Copa Libertadores: Flamengo versus Athletico Paranaense shown live on BBC..
Date: Saturday, 29 October Venue: Estadio Monumental in Guayaquil, Ecuador
Coverage: Watch live on iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and app (UK only)The final of South America's Copa Libertadores will be broadcast live across the BBC on Saturday. Two-time champions Flamengo will play Luiz Felipe Scolari's Athletico Paranaense at the Estadio Monumental in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Athletico Paranaense last reached the Copa final in 2005, when they suffered a 4-0 defeat by Sao Paulo. The match will be shown live on iPlayer and streamed on the BBC Sport website, with kick-off at 21:00 BST. Flamengo secured their place in the final for a third time in four years, with a dominant 6-1 semi-final win on aggregate, over Velez Sarsfield. It was also to be a memorable night for Argentine striker Lucas Pratto who netted his 30th Copa goal and for Pedro who scored his 12th goal of the tournament. But it was not as smooth sailing for Athletico Paranaense, who battled back from defeat to draw 2-2 against two-time defending champions Palmeiras. The Brazilian side are managed by former Chelsea manager Scolari, who led Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002 and Portugal to the semi-finals in 2006. Former Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho re-joined Athletico this summer, 17 years after leaving them for Shakhtar Donetsk. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2386/production/_127249090_gettyimages-1189609623.jpgFlamengo have lifted the Copa in 2019 and 1981 ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/1310E/production/_127249087_gettyimages-1242047798.jpgAthletico Paranaense Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari

Vamos Mengo! Went to the Maracana to watch Mengo just before the pandemic, met a couple of lads who I've stayed in touch with and watched last years final in a bar in Madrid with the Madrid Supporters Branch. Hoping Gabigol and the lads bring the cup back to Rio.

Result: Flamengo 1 (Barbosa Almeida 45+4) Athletico Paranaense 0 (Ribeiro Gonçalves (Sent off 43) Stats: 73% - 27% - Shots 15-9 - On Target 4-3 - Referee: Patricio Loustau Gabriel Barbosa scored the only goal of the game as Flamengo beat 10-man Athletico Paranaense 1-0 to win their third Copa Libertadores. The all-Brazilian clash at Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha in Ecuador was ultimately decided by the man nicknamed 'Gabigol' in first-half stoppage time. An even opening 45 looked like it was going to end all square, but Pedro Henrique was sent off after picking up his second yellow card in the 43rd minute for a foul on Ayrton Lucas to tip the scales in Flamengo's favour. Athletico were made to pay shortly after when neat work by Everton Ribeiro on the right ended with the Brazil forward crossing for Barbosa to tap in at the far post in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Barbosa could have had another six minutes into the second half when Giorgian de Arrascaeta played him in on goal, but Athletico goalkeeper Bento smothered his effort as Luiz Felipe Scolari's team tried to stay in the contest. Athletico substitute David Terans hit a free-kick from almost 30 yards that forced Aderbar Santos into a good save to his left late on, but Dorival Junior's team held on for a famous win. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/18101/production/_127416589_gettyimages-1243927107.jpg
