It's four days before a league one fixture, Sheffield Wednesday Vs The Gas in December 2010. I'm having a trawl through the Owls forum and besides a few bits of usual 'banter' flying about, one Wednesday fan goes in heavy with;
"Bristol Rovers are the club that football forgot!"
Obviously that didn't go down well with visitors of their forum, or even our own. I mean, we were doing poorly at the time, but what would you give for 20th in league one compared to what we have today!? I just hope the user in question doesn't remember said comment, otherwise he will be one smirking son of a bitch right now!
Thankfully ive just about tuned in to conference life, even following the fateful trips to Barnet & Altrincham! So bring on Halifax this Saturday, it'll be interesting to see what the (current) best in this league are all about!

Bristol, the city that football forgot really, cant think of any other biggish city with two teams who have so both underachieved in the last thirty years, and probably will carry on doing the same, sad really when you look at the success some smaller cities have had.

Bristol, the city that football forgot really, cant think of any other biggish city with two teams who have so both underachieved in the last thirty years, and probably will carry on doing the same, sad really when you look at the success some smaller cities have had. Can't argue with this, look at Blackburn and Burnley, populations of 105000 and 73000 respectively and both regularly have 25-30% of their 'fan base' turning out for home games and both achieve so much on the field. If either Bristol club had support like thus they'd be flying, but it just isn't that important in relatively wealthy and prosperous Bristol. No real passion for football unless there's plenty of deprivation.
