JB said post game that basically some ought to buck up or they won't be a Bristol Rovers player much longer. What a surprise. How about something may be wrong with coaching and tactics? Defence has got worse, and you defend as a team, and the ability to break down opposition has got worse. Individuals like Collins, Coburn and Connolly look worse now. Macca has disappeared. Would suggest Hoole and Gordon playing to their potential after a couple of dodgy games.

JB said post game that basically some ought to buck up or they won't be a Bristol Rovers player much longer. I guess it is the managers job to motivate the players. To be fair to Barton (it happens occasionally) - I would have thought that instilling 100% commitment from the players would be one of his strengths. Has he accepted some of the blame for this reportedly poor performance? Prepares to fall off chair for the second game in a row.

JB said post game that basically some ought to buck up or they won't be a Bristol Rovers player much longer. Quite a few won’t be anyway, and, I think he told them that earlier in this season’s campaign, perhaps a reminder with 3 games to go not to sit back.

JB said post game that basically some ought to buck up or they won't be a Bristol Rovers player much longer. He's said that on too many occasions this season. Also self-evident that many of them won't be a Rovers player much longer as far too many of them are on loan. Perhaps this is part of the problem? Sad to say the performances against the bottom six do raise questions about Barton's ability to motivate the team. Also give Jed Ward a game in the last game of the season, not when a top-half position is still possible.

Playing Jed Ward when there are 4 games remaining stands out in big red letters for me. JB needs to remember that we didn't get promoted because he is a tactical genius. We basically got promoted because he was able to call in a favour from his former club.

Many managers throughout football history have had challenges with unmotivated players.
No relegation or promotion to play for.A couple of players hoping to leave in a few weeks etc.
There's not alot of creditably in exaggerating this and making such a big thing about it ,just to have another ott go at the manager.
All abit piss really.
JB will sort it out.🙂

JB said post game that basically some ought to buck up or they won't be a Bristol Rovers player much longer. Wish he would include himself in this assessment too. An acceptable season back in L1 with some highlights but also a good number of lowlights. The way the season is ending and the fact that the squad will need major surgery with the inevitable “gelling” excuses does not leave me with any confidence that 23-24 will be any better. Living in hope, but with suitably lowered expectations

The previous two games County and Wednesday Rovers put up a decent show.Don't they count in "the way the season is ending"? "Major surgery" for the squad you state as "fact".Well we'll see. We've "inevitable gelling excuses" to look forward to you prophesise, well we'll see,but don't worry if that happens,as long as they do 'gel'.Like eg DC getting us out of the 5th tier or JB getting us up from the 4th.

Still not got us to the heady heights that Coughlan did, perhaps he was a better motivator....

They also have to be adapted sometimes to suit the players. Some need encouragement, some need bollockings, some need to be told how brilliant they are!!

It’s a satisfactory season. After a promotion I am happy to have a solid season in the league above. We’ve not just survived we’ve done well enough to not be involved in any kind of relegation fight so well done to all for achieving that.
But it might be me or just the times we live in but reading both forums it seems that we can’t be ‘just’ midtable without any of the dramas that you get at either end. We have to be fighting for the play offs or facing a relegation race when in truth we’ve been moving around the 10th-16th places all season. Bog standard midtable which after a promotion isn’t bad at all. Considering our consistent league placing we’ve played in fits and starts, winning runs and losing runs which have excited us or depressed us equally.
Considering our poor home record the crowds have maintained themselves all season so well done to those who’ve done that week in week out. And, as you would expect with JB, we seem to have our fair share of dramas with individual players being called out which I don’t really see the need for seeing as where we’ve been all season. But that’s JB and I’m sure it will be the same next season.

He got a tune out of an arguably much less talented squad than we have now, and he played the hand he was dealt. Probably the most underrated manager we have had in my 50 yrs plus as a Gashead

Currently aiming to make Newport more professional next year, now that he's kept them up. GC had a defence that got the ball forward quickish. He had a midfield that won the battles and scored a goal or two.Eg Ollie Clark. Upfront he had the best hitman in the division,JCH. I thought it excellent. Others decided it was'nt as good enough (oh what a surprise) ,not like MOTD ad nauseam.
