Bookies (generally): Gas 11/10 Draw 5/2 Lincoln 9/4 Is it true Rovers have only won 2 home games in 2023? Yes, New Years Day and Good Friday. To be fair the record on Bank Holidays has been impressive. Well done Barton.

I suppose we should be grateful for a draw at home against a team pushing for promotion.

Final score 1-1.
Well it's not a loss but it wasn't pretty and it was mostly very frustrating
After a marginally improved first half we reverted to form in the second. That's to say loads of possession, lots of huff and puff but few real opportunities created.
Our passes in the final third were so poor a forward line full of JCH's would have made little difference.
71% Possession which may please Barton but it just makes it more frustrating for Gasheads.
Another disappointment on the field following a massive disappointment off it.

It's time for Barton to go I think. Should have gone after the Scunny game. That way he could have left on a high rather than the slow miserable drawn out suffering we are experiencing now

A frustrating afternoon summed up when the most unlikely Rovers player bundles the ball over the line for the draw, it twas lucky he was so far forward that he could only send the ball in the all important direction, i’m grateful for that. Thought we would have performed today, was expecting a solid win, we lack composure and confidence in the final third, actually I don’t think we know what to do in the final third.

Super to see that we've got around losing the Big Screen with the new temporary Scoreboard.
Don't think I'd have spotted it, if it hadn't been pointed out to me.
Quite a clever way to get around the problem.

Stats: BRFC 1 Lincoln City 1 - Possession: 71% - 29% - Shots: 11-12 - On Target: 3-5 - Corners: 7-5 - Referee: Lewis Smith prod-media.beinsports.com/image/1693674114784_5fa1d00a-43a2-4169-b536-e32cf321260e.1080.jpgBristol Rovers remain without a home win in League One despite clawing back a point against Lincoln in an entertaining 1-1 draw. Substitute Josh Grant's header in the fourth minute of stoppage time saw the hosts equalise late in the game when the 24-year-old met an Antony Evans corner. Lincoln took the lead in the 53rd minute through captain Adam Jackson when he bundled home from close range after goalkeeper Matt Cox had palmed out an Ethan Erhahon volley into a crowded area. The Rovers players claimed that there had been a handball in the build-up when the ball came off Alistair Smith, but referee Lewis Smith disagreed and Jackson capitalised as the ball broke to him. The home side dominated possession and territory for much of the game, but failed to make the most of several first-half chances. Jackson blocked a low Aaron Collins effort after Luke Thomas' good run after 15 minutes, and Sean Roughan's sliding challenge stopped Collins volleying home in the 32nd minute.

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Lincoln City as Gas secure late point..by Daniel Hargraves.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/47/Bristol_Rovers_F.C._logo.svg/200px-Bristol_Rovers_F.C._logo.svg.png
Matt Cox - 6 The goalkeeper made a good save before the Lincoln goal and denied a potential second soon after. It's very clear he's comfortable with the ball at his feet and he came out to make some solid claims. In terms of improvement, it appears that the main area is deciding when to punch away clearances or go for the catch. There were one or two occasions where the 20-year-old punched the ball and it went back straight to a Lincoln player, which could have caused further danger. Jack Hunt - 6 It was another solid display from the right-back as he imbeds himself into the Bristol Rovers team. The right-back wasn't afraid to put in a tackle with some deemed to hard by the officials and also made himself available going forwards with a few crosses. Tenacious at both ends, there's little doubt now that the 32-year-old will be first-choice for the forseeable. Tristan Crama - 6 Another game where the youngster showed his comfortability on the ball and eye for a long-range pass out from the back. Some of the passes went wayward but the 21-year-old looked untroubled for large spells of the match. His physical presence is certainly an advantage, especially today, looking like Rovers' tallest player but some way. James Wilson - 6 The centre-back had a better game compared to last week with some vital interceptions and touches. He's also clearly comfortable on the ball and had a bit more luck than his partner with the passes out from the back. Surely a regular fixture in the side now and, what is exciting, is I don't think we've seen near the best of him yet. George Friend (John Marquis 67') - 6 Similarly to last week, the left-back showed his comfortability at both ends of the pitch, putting in a shift defensively whilst also looking to contribute going forward. Again, his minutes have to be managed but playing just over an hour is good progress. You would expect to see Lewis Gordon comes back in at left-back for the EFL Trophy game against Cheltenham on Tuesday though to keep things fresh. Sam Finley (46' Antony Evans) - 5 Decent first half with the highlight of his performance being a lovely looping ball over the Lincoln defence to set up Aaron Collins. After criticism in recent weeks, that was a better showing as the skipper played a slightly more advanced role. However, the reason for his half-time withdrawal is yet to be 100 per cent known, having picked up a yellow card in the first-half. The booking knocks him down slightly. Lamare Bogarde (Josh Grant 76') - 5 The youngster had a solid first half but was chasing shadows at times in the second and it was another example of a player needing time to settle into the group. With some of his touches, there's clearly a very exciting player in the making, he just needs patience. Personally think it would do him some good starting again on Tuesday night against Cheltenham. Ryan Woods (67' Harvey Vale) - 6 The midfielder can go home satisfied from a personal perspective with his debut. Out of the starting trio, the best performer as he showed excellent composure and individual quality as well. There were a few instances in the first half where the Hull loanee was on the ball and being pressed by multiple Imps players but still managed to shimmy away from the danger. Came off with a good amount of football left to play but you'd have to say the 29-year-old did enough to keep his place in the league team, although the next league fixture is a fortnight away. Luke Thomas - 6 There were spells where the winger looked to be Rovers' most dangerous player and others were he was just bullied off of the ball. Thomas seems to be involved every time the Gas have an attack but if the match up doesn't favour the trickery and pace of the 24-year-old, he struggles. This was the case today, particularly in the second half. I would love to watch the squad do a bleep test because there is no doubt he would be amongst the final players standing, completing 90 minutes once again. Unfortunately, he was victim to some tight defending at times but still managed to make an impact. Aaron Collins - 6 After a really impressive first half, the forward struggled to find himself in similar patches of space in the second. Still, after bein subject to plenty of criticism over the past weeks, the forward showed some of his best traits. All he's missing now is that first goal. Jevani Brown (Sinclair 76') - 5 The forward was frustratingly quiet at times but clearly possesses the talent to be one of the first names on the team sheet when fit. It's up for debate in terms of whether he is the most, but there's no doubt that Brown is one of the Gas' best creators. I just wonder whether he would be better in a number 10 role instead of leading the line. Substitutes:Antony Evans (Finley 46') - 6 Got the assist for the equaliser and could have had a goal for himself. The midfielder has been unlucky this season when it comes to starts but he showed his quality. Much better in an offensive role than a deep one. Harvey Vale (Woods 67') - 4 Struggled to get himself into the game after coming on as a substitute and picked up a yellow card for a late challenge which was the correct decision. John Marquis (Friend 67') - 5 Made himself known to the Lincoln defence and his extra height helped against a big Imps outfit. Scott Sinclair (Brown 76') - N/A Didn't come on with enough time. Josh Grant (Bogarde 76') - N/A Same as above but managed to get the crucial equaliser. What a moment for him after his injury issues.

