It’s been very quiet over Rossiter which in itself is probably bad news. I suspect if he was near fitness we would have heard. Without him we need someone to take his place. If he were fit and match fit it would be like a new signing. He is a quality player. UTG! I was going to post the same thought! I've been weighing up the to-ing and fro-ing of the squad since last season, trying to assess whether we are currently weaker, stronger or about the same. (Bearing in mind that the transfer window remains open for a while yet...but it's good to have the squad in place for the start of pre-season training...which was last week!). My view: We've lost Gibson and Quansah; Coutts and Whelan; Bogarde and Anderson; Coburn. We've gained Wilson; Josh Grant (recovered); Thomas and Brown. Those are not like-for-like replacements. It could be argued that Wilson is an improvement on one of last year's loanee defenders, as he is more experienced and can marshal the defence better. But even if Rossiter does make a comeback, it looks as though we are currently at least a couple short of being ready for the season. By the way, if Ryan Jones has progressed from the promising performances he put in a couple of seasons ago, and steps up to the first team squad, he could count as one of the midfield replacements. Yes agreed,i'm sure there's a few more to arrive. Jordan Rossitter is my favourite Rovers player,I absolutely enjoy watching him play the game.Such a major player for us,but luckily Grant Ward is a very good 'deputy'.In the scenario we resigned Bogarde then our midfield would be looking right dandy! I think our Summer shopping is coming along quite nicely. It seems Mr Friend,a LB or LCH will sign this week .

From.Bristol live today
Matt Taylor has admitted he isn't planning to have Jordan Rossiter available for the remainder of the season as the Bristol Rovers midfielder continues his lengthy recovery after sustaining a serious knee injury in December 2022.
Rossiter last played for the Gas against MK Dons in the EFL Trophy on December 13 2022 having made an instant impact at the Mem following his arrival that summer from Fleetwood Town. However, since sustaining the has faced a plethora of setbacks during his road to recovery, something that only he himself would be able to describe to get a better understanding of the severity of the challenge.
When the problem occurred in that 4-1 win over MK Dons, the verdict from then-manager Joey Barton at the time was that that the injury wasn't as serious as first feared as it became apparent that the 26-year-old had damaged his meniscus instead of his anterior cruciate ligament which tends to result in several months on the sidelines.
Such a wonderful talented midfielder for us when fit . A career cut short just like Jamie Shore.

Jordan Rossiter made his return to playing football after 16 months out and was offered a new contract to stay on at Bristol Rovers..By Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8078906.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JMP_Bristol_Rovers_V_Rochdale_WC-431.jpgJordan Rossiter is expected to leave Bristol Rovers when his agreement expires at the end of the month, Bristol Live understands, having been one of three out of contract players offered a new deal. Rossiter was understood to be assessing his options before committing his future to the Gas as the 27-year-old is subject to interest from clubs in League One and League Two and with his deal expiring at the end of the month, the midfielder is expected to seek a new challenge. That means that at least 14 players will have left the Gas going into pre-season with a decision still yet to be made by defender Luca Hoole, although it is understood that there is growing confidence that the academy product will stay on at the club having also been offered a new deal. Additionally, Scott Sinclair is expected to sign the contract offered to him. Rovers saw six loan players return to their parent clubs at the end of last season while seven were released. Rossiter's two-year spell in BS7 will, unfortunately, be overshadowed by the amount of time the former Liverpool prospect spent on the sidelines. The midfielder was often outstanding whenever he pulled on a Gas shirt but his appearance tally for the club stands at just 25 over two seasons with just four of those coming last term. It wasn't entirely clear whether Gasheads would get to see the 27-year-old in action before the end of the campaign with serious complications following what was supposed to be a routine knee surgery in December 2022 ended up keeping the midfielder out for 16 months. What Rossiter himself revealed to be a "one in 10,000 chance" in April, the 27-year-old picked up a rare infection during surgery which was supposed to get him back playing within around six weeks. Seeing him back on the pitch for the final four games of the season was a relief for everyone involved with Rovers and he certainly demonstrated what Matt Taylor's side had been missing during a poor run of form, providing an infection endeavour and desire to win the ball back and battle for his teammates. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9353653.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3586675.jpgHowever, the Scouser is expected to move on from the Gas, likely heading closer to home with Rovers the first southern-based club Rossiter had played for with Rangers, Fleetwood Town and Bury also on the CV alongside Liverpool. Despite being a boyhood Evertonian, Rossiter came through the youth ranks in the red side of Merseyside, breaking onto the scene with a goal on his first-team debut against Middlesbrough as a 17-year-old. The midfielder went on to make a total of five senior appearances for the Reds, three of which coming in the Europa League as well as an appearance as a substitute away at Arsenal in the Premier League. Rossiter then moved on to Rangers on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 but his spell in Glasgow was blighted by injuries with his four-year stay culminating in just 16 appearances and loan spells at Bury and Fleetwood Town. The decision reinforces the fact that a busy transfer window is necessary for the Gas who now appear to have lost 14 players which could rise further over the course of the summer. Rovers currently have new signing Isaac Hutchinson as well as Kamil Conteh, Luke McCormick, Grant Ward and Antony Evans as their central midfielder options along with youngsters Jerry Lawrence and Kofi Shaw with pre-season expected to start next Monday. Meanwhile, the Gas' latest arrival Clinton Mola can play in defensive midfield despite predominantly being a left-back.

