I'm proud to say there is a long line of Rovers supporters in my family history which also boasts a couple of Rovers players.
William James 'Jimmy' Morgan and Frederick 'Jerry' Morgan, my uncle and great-uncle respectively, both played for Rovers in the 1950s and 1920s.
During the halftime break of Saturday's match against Lincoln City, the Bristol Rovers Supporters' Club will honour the Morgan family. They're presenting caps as part of the supporters club initiative to ensure all players that have represented Rovers receive one. Jerry's cap will have the number 21 on it, and Jimmy's cap will show the number 277.
Both of these players played more than 100 games for the club. They were also part of the famous Morgan family from the Barton Hill/Redfield area in Bristol. This family had an incredible tradition: from 1919 to 1964, they played many matches for charity with teams consisting entirely of family members.
A book is also on the way that will tell the bigger story of Bristols' Morgan family.
I should have been at the presentation but for personal reasons, I had to head back to New Zealand early... gutted.
The Morgan family will be well represented for the presentation though and I will be watching via iFollow. If anyone knows the iFollow cameramen, can you ask them to focus on the half-time presentation ;-)

Looking forward to reading the book about the Morgans compiled by Larry Bennett.
The only Morgan I can recall off the top of my head was Londoner Trevor Morgan whk played for Rovers in the mid 1980s I presume he is no relation ?

Unfortunately, my Morgan family can't lay claim to Trevor.

Interesting story Jeff.
I too remember Trevor Morgan. Thought he was OK but not great and was replaced by better strikers after a season or two with us. Seem to remember he scored a screamer in a key game for us - was it when we beat Leicester 3 - 1 in the cup?
I also have a feeling we had a player called Steve Morgan on loan for a handful of games in the 90’s but can’t remember anything about him

Trevor played for both Bristol Clubs, always remember his headed goal for us against Rotherham at Eastville, he must of been at least a few yards ‘outside’ of the eighteen yard box when his nut made contact………..or at least that’s how I now remember it 😊

I (though no memory of it, I was just five) would have seen your uncle William James 'Jimmy' Morgan play. My first Rovers' game at Eastville, was Sept. 1949. And there's your Uncle Jimmy sat between Ray Warren and Josser. Fun fact: The first Rovers' goalscorer I ever 'saw' (again, no memory) was Josser, 5th. Sept. 1949. #UpTheROVERS we would shout.

Great pictures, thanks darloGas. While I met my uncle 'Jimmy Morgan', I never got to see him play.
