Puffin UK are to print Roald Dahls literature, as the author wrote it.
This after major criticism against suggested changes.
The PM being one of the critics.

It was the editors of Puffin who chose to edit the books. There was no demand from anyone to change the words. They were wrong and know they were!

Oh dear - www.theguardian.com/books/2023/feb/27/james-bond-novels-to-be-reissued-with-racial-references-removedIan Flemingâs James Bond novels are to be reissued with a number of racial references removed and a disclaimer that the books might use terms of attitudes âconsidered offensive by modern readersâ. April marks 70 years since Casino Royale, Flemingâs first book featuring British spy Bond, was published. To mark the occasion, a full set of the thrillers will be reissued. Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, which owns the rights to the authorâs work, employed sensitivity readers to look at the texts and make recommendations for changes. The changes include the removal of the N-word in almost all cases, and omitting references to the ethnicity of a number of minor characters. The reissued books will also carry a disclaimer, according to the Telegraph, which will explain the changes and will read: âThis book was written at a time when terms and attitudes which might be considered offensive by modern readers were commonplace. âA number of updates have been made in this edition, while keeping as close as possible to the original text and the period in which it is set.â Many of the changes in the Bond books are around the depiction of Black people. In Live and Let Die, Bondâs comment that would-be African criminals in the gold and diamond trades are âpretty law-abiding chaps I should have thought, except when theyâve drunk too muchâ has been changed to just âpretty law-abiding chaps I should have thoughtâ, says the Telegraph. Another change comes in a scene where Bond visits a nightclub in Harlem, and a reference to the âaudience panting and grunting like pigs at the troughâ has been changed to âBond could sense the electric tension in the roomâ......

It's unbelievable isn't it. Well, I guess the Bible and Koran will have to revised and reissued. đ€«đ€«đđ

Are we actually agreed on this point? 'Re-writing' books is very 1984 and sets a worrying precedent for anything ever printed! By all means put something on the forward or back cover to explain some of the (now) 'unacceptable' references. I'm absolutely fine with that. A bit like buying an 'edgy' rock n' roll album and having clear warnings about offensive / derogatory language. They actually 'employed sensitivity readers". wtaf?
Where will end, where will it end. (RIP Ian Curtis).

Two fantastic albums - Unknown Pleasures and Closer. Both over 40 years old now... But you really have to chose when you play them. They are both incredibly dark. Lost Control and Transmission.đ Don't remember pressing the next track button on any track of the discs from Heart and Soul, a 4 disc set (81 live and studio tracks). I have Unknown Pleasures, Closer, Still, Substance and The Best of Joy Division albums too.
