'Learned a lot': Tristan Crama reflects on Bristol Rovers loan after joining League One rivals..By Daniel Hargraves
Tristan Crama made 34 appearances across all competitions on loan at Bristol Rovers from Brentford last seasoni2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9450407.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-2018334265.jpgTristan Crama has insisted that he "learned a lot" from his loan spell at Bristol Rovers last year as the French defender made his return to the South West and League One, joining Exeter City on a season-long loan from Brentford. The 22-year-old made 34 appearances for the Gas across all competitions last term and impressed in spells, demonstrating qualities of a modern-day centre-back, particularly with his comfortability on the ball. Crama featured in every game between mid-December and late February but then only went on to make one final appearance in the 5-0 demolition at Lincoln City in March as Matt Taylor appeared to prefer alternative options in defence. Bar Aguilera who left Nottingham Forest for Portuguese side Rio Ave on a permanent deal, Crama is the only other player on loan at Rovers in the second half of last season to have secured a new move. Coincidentally, the defender will reunite with former Gas teammate Ryan Woods who saw his loan in BS7 from Hull City cut short in January before he himself joined Exeter on a loan deal. The midfielder has since joined the Grecians on a permanent basis. Reflecting on his first year in English professional football and his loan spell at Rovers, Crama told Exeter's club media: "I enjoyed myself in Bristol because it was my first loan so it was my first year in professional football. It was a really good season for me. I learned a lot. I was really happy to have my loan last season and now I'm looking forward to my new loan. "I know the league a little bit more now because of last season so I'm really happy and excited to join this league and this club. I'm really looking forward to my second season in League One." The Grecians and the Gas are set to face each other at least three times this season after both being drawn in Group G of the EFL Trophy. Exeter visit The Mem on October 29th in that competition with the first league meeting taking place at St James Park on Boxing Day. While the reverse fixture in BS7 is currently pencilled in for April 12th.
