England in Bangladesh: Jos Buttler says tour is 'exactly the kind of challenge we need'..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7F40/production/_128767523_gettyimages-1407909145.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/0A10/production/_128767520_gettyimages-1247494496.jpgCaptain Jos Buttler says a limited-overs tour of Bangladesh is "exactly the kind of challenge" England need before October's World Cup in India. The first of three one-day internationals takes place in Mirpur from 06:00 GMT on Wednesday. England beat Bangladesh on their last tour in 2016 but have lost their past seven 50-over series, dating back to 2005, in similar conditions in India. "It will be a great challenge for us," said Buttler. Bangladesh have won 12 of their past 13 home ODI series since the 2015 World Cup, including beating number-one ranked India in December - with that England series in 2016 their only defeat. This assignment will be the last limited-overs cricket England play for almost six months, and their final overseas games before they defend their 50-over World Cup title on the subcontinent. SquadsEngland ODI squad: Jos Buttler (capt & wk), Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, James Vince, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. England T20 squad: Jos Buttler (capt & wk), Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. Bangladesh squad for first two ODIs: Tamim Iqbal (captain), Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Mahmud Ullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Taijul Islam, Towhid Hridoy.

The left-hander's fourth ODI ton held the tourists' chase together as they overhauled Bangladesh's 209 all out with eight balls to spare. On a pitch offering assistance to seamers and spinners alike, wickets fell at regular intervals in the chase. But Malan hit the winning boundary to put England ahead in the series. Earlier, Bangladesh had made a strong start to their innings after opting to bat first before being pegged back, with six England bowlers sharing the wickets. Chris Woakes took the first before Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and Moeen Ali took two wickets apiece, and debutant Will Jacks also chipped in. The home batters largely struggled in the low-scoring contest with Najmul Hossain Shanto's 58 from 82 balls the only other score over 50 in the match. The sides will stay in Mirpur for Friday's second ODI as they continue to build towards the autumn's World Cup in India. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/8F53/production/_128819663_gettyimages-1470504663-1.jpg

The opener's 12th ODI ton and a fluent 76 from captain Jos Buttler took the tourists to 326-7 in Mirpur. Sam Curran quickly reduced Bangladesh to 9-3 in the chase and despite Shakib Al Hasan's battling half-century, the hosts limped to 194 all out. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid removed Shakib and impressed again, taking 4-45. Curran came back to finish the job, ending with figures of 4-29, and England take an unassailable 2-0 lead into Monday's final ODI. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2AAC/production/_128842901_67ce4545cb14d9fac5211c538e5d1a7d67af35de.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/07FC/production/_128844020_7ceba95d5f316099f401f0199f8e47b9c83d007e.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/D59B/production/_128838645_gettyimages-1470896725.jpg

3rd ODI - 6th March at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong - Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.Bangladesh 246 all out (48.5 overs) Shakib 75, Mushfiqur 70, Shanto 53, Archer 3-35 England 196 all out (43.1 overs) Vince 38, Woakes 34, Buttler 26, Shakib 4-35 Bangladesh win by 50 runs
England were bowled out for 196 as Bangladesh avoided a one-day international series clean sweep with a 50-run win in Chittagong. Having already taken an unassailable 2-0 series lead, England restricted Bangladesh to 246 all out. But the visitors lost three wickets in eight balls from 54-0 and were bowled out with 41 balls of their innings still remaining. Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan took 4-35 after striking 75 with the bat. Shakib became the first Bangladesh player to reach 300 ODI wickets when he removed Rehan Ahmed thanks to a Mehedi Hasan catch. England were hoping to become the first side to secure a clean sweep in an ODI series in Bangladesh since Sri Lanka in 2014. James Vince top-scored with 38 for England with most of the visitors' top and middle order unable to capitalise on good starts. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/17990/production/_128865669_gettyimages-1247819477.jpg

England were 50-1 after six overs, but a flurry of wickets followed on a difficult, turning pitch and the tourists were bowled out for 117 in the 20th over. Ben Duckett top-scored with 28 from as many balls in the middle order, but he saw four partners fall to Mehedi Hasan who finished with figures of 4-12. Bangladesh made steady progress in their chase, with Najmul Hossain Shanto's unbeaten 46 seeing them home with seven balls left. Jofra Archer took two wickets late on, finishing with an impressive 3-13, to squeeze the game but the hosts took 15 from the first five balls of the penultimate over bowled by Chris Jordan. The series concludes with a final dead rubber at the same ground on Tuesday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/BA78/production/_128963774_gettyimages-1472282348.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/12DBE/production/_128964277_gettyimages-1472950657.jpg

"We've got to start well. We were exceptional with the ball last game defending a low total and I'm lucky I've got so many good bowlers to call upon again. "I want individuals to take on the responsibility to be the one to win the game. We're disappointed to have lost the series but we want to finish on a positive note today." Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan: "I would have bowled first as well. It will be a challenge for us but hopefully we can get the runs on the board today. "I am very pleased to see so many of our players contributing and putting their hands up for the team. Hopefully we can use this momentum and start to build something as a team." The teams

Chasing 159, England were in control at 100-1 as Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan added 95 for the second wicket in Mirpur. But Bangladesh fought back when the pair fell in consecutive balls in the 14th over. The pressure built on England's middle order and they finished on 142-6 after losing 5-28 in the space of 35 balls. Bangladesh's 158-2 was set up by opener Litton Das' explosive 73 from 57 balls and Najmul Hossain Shanto's 47 not out from 36. Ben Duckett dropped Das on 51 and Rehan Ahmed dropped a simple chance from Rony Talukdar on 17. But England salvaged some pride at the death as Sam Curran and Chris Jordan restricted Bangladesh's scoring, conceding only 27 runs from the final five overs. Despite losing Phil Salt for a duck in the first over, Malan and Buttler led an impressive counter-attack on a slow, wearing pitch. But Mustafizur Rahman changed the game when Malan was caught behind for 53 and Buttler was sensationally run out for 40 by Mehidy Hasan. The series concludes England's winter and the white-ball side will not be in action again until August. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/1043A/production/_128981666_gettyimages-1248219667.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/14/d8c4c93b-03a7-4d4e-8415-0095b08eacf9.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/14/2469c862-1fa3-450f-a5c3-f7a9a8279e91.jpg......................................................................................................................................................................................
