I have met many older people who lived through times of real poverty, these old people say things like "we were poor but we made our own entertainment" they never mention that their entertainment was stabbing people. I am in my 60s and grew up on a poor council estate in the late 60s/70s. We had more freedom but had respect for parents or as I was cared of my father and fear of authority. But there were certain individuals who you kept away from because they would sort you out. You could name the families who would cause problems. Luckily I was friendly with most of them! My father would have sorted me out if I caused any issues and nothing would have been said. However the Police also did a lot then that they would not get away with now. Most issues didn't get any where near court, the Police would sort it.... When I was 16 my friend was in a fight and injured the person who started the fight. That person came from a well connected family and my statement was written for me by the police officer in front of my father and I was told to sign it. My friend was told to plead guilty. It was an absolute stitch up.

Former Scotland Yard Detective Peter Bleksley. He took it from the latest available figures,March 2022. Oh god, another GB News nutter. Didn't he leave the police years ago and has been in "entertainment" for years? Honestly, and we are all guilty of it now and again, you appear to do it constantly, confirmation bias. Try a contrary viewpoint, it just might make you think.

He had an interesting debate with someone that shared your point of view on GB News. I listened. Blackley made alot of sense. The other person, whilst I understood their point of view i'm afraid their naivety came shining through. GB News regularly have guests of varying points of view on.

Personally I find GB News, the little I know about it, a national embarrassment and insult to average intelligence. An opinion based upon the snapshots that get into the media, backed up by people who quote it. For example Ann Widdecome, I mean really. Anyway, carry on and enjoy

It goes from one extreme to another...Outcry as Australian police Taser 95-year-old care home resident...By Tiffanie Turnbull and Tom Housden, BBC News, Sydney.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/05/18/23/71159751-12100765-image-a-8_1684450245855.jpgAn elderly Australian woman with dementia is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being Tasered by police at a care home. Officers were called to Yallambee Lodge in Cooma after reports that 95-year-old Clare Nowland was carrying a knife. The early morning incident has sparked outcry, over what advocates say was a disproportionate response. The New South Wales (NSW) police chief has said she shares community concerns, and an investigation is under way. Ms Nowland was found "armed" with a steak knife in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Assistant Police Commissioner Peter Cotter told media on Friday. Two officers and care home staff tried to de-escalate the situation, before she began approaching police - "it is fair to say at a slow pace" - and was Tasered. "She had a walking frame. But she had a knife," he said. Family friend Andrew Thaler claimed Ms Nowland was struck twice - in the chest and the back - before she fell, suffering a fractured skull and a serious brain bleed. Her family are already grieving as they do not expect her to survive, he told the BBC. "The family are shocked, they're confused... and the community is outraged." "How can this happen? How do you explain this level of force? It's absurd." Community groups, including the NSW Council for Civil Liberties and People with Disability Australia (PwD), have criticised the police response. "She's either one hell of an agile, fit, fast and intimidating 95-year-old woman, or there's a very poor lack of judgement [from] those police officers," PwD President Nicole Lee told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). "She needed somebody to... handle her with compassion and time, and not Tasers." NSW Police has launched a critical incident investigation, which Commissioner Karen Webb said is being treated with "the utmost seriousness". "I understand and share the community concerns," she said. The officer involved has not been suspended, but will be interviewed as part of the investigation, which will include the homicide squad. "No officer, not one of us, is above the law," Mr Cotter said. "All our actions will be scrutinised robustly from a criminal perspective as well." The care home, which is run by the Snowy Monaro Regional Council, has defended its response. The staff followed procedures and did what was needed in the circumstances, the council's chief operating officer Jeff Morgan told local media. Yallambee Lodge opened in 1995 and looks after residents with "higher needs", according to its website. Ms Nowland has lived at the home for more than five years, the ABC reported. The great-grandmother is well known locally, and appeared on TV in 2008 to mark her 80th birthday by sky-diving over Canberra. Clare Nowland: Officer who Tasered 95-year-old woman suspended..By Tiffanie Turnbull, BBC News, Sydney. The police officer who Tasered a 95-year-old woman at an Australian care home has been suspended from duty. Clare Nowland was critically injured when police responded to reports she was wandering her care home with a knife around 4am on Wednesday. Amid public outcry, critics have called the response by police and care home staff disproportionate. An investigation into the incident continues, as Ms Nowland receives "end of life care" in hospital. In a statement on Tuesday, New South Wales (NSW) Police said the 33-year-old senior constable who Tasered Ms Nowland has been stood down, with pay. Police say Ms Nowland was "armed" with a steak knife at the care home - which is in the town of Cooma about 114km (71 miles) south of Canberra - and the officer discharged his weapon after she began approaching "at a slow pace". "She had a walking frame. But she had a knife," Assistant Police Commissioner Peter Cotter told media on Friday. Ms Nowland is believed to have suffered a fractured skull and a serious brain bleed after falling and hitting her head during the incident. Community groups, including the NSW Council for Civil Liberties and People with Disability Australia (PwD), have strongly criticised the response, and called for better de-escalation training. "The family are shocked, they're confused... and the community is outraged," family friend Andrew Thaler told the BBC on Friday. "How can this happen? How do you explain this level of force? It's absurd." In a statement on Monday, Ms Nowland's family added that they were grateful for the outpouring of support from around the world, but appealed for privacy amid a "worrying and distressing time". "Well respected, much loved and a giving member of her local community, Clare is the loving and gentle-natured matriarch of the Nowland family," the statement said. Investigations into the response by police and care home staff are under way, with the homicide squad involved. "No officer, not one of us, is above the law," Mr Cotter said. "All our actions will be scrutinised robustly from a criminal perspective as well."

Cheshire's link was what he referred to. On YouTube. GB News. 'Police Officers MUST be protected.Peter Bleksley defends Officers using tasers'. Perhaps someone can put it up please and posters can make their own minds up.