The writings been on the wall for a while now, concerning Jordan Rossitters BR-exit.
To a certainextent it strikes me Taylors style would'nt suit Jordan as the defensivelong ball by-passes the midfield. At least from what I understand of Taylors style.
A very good player but if he wants gone then so be it.
Good luck to him.

Great player on paper, but was on the treatment bench for far too long, go with our good wishes, shows we should look at minutes on the pitch as well as talent.

Former Bristol Rovers midfielder Jordan Rossiter on trial at League One rivals Shrewsbury Town following Gas departure..By Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9445401.ece/ALTERNATES/s1176b/0_JS330278819.jpgThe 27-year-old left Rovers upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season and is currently on the look out for a new club, with Shrewsbury starting the midfielder in their 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Derby County on Saturday. Rossiter was also on trial at Stockport County earlier in the summer having been spotted in pictures shared on their social media accounts. The Salops have already signed two players whose contracts with the Gas expired at the end of last season in Luca Hoole and John Marquis with the pair also starting against Derby. Playing around 70 minutes, the Liverpool academy product seemed to impress for the Shropshire outfit with head coach Paul Hurst saying to BBC Radio Shropshire post-match: "I just thought that the midfielder did pretty well. I thought he broke up play well. He clearly understands the position and showed a lot of knowhow out there. "I think he did impress. He impressed someone who was shouting for me to sign him but I think for some people he wouldn't always be the obvious one. He did a lot of things that I think his teammates and staff would really be keen on." Rossiter made a total of just four appearances for Rovers last season, playing in the final quartet of their matches having endured a horrific 16 months where knee surgery led to a serious infection, of which there was a one-in-10,000 chance of getting, that made the 27-year-old really ill.

Surprised that Hula Hoole got a L1 move, and absolutely shocked that Marquis did. I expect the Salops to be fighting relegation.

Jordan, when fit and with Rovers playing a Joe Barton style of football, was an excellent footballer
In the scenario he had managed to not be so unlucky with injury ,he would of stayed top division.
The ability to play 2 touch and often 1 touch makes him a great player.

I guess if he’d not had the injuries he’d not have been with us in the first place. I wish him well and hope he gets a new club. UTG!

However on this occasion….. You never know how things will unwind but I think the FBs we’ve signed have made us a stronger team defensively. Omerchere is younger and stronger and more mobile than Marquis and I don’t think with Rossiter’s injury record we could have been expected to give him what he was probably looking for in a contract. On those dates bt I guess that will all go out of the window and they will be determined to prove something. 🤔 UTG!

I don't think there is any bum biting to be concerned about;
Rossiter will be out injured. Marquis will be struggling for form. Hoole will just struggle in a poor team.
As mentioned earlier, the Shrews might find life difficult this season.
