In other news. Mrs Jones's cat was rescued from a tree in lower Kidlington, Gloucestershire. In a quite shocking revelation a local news reporter suggested that nobody was actually interested. Les, Now you must be old enough and ugly enough to know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.. Also Les, just for you, as the great Oscar Wilde said "but the highest form of intelligence.”

Also Les, just for you, as the great Oscar Wilde said "but the highest form of intelligence.” It's all relative isn't it. Mindless, repetitive and boring posts look even sillier when compared with a post that contains a considered opinion on a topic of relevance and interest and contains a degree of supporting evidence. I guess we could, perhaps, judge that criteria by the number of actual responses to any post made. But that leaves open the question, why?

You know me Les, i will always respond to your meaningless, tiresome and quite frankly my dear Les uninteresting reposts... But hey Les, don't let the facts blur any vision you may have upon a post that does not need a reply only to be overscrupulous.. It is almost the midnight hour Les, that great Michael Caine movie Zulu is loaded and ready, like my milk and cookies, nighty night Les, sleep tight...

Brentford condemn ‘vile harassment’ of striker Ivan Toney on social media..by Mark Mann-Bryans. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/07/11/80958925-13055723-Ivan_Toney_has_recently_returned_to_action_following_an_eight_mo-a-17_1707306191328.jpgBrentford have condemned the “vile harassment” of Ivan Toney after the England striker was the target of online racist abuse. The Premier League club also labelled the response of social media companies to such incidents as “underwhelming”. Toney, 27, has previously received racist comments on Instagram posts and Brentford are now calling for more to be done after another case occurred. “We are angered and frustrated to report that Ivan Toney has been subjected to racist abuse on Instagram once more,” a club statement read. “We have initiated investigations into this vile harassment which we condemn in the strongest terms. “Sadly, this isn’t the first time Ivan has had to deal with this. A similar incident occurred just four weeks ago, leading us to identify an alleged perpetrator whom we reported to the authorities. To date, we have yet to see any action taken against that individual.” The Bees called for anyone found to have posted racist comments to be prosecuted and help bring an end to such incidents in the future. “In general, the response from social media platforms to these ongoing issues has been underwhelming,” the statement continued. “Their solutions, such as filters to simply hide the abuse may safeguard the players, but miss the mark entirely and do not discourage the offenders. Without real consequences for those responsible, the cycle is doomed to repeat. “We do have faith that things can change. We appreciate the dialogue that we have with the likes of Meta but we call for more decisive and urgent action to combat online hate. We call for prompt investigations, and importantly, we call for criminal prosecutions. “We will continue to work with the authorities and the Premier League and to support our players as we tackle this awful online abuse.” i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/12/20/07/79161659-12884513-image-a-5_1703056963989.jpgMeta said there was no place for racism on any of its platforms and reiterated the ways it is trying to counter abuse. “No one should have to experience racist abuse, and we don’t want it on our apps,” a Meta spokesperson told the PA news agency. “We’ve developed several ways to help protect people from having to see abuse including Hidden Words, which filters offensive comments and DMs and Limits, which hides comments and DMs from people who don’t follow you or only followed you recently. “We know no one thing will fix abusive behaviour, but we’re committed to continuing working closely with the football industry to help keep our apps a safe place for footballers and fans.” Toney’s one and only England cap to date came in a Euro 2024 qualifying win over Ukraine last year and the national side posted on X, formerly Twitter, in support of the player. “It is incredibly disappointing that Ivan Toney has been subject to racial abuse on social media again,” the England account posted. “This behaviour must have consequences, and we support strong action by the authorities and social media companies.” A Kick It Out statement read: “Brentford’s Ivan Toney is among a long list of players who’ve been racially abused this season whether online or in stadiums. “In addition to the trauma they’ve suffered, the players all want the same thing: action. That comes in the form of prosecutions, or bans or even education. But if nothing happens, other abusers are emboldened to do the same thing, or worse. “We need more positive outcomes to these incidents from clubs, from leagues, from governing bodies and from the police. We work hard with them all to underline this message, but we ask that they all show how often they bring people to justice. We need more transparency.”

