Watched the last 10 minutes of his ITV interview last night. He looked as unhappy and mentally fragile, as it`s possible to be. Wouldn`t be at all surprised if it was announced that he`d had a complete breakdown. As for the Taliban claims, did nobody else involved with the book, point out to him that it was extremely unwise to talk about killing Muslims? Or were they more concerned with their share of the profits to be made? The publisher couldn't give a toss and are just looking for headlines. It's the people in his "team" who must have read the transcript first that are to blame, plus the ginger whinger himself for allowing those words to be written. You get the feeling that he's being badly advised. He's now toast in the UK. Think maybe he`s got the same advisor as Prince Andrew? I`d give better advice to Bristol City.

David Duckham: Former England and British & Irish Lions back dies aged 76..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1FE5/production/_128256180_gettyimages-638921867.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/1239F/production/_128255647_hi000303113.jpgFormer England and British & Irish Lions back David Duckham has died at the age of 76. Duckham made his international debut against Ireland in 1969 and won 36 England caps, with the last of those against Scotland in 1976. He played at wing and centre and was part of the victorious 1971 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. Duckham finished the tour with 11 tries in 17 appearances, with six coming in a midweek game against West Coast/Buller. "All at the Rugby Football Union are saddened to learn of the death of David Duckham MBE," said a statement from England Rugby. "Duckham played 36 times for England, scoring 10 tries, and was also part of the revered Lions squad of 1971 that defeated New Zealand. Our thoughts are with his family and friends." RFU president Nigel Gillingham added: "David Duckham was not only one of the greatest and most talented of English players, but also a player so greatly admired around the world." The former Coventry player was part of the Barbarians side that earned a 23-11 victory over the All Blacks at Cardiff Arms Park in 1973, with one famed counter-attacking run helping to earn Duckham the nickname 'Dai' from Welsh fans. "Coventry Rugby is incredibly sad to learn of the news that David Duckham, ex-Coventry, England and British and Irish Lions player, has died, aged 76," read a statement from his former club. "Donned as arguably the 'greatest' ever Coventry player, our thoughts go out to David's family at this difficult time. "The club will demonstrate a minute's silence prior to kick-off at this Saturday's match against Jersey and will be looking to organise a celebration of life for David, subject to conversations with the family. Rest in peace, David." Duckham made his England debut at centre alongside John Spencer. "It was an honour to be David's partner on the pitch," said Spencer. "He was one of the greatest ever players with ball in hand and a pivotal part of the Lions success in 1971, the only Lions tour that ever won in New Zealand. "He was widely respected by players around the world and was a gentle, kind man, with a great sense of humour. David will be hugely missed by all who knew him." The Lions called Duckham a rugby union "legend" and said, "he will be greatly missed, all of our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Jeff Beck: British guitar legend dies aged 78..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/820/cpsprodpb/D04F/production/_128272335_beck-gettyimages-1432230036.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/34E9/production/_128254531_gettyimages-170137604.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/8FEF/production/_128274863_gettyimages-73737781.jpgJeff Beck & Robert Plant, Plant said Beck "cooked up magic" through all the eras of his musicJeff Beck, one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time, has died at the age of 78. The British musician rose to fame as part of the Yardbirds, where he replaced Eric Clapton, before forming the Jeff Beck group with Rod Stewart. His tone, presence and, above all, volume redefined guitar music in the 1960s, and influenced movements like heavy metal, jazz-rock and even punk. Beck's death was confirmed on his official Twitter page. "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing," the statement said. "After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss." Speaking when he was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time in 2009, Beck - said: "I play the way I do because it allows me to come up with the sickest sounds possible." "That's the point now, isn't it? I don't care about the rules. "In fact, if I don't break the rules at least 10 times in every song, then I'm not doing my job properly." Born Geoffrey Arnold Beck in Wallington, Surrey, the musician fell in love with Rock and Roll as a child, and built his first guitar as a teenager. "The guy next door said, 'I'll build you a solid body guitar for five pounds'," he later told Rock Cellar Magazine. "Five pounds, which to me was 500 back then [so] I went ahead and did it [myself]. "The first one I built was in 1956, because Elvis was out, and everything that you heard about pop music was guitar. And then I got fascinated. I'm sure the same goes for lots of people." After a short stint at Wimbledon Art College, he left to play with shock-rocker Screaming Lord Sutch and the Tridents. When Eric Clapton left the Yardbirds in 1965, Jimmy Page suggested hiring Beck - and he went on to play on hits like I'm A Man and Shapes Of Things, where his pioneering use of feedback influenced musicians like Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix. "That [technique] came as an accident," he later told BBC Radio 2's Johnnie Walker. "We played larger venues, around about '64-'65, and the PA was inadequate. So we cranked up the level and then found out that feedback would happen. "I started using it because it was controllable - you could play tunes with it. I did this once at Staines Town Hall with the Yardbirds and afterwards, this guy says, 'You know that funny noise that wasn't supposed to be there? I'd keep that in if I were you.' "So I said, 'It was deliberate mate. Go away'."

Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis, dies aged 54..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/mcs/media/images/63576000/jpg/_63576782_63576781.jpgLisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock'n'roll legend Elvis, has died aged 54, her mother has said. "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," Priscilla Presley said. Lisa Marie, also a singer, was rushed to hospital earlier on Thursday. Media reports say she had cardiac arrest. She was found unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California, sources told US outlet TMZ. "She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known," Priscilla Presley said in a statement. "We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss," Her mother gave no details about the possible cause of death. Citing a source close to Lisa Marie Presley, TMZ reported that the star was found unresponsive in her bedroom on Thursday morning. At about the same time her former husband Danny Keough, who also lives at the property, arrived and performed CPR. The outlet said that she had suffered a "full arrest" before a bystander administered epinephrine - commonly known as adrenaline - to help her regain a pulse. Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards, taking Presley to hospital. Tributes started pouring in from across America soon after the star's death was reported. Grammy award winner Diane Warren expressed her sorrow at the "horrible news". The singer added that "the entire world is sending love and prayers to Priscilla and Lisa Marie's children right now". In a Twitter post, Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin wrote: "I had the chance to know Cilla Presley when I was on Dancing With the Stars and as a mother, I can't imagine the pain she must be going through with the untimely passing of Lisa Marie." Born in 1968, Lisa Marie went on to follow in her father's footsteps and forged a career in music. The star released three albums, with her 2003 debut studio album selling hundreds of thousands of copies and receiving generally positive reviews. The star was also well known for a series of high-profile marriages to pop legend Michael Jackson, actor Nicholas Cage and musicians Danny Keough and Michael Lockwood. She had four children, including the actress Riley Keough. Presley's son, Benjamin Keough, killed himself in 2020. Presley was last seen in public on Tuesday night at the Golden Globes Awards in Beverley Hills. Accompanied by her mother, the pair were seen breaking down in tears as they watched Austin Butler win the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of her father. During an emotional speech, the actor thanked the Presley family for their help during the film. "Thank you guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me," Butler said. "Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever."

"Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour. Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie," she wrote. "She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad." Born in 1968, Lisa Marie went on to follow in her father's footsteps and forged a career in music. The star released three albums, with her 2003 debut studio album selling hundreds of thousands of copies and receiving generally positive reviews. "Lisa Marie's final resting place will be at Graceland, next to her beloved son, Ben," a representative for her daughter said. Her son, Benjamin Keough, took his own life in August 2020 aged 27. She became the sole heir to the Graceland estate and its 17,500 square foot mansion when she turned 25, according to the Graceland website. The mansion is second only to the White House as the most visited home in the United States, according to the estate's website. Famous faces including the Duchess of York attended the service, which took place at her father's Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday. The US singer, who was the only child of Elvis Presley, died on 12 January, hours after being taken to hospital. Lisa Marie has been buried at Graceland next to her son Benjamin Keough, who died in 2020. Artists such as Alanis Morissette and Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose performed as they joined her children as well as others including Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York and the former mayor of Memphis, in paying tribute to Lisa Marie. Crowds of mourners were pictured holding up pictures of Lisa Marie after members of the public were invited to attend the service. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, thanked everyone for coming to honour her daughter as she stood on the stage on the front lawn of the estate. She also read a poem written by her granddaughter Harper - one of Lisa Marie's three daughters - which said: "Mama was my icon, my role model, my superhero, and much more ways than one." A poem by Lisa's daughter Riley was read out, which said: "I hope I can love my daughter that way you loved me. The way you love my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humour." The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson also gave a tribute to her "sissie", where she offered her support to the late singer's children. She said: "My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing can be said, can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments, because grief is the price we pay for love, and how right she was."

Got to be honest and I've never heard of some these. Fred White - 67 Gangsta Boo - 43 Ken Block - 55 Walter Cunningham - 90 Alan Rankine - 64 Sort of ditto... though Party Fears Too and Country Club were great singles from the Associates, so just about heard of Alan Rankine. Would it be tasteless to have a two division structure to differentiate between celebrity / debatable celebrity status? Perhaps a promotion / relegation structure for post-life exposure. Yeah, probably tasteless.
