Firstly ...
Well Done Neil Trotman ... I thought played really well , covered for TP a few times and won pretty much everything he went for. Stand out performance for me.
I liked the contribution from Ellis today and that DC could see conditions might just suit him ... another tick.
Secondly ..
Is anyone expecting any more 'Ins' this week .... starting to sense we are maybe one or two players away from being relatively solid . Still need a play maker in my opinion.
Would be interesting to hear what others think.

Trotman was outstanding yesterday. Not sure I have ever seen a player win as many headers in one match (against Parkin as well!). As I said elsewhere, let's hope he can keep it up.

Pretty much agree with you there; Ellis contributed well. The only small bit of negative criticism of him would be that he had a great chance and took the wrong decision. Was through on goal, on his right foot, and decided to check inside, and the chance was gone. Should have shot first time.

For me, Trotman is still a penalty waiting to happen on the floor. However, he is immense in the air, a total rock, and positions himself well to cover for others.
I hope that when the disaster does happen, fans can remember no defender is going to be perfect at this level and that his positives outweigh the occasional negative.

Overall a very solid team performance, and we were a bit unlucky not to come away with all three points. Agree about Trotman, FGR had two big strikers up front, OK they have a combined age of 70, but they are the sort of players we've found to hard to defend against in recent seasons.
If Harrison continues like that he wil earn himslef a place in the starting line up soon. I thought Sinclair livened things up for us a bit when he came on too. DC may be building a squad that can compete well at this level, but we are nowhere near the finished article yet. Cunnington and Martin look like good loan signings.

Ellis could have been a hero if Brown hadn't blasted that free kick wide at the end. Why him when Mansell has a much better free kick? Most of Brown's set pieces are useless.

I'm impressed by Trotman and think he'll be a decent defender at this level with the amount of high balls hit towards the box. He dealt with pretty much everything that came at him in the air and the one time he wasn't going to win the header he theatrically hit the deck and won Rovers the free kick.
I was impressed with Rovers and thought they were much improved with players actually wanting the ball. I hope to see more of the impressive passing and movement that led up to the disallowed goal.

Really enjoyed the performance. One concern was the FGR only real moment of quality was a two pass move the length of the pitch in which MM saved the day. That shouldn't have been allowed to happen.Trotman immense.

Absolutely agree re. Trotman. He was outstanding yesterday and has now become our first choice central defender in my opinion. Aerially commanding and strong up against big forwards, he has all the qualities you want in a defender. For the time being Parkes is the best option to partner him but Lockyer could prove a better choice with Leadbitter then slotting into right back.
Harrison was bright when he came on yesterday but continues to make the wrong decisions in the final third. The ball was played through to him on his right foot 18 yards out and instead of having a pop at goal he tried to cut inside on his weaker left foot and was easily dispossessed. I'm not sure if this is a confidence issue but he needs to develop a greater understanding of what he needs to do/attempt in certain areas. His attitude, however, seems much improved from last season and the word on the street is DC has been pretty pleased with his application on the training ground, which can only be a good thing. DC was adamant over the summer he wanted rid of EH but was quick to say he'd be given a fair chance if he returned for pre-season with the right mentality and clearly that's what has happened. Keep it up, Ellis.
Overall I thought we played really well against an FGR side full of experience (and criminals) and it should give everyone confidence that we are good enough to compete with every team in the division. We shouldn't have drawn but it's a lesson to the lads that we need to stamp out the silly errors defensively and take our chances when they come our way. Personally I reckon there's a very decent player in Matty Taylor and once he gets one goal he'll go on to get many more, but until it happens it will look like he flatters to deceive.
I see no reason why we can't beat Halifax, especially if we can recruit a further player or two this week as DC hopes for.

Surprised to see people complimenting Ellis Harrison's performance for yesterday, as I felt it was once he came on that Forest Green got back into the game. I thought he looked tired after 10 minutes of being on the pitch and struggled to beat his man, and when it did was more due to luck rather than any sort of skill. Harrison is somebody who I thought could be a big advantage for us if he could get his mind right and after Clarke's comments I was hopeful that we'd finally see the Ellis Harrison that we started to see when he first burst on the scene, instead the player I've seen in his two substitute appearances is some way off of that quality.

A lot of his work was off the ball, he was constantly pulling their cb away from Coles opening up space and when it was played to him he was able to turn and run direct. For his first opportunity at decent minutes this season I thought he did well.

Cunnington seems to be the missing link we have been waiting for, he did a great job Saturday bringing the midfield into the attack and was causing problems until his injury yesterday. When he went off we stopped holding the ball up in the final 3rd and went back to defending to deep and inviting FGR to attack.