Jordan Garrick: Fan jailed after racially abusing Forest Green Rovers player..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/E4BD/production/_131575585_footballfan.jpg.webpA football fan who racially abused Forest Green's Jordan Garrick has been jailed for 9 months. Ryan Ferguson, 24, of Liverpool, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment towards Jordan Garrick, failing to comply with a football banning order and resisting a police constable at Forest Green Rovers' League One clash with Fleetwood in April last year. Douglas Mackay, the Crown Prosecution Service Sports National lead prosecutor, said: "Ferguson's actions were vile and something that none of us should ever experience at a football match - whether that be fans, staff, police or indeed the players themselves. "The sentence that has been passed today should serve as a wake-up call to any fans who think it might be acceptable to break the law during matches." The Black Footballers Partnership, the organisation set up to be a strategic voice and support for Black footballers, said the sentence shows the game needs to do better to support Black players. "Black excellence on the pitch has driven up participation numbers and lessened the amount of overtly racist chanting on the terraces, so that events like those discussed today stand out more," said Delroy Corinaldi, the BFP executive director. "However, while black excellence on the pitch pushes the overt racists to the margins, the ignorance it personifies can only be excised when black footballers become visible as black managers, coaches, board members and owners. "It ends when the clubs and their representative bodies properly tackle the institutional barriers to black success off the pitch." A PFA spokesperson added: "It's absolutely vital that members see that there will be serious consequences for those who racially abuse players. "The start of this process is often a member making the decision to tell the officials or to stop a game so that they can report an incident. That takes bravery. "If players are the ones who are asked to start that process, they have to have confidence that the authorities with the power to do so are going to then finish it."

Great that this racist tory donor has got Abbott back in the news, she has been quiet for a long time .....since being suspended for racism ! Did anyone see her yesterday ? up and down in her seat like an ugly jack in the box. Apparently she is the MP who receives the most threats but the only time she has had to ring 999 was when her nutty son went berserk and chased her around the house with a knife, she said she was frightened, she had good reason to be frightened he got done with 12 assaults and racially motivated criminal damage....no custodial sentence !...one person he bit had to have 6 months off work and tests for HIV.

I bet he doesn't even realise it

Stuart Webber: Ex-Norwich sporting director condemned by anti-racism campaign groups over comments..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/A47E/production/_133001124_gettyimages-1353813173.jpg Stuart Webber left his role as Norwich's sporting director in November 2023Anti-racism campaign groups have condemned "disgraceful" comments made by ex-Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber about five black footballers. Webber said in an interview with the Pink Un the players might have ended up "in jail" or "something else" had they not become professional footballers. The 39-year-old referred to Raheem Sterling, Abu Kamara, Jonathan Rowe, Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis all by name. Kick It Out's Troy Townsend said the comments were "absolutely disgraceful". BBC Sport has contacted Webber for comment and understands he has called and messaged the players in question, and their families, to personally apologise. Webber was speaking to the Pink Un about climbing Mount Everest for the Summit Foundation, a charity he founded with his wife. The charity says on its website it "aims to create awareness and opportunities for young people to help them achieve their potential". "We want to help the guys who really need it, not the ones who are maybe privileged. I saw that with our young footballers," said Webber, who was also Liverpool's director of recruitment. "Jonny Rowe wouldn't mind me saying it but him, Abu Kamara, Max (Aarons), Jamal (Lewis), Raheem (Sterling) back in the day at Liverpool, where they come from it had to work out for them in football, because the alternative is potentially jail or something else." Townsend, head of development at Kick It Out, told BBC Sport: "A former Norwich City sporting director has just casually racially profiled five professional footballers, including some current and former Norwich players." In a statement, the body added Webber's comments were "deeply offensive and concerning". It continued: "To read such callous language being used by someone who until recently was a senior executive at the top of the English game paints a very damning picture. "Resorting to lazy stereotyping is clearly upsetting for those who have been targeted, but also shows a complete lack of respect for their families, who have played a huge part in the journeys that the players have been on." Kick It Out said it would also be contacting Norwich City "for their observations". Ged Grebby, chief executive of anti-racism education charity Show Racism the Red Card, added: "We hold sessions on stereotyping and it sounds like Stuart Webber would benefit from attending one of those courses after making these comments. "It is a reminder of the challenge that football faces to eradicate institutional racism from the game on the pitch and in the boardroom." BBC Sport understands defender Aarons, now at Bournemouth, is angered, frustrated and saddened by the comments. Striker Kamara, currently on loan at Portsmouth, said he and his family were "deeply saddened and shocked" by the comments. "You don't have to be a professional athlete to avoid living a life of crime," added the 20-year-old. "You can be whatever you want to be as long as you work hard, believe in yourself and be consistent in what you do."

Must not stereotype people..a pub manager who had problems with Travellers could not refuse to serve Travellers...but I know pubs that refuse to serve football supporters,I dont blame them but it does seem contradictory .
