Your loyalty to Farage is admirable Nobby. No, I have no loyalty to Farage. He did say this this morning :- ""I think the politically exposed person rules need to be completely reinterpreted and I think we have to look at all the anti-money laundering laws and recognise what is actually happening is we are using a sledgehammer to miss the nut." "None of this is working and there are tens of thousands of people out there who live in fear and feel helpless in the way the banks have treated them. "I now want to be a voice for those people and I want a fundamental change of the banking laws." I am one of those thousands. I mentioned on this site a few weeks ago that I had had my accounts frozen here in the UK. I could not withdraw any money and my cards would not work. It took me five days to sort it out and because I was in the process of moving from Germany to the UK at the time it was extremely stressful. Why were my accounts frozen? I had attempted to pay a bill in Germany (from my UK account) for having my car serviced. The bill was approx. 900 quid. With Mercedes in Germany you have your car serviced, you pick it up afterwards, and they send the bill through the post for payment via bank transfer. It's normal. The bank here in the UK did not believe that someone could drive their car away from a garage without paying the bill then and there, so my accounts were frozen under 'money laundering rules'. Money Laundering? 900 quid? FFS.

Your loyalty to Farage is admirable Nobby. I find it interesting. Is it an anti establishment stance by Nobby, a profound dislike of centralised power, or something else? Would make a good conversation over a pint

Money Laundering? 900 quid? FFS. Never had a bank account frozen or dropped by any bank. I was accused of money laundering when handling a property purchase a few years back when the funds originated in Hong Kong, not by the bank, but by a solicitor. It was resolved when I turned up at his office (😁). Back in the day when making payments to business/suppliers outside of the UK (but in the EU) the bank we used would always call to confirm that we agreed to the details of the transaction being shared. I always said "you mean the Americans" which of course they would neither confirm nor deny. If I did not agree, they would have blocked the transaction. Back to Farage I listened to Farage this morning on R4. He was completely disingenuous when claiming his case was typical of the thousands of small businesses that have their accounts closed.

Would make a good conversation over a pint Anti-establishment? Does anyone trust any politician or government civil servant? I certainly don't. Centralized power is not a good thing, whether it's via capitalism, communism or the EU model. However, distributed power doesn't work either as the local politicians/officials are even worse! I am not loyal to Farage. However, he does have to be admired as a man who spent 25 years pursuing a purpose, and that was to get the UK out of the EU. He formed a political party and used the democratic process to achieve his aim. Once that was achieved he basically stepped down from politics. He had achieved what he had set out to do.

I have also had an issue and I've banked as a resident in the UK for over 50 years. Systems and understanding of regulations are playing catch up. You lauded Brexit now you have to endure the issues created by it, the same as those who voted against it.

Rose has resigned but not long before that the board backed her, surely they should resign too as they have no credibility now.
Nice to hear that odious **** Nick Robinson back pedalling this morning when Farage had a pop back at him,Robinson so slimy that I expect gunge to ooze out of the radio when he's talking him and the BBC are well suited.

I had an account frozen as I hadnt used it for a while,I had to send various forms of ID to get it reopened, its ok now. A hell of a lot of this is down to foreign drug dealers and the drugs that are coming into the country, probably a lot of the violent crime is down to drugs use and drug dealing too.

C'mon Nobby, what do you think happened when we left the EU, that all things remained the same. Don't let your opinion of and belief in everything Nigel Farage says being true blind you to the fact that the whole situation changed. Why do you think British residents of the EU had their accounts closed and payments became more difficult. My friend died and I am executor to his estate. His daughter is resident in Spain and I had to get a Notary Public to confirm documents in order to make payments that I had previously made without issue.

Things have changed yes, but I don't believe it's due to Brexit. As someone who works/lives both in the UK and the EU I get to see both sides of the coin. Practically all the new rules, regulations and laws in the Finance industry have been introduced by the EU, especially after 2008. In my work we calculated that 65% of our time is spent ensuring things adhere to Compliance. Look at MFID and MIFID2! The amount of work created by this is extraordinary. We have to generate approx. 250,000 reports every night just for MIFID purposes!