Just got back...
Another amazing day with some of you on a genuinely hilarious moments football day out.
Nice to see JK too on his routines....I hope you didn't forget to bring your sunglasses. I had to swerve into Mem with some of you, the £5 soda and lime certainly DID NOT highlight the day. A disgrace.
Anyhoos, moving on to less important things:
Title says we owe them, yea? Debt remains unpaid i m o.
Let's get the elephant out the room first: My opinion only, anyone whom let's and waits for deadline day to arrive at the last hour, then moans about not acquiring their prized asset without looking at themselves first, is foolish, deluded or insane, or possibly all 3.
There's 4 parties. Buyer, Player, Agent, Seller.
You've got the whole summer....if jch wanted it, it would have been done before. Sack the agent. Walk away from the deal if too much or messing around with price. But whatever you do is protect your assets.....you need a striker, no plan b implementation...? That encompasses of all 3 virtues!? The eggs in one basket proverb is older than all of us, hello?
....and such was an issue yesterday....we had and have no focal point in attack. Just as an option. If we need to go direct?
It's only the 2nd home league match, and already we've been worked out....let Rovers have the ball for their 71% possession on their own half, we'll get the first goal and they won't be able to break is down if we remain resilient and organised. Same match as Wycombe, less chances.
Some good individual performances, but we're not as slick yet as a team as we have been in past, or as on paper dictates.
Well done josh Grant, that been a year in coming....good on ya son!? Patient and tenacious. Another 20 more of that, and I'll eat my words..
.... because when the ball gets crossed in, who's the hairy a$$ed centre forward 3rd division bruiser to get his swede on it? (perhaps we should adopt a no crossing policy?).
Nice performances from the keep today. Some smart saves and is growing in confidence.
I liked Wilson contribution. And, Friend.
But our catalyst was Evans introduction....he was more creative than anyone, could possibly have scored with a beast of a header (the irony, because he usually assists those sorts of opportunities) and assisted the equaliser.. My m o m in waiting.
LM worked hard and hard.....he was defacto m o m but giving him the ball and little or no movement around him forces him to sideways and back, or take on 6 opponents and ultimately lead to nothing or loss of possession..
Something's happened to Finley. One great challenge, many other frustrated with himself as much as us passes going astray etc. Bogarde forgettable didn't help. Woods debut probably the best of a poor mid.
Something continues to happen to Aaza....a nice try first half we actively encouraged - shot wide from distance - but after almost several chances and on the back of last season - patience is wearing thin.
JM on, meh. Vale on even more meh, although at least he took a shot from outside bot on target..... hallelujah!?
Darren Ferguson says jch was on his way to Bristol as the club had got their paperwork completed, so they done their bit...I believe him.
He also said "easy on the eye football" isn't always going to be for them as it doesn't win games in this division... I'm inclined to believe him.
He also went on to sign 2 preferable replacements and get organised as jch isn't the only jewel in the crown... I definitely believe in him.
I don't know if he's a better manager or not, but if things don't change soon, by the time the next transfer window opens, I'll wager they'll be higher than us in the league....?
At least at end of month we'll see and know more as we meet each other!

Yesterday appeared to be 4 1 4 1 formation, going into a 4 1 2 3 when attacking. The two wide men stay, in the main, wide throughout. With Collins, Brown and Thomas wonder if we would be better if they were more flexible/fluid in their movement. Or would that disrupt up too much defensively?
These modern footballers are fitted and have more control but I miss a Lines who can run with the ball and break lines, a Clarke who can take a shot, a Disley who arrives late in the box....

It's time for Barton to go I think. S***head Right so thinking that the teams poor performance needs to be sorted out makes me a ****head does it? If I was a 'ted then why would I bother posting on here. It's a sad little man that aims that insult at someone, especially when there is no rationale or evidence to suggest that it is true. I thought this forum was above that kind of petty school playground level of insults/bullying. Grow up mate please.
