a monster at their disposal. Aaron Collins - 7 Like Brown, the forward produced an excellent cross to assist Hunt's goal and was electric at times, yet it still felt as though there could have been more from the Gas man. On occasion the 26-year-old found himself in space to carry the ball up the pitch on the counter but more often than not opted to keep the ball instead of pass when a man was free. Also had a great late chance to score but pulled it wide. There definitely could have been more from Collins. Chris Martin (James Gibbons 86') - 6 The striker will be frustrated he didn't score but, having made his first competitive appearance in almost five months on Saturday and starting tonight, he can be pleased with his contribution. Some really neat touches and shrewd centre-forward play offered an encouraging start in blue-and-white quarters, particularly when considering John Marquis will now miss four to six weeks with a broken hand. Substitutes:Antony Evans (for McCormick 62') - 5 A few nice touches but struggled to really get himself into the game. Scott Sinclair (for Brown 86') - N/A Came on too late to make an impact. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8802373.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS311922008.jpg Bristol Rovers manager Joey B***** applauds the home fans

Just got back..
A crisp night under the floods at Mem, nice to see some of you with trepidation pre match, replaced by smiles post match..
The new build lean to is coming on nicely..
Anyhoos....onto something less important: Some things I noticed last night, did you?
First of all massive respect to the travelling band of merry men from Burslem, a nice healthy following and made some noise. I ventured on their forum as a lurker, some of their fans think we are average side....but with marquis, martin and collins up front, that could be significant this season.
Second of all their manager.... apparently we were completely dominated first half! ? Hmmmmm.... Wrapped up with that is our friend Connor Ripley. First spotted having genuine banter away at Salford in '21, then taking control and alerting medical staff when one of our own collapsed in away end ... nice to see the rapport there with our very own new Tote End.
Thirdly, a lot of pre match speculation around the starting line up, most of it didn't appear to ring true, although I saw Harvey Vale (gosh this could get confusing) try his best against his lively opponent, but even though he had a good game against him, a wilier adversary will pick his pocket one day. Good game for HV.
Fourthly, excellent contribution from JG our new skip....I thought he done an admirable job. Amazing few months for him after he was almost forgotten 6 months ago.
Fifthly.....gotta say it, again, CT was magnificent. A captain and skipper and model professional in the waiting. He could do it now! Given m o m by the fans, nice touch, but my personal m o m was Aaza whom just seemed to pick up those empty spaces and run through a like a knife... excellent assist, should've scored 2. Ran around like a gazelle at times, stretched their defence, created space, covered an area larger than an aircraft hangar and still has his wonderful supercilious grin about him - he just loves his football and freedom to express himself. These are the best of times for him! Second m o m and deserves a mention as Jervani Brown... deserved his goal and assist. Good, solid performance.
Sixthly. Did anyone else see Jack Hunt go up for the port vale huddle on injury, only to be pushed away!? Haha! Hilarious! We are adopting a cheekiness about us. The game is there for entertainment, the love in pass between 2 players multiples of times, the back heels, the dummies pass and shots.... we're Bristol Rovers, we're taking the p!ss.....not sure it's wholly appropriate though?
Seventhly, on similar issues.....you rarely see a " cheerio " on sending off involving the west stand, boxes and kids running to the tunnel!? Haha! Nice choreography, everyone.
So.....to sum up, a welcome 3 points from a declining PV that we took full advantage of. They say they don't have enough strikers (no one knows how long Lofty is out), but then I don't understand why they finished the match with more strikers on the pitch with 10 men?
Good night all around. Nice football played.

The man received treatment in the East Stand of the Brisbane Road stadium during the second half of the match. Medics arrived within four minutes of being called at 21:28 BST to treat an unwell supporter in the stands. About 20 fans ran on to the pitch to alert referee Stephen Martin to the incident and urge him to halt the game. The match was eventually paused for an hour before being abandoned, with 82 minutes having been played. "We were called yesterday at 21:28 to reports of a person becoming unwell at Leyton Orient Football Club, on Brisbane Road," a London Ambulance Service spokesperson told BBC Sport. "We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, two medics in fast-response cars and an ambulance crew. "Our first medic arrived in approximately four minutes. We treated a man at the scene, but very sadly, despite our teams' best efforts, he was later pronounced dead."

I thought the bantz with CR has always been cordial as he gives as good as he gets. We have a love in with him. A decent Keep and one brilliant save from Azza as that was curling and dipping in..

Interesting to see in tonight's match day programme the Pirate that Ryan Loft is in both squads!! Also in the programme: We've Got History - previous meetings with today's opponents ... which purportedly shows a couple of photos of Rovers v Vale from the 60s, but the article goes on to talk about fixtures between Rovers and Wigan Athletic! I also notice our commercial team aren't doing too well selling shirt sponsorship. The 2023/24 sponsors lists: - 30 players. - 3 players with both home & away kit sponsored. - 4 players with only either one of home or away kit sponsored. - 23 players without any sponsorship, - 5 different sponsors. Is it worth doing this anymore??

We tried to sign him in the summer I believe. Think he would be a good fit here and would quickly become a fans favourite. Really good keeper and all round decent bloke imho. He shaved his head for Nick Anderton too.

Dare I say it but the commercial manager was I'm told deliberately unhelpful so some failed to renew their sponsorship

Having looked at the goals again, am I missing something by thinking there is a good case for the first one being offside especially if their striker gets a touch (looks like there may have been a faint one)?

I could be wrong though. There was a disconnect along the way though

(!) Makes you wonder if all the changes were for the best of the club, or nepotistic CEO?
