We have played the Shrimps just 8 times since 2011, W5, D1, L2, We have won 3-4 and lost 0-3. They play at the Mazuma Stadium since 2010, which has a capacity of 6,476 replacing the old Christie Park stadium. Their bitter rivals are Accrington Stanley, others include Fleetwood, Lancaster, Barrow, Kendal & Southport. Ex BRFC goalkeeper Adam Smith is in their current squad, playing 36 games for us a few seasons ago. Manager Derek Adams in his 2nd spell has managed Morecambe in over 100 games. Morecambe are 1 from bottom in the table without a win in the 6 games played so far. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62768939just seen this as well.....

Some decent football played in spells.Woodwork struck twice.New players good.
Joe is experimenting still, but I think he has the players to see us playing good winning football.
There is eg some serious pace, Harvey Saunders,Harry Anderson , Sylvester Jasper,Clarkys no slouch.
Getting better!

Just seen a few highlights from Sky.
Aaron's first shot off the post was a brilliant effort.
Poor marking helped Shrimps first goal, sleepy sleepy, although fair play,he put it away very well.

Stats: BRFC 2 Morecambe 2 - 61% - 39% - Shots 23-8 - On Target 7-4 - Corners 11-2 - Fouls 10-14 - Yellows 2-1 - Referee: Dean Whitestone - Attendance 8,821.
Bobby Thomas struck late on his debut for Bristol Rovers as Morecambe's winless start to the League One season continued following a 2-2 draw.
The transfer deadline day loan signing from Burnley rifled in after Antony Evans' corner dropped his way on the edge of the six-yard box on 80 minutes for a late equaliser.
Jensen Weir had whipped a shot into the top corner from outside the area on 12 minutes to give the visitors the lead, as the Brighton loanee grabbed his second league goal of the season, with the home side caught out following a short corner.
But Ryan Loft tapped in a delightful Aaron Collins cross on 29 minutes to level after the 25-year-old had delivered a pinpoint pass from Rovers' right.
Derek Adams' team retook the lead when Kieran Phillips slotted in on 53 minutes to cap a fine breakaway and James Belshaw tipped away four minutes later to stop Phillips grabbing another.
Collins hit the woodwork twice in the first half in a fine individual display, as both sides gained a point.
ROVERS: Belshaw, Gordon, Kilgour, Finley, Marquis, Collins, Coutts (c), Loft, Evans, Hoole, Thomas.
Subs: Jaakkola, Whelan, Saunders, Clarke, Jasper, McCormick, Anderson.
MORECAMBE: Ripley, Love, Gibson, Rawson, Taylor, Fane, Weir, Bedeau, Watts, Shaw, Phillips.
Subs: Smith, Connolly, McLoughlin, Cooney, O'Connor, Mayor, Rooney.

Just seen the highlights too. Thought both their goals were well worked though we were a bit slow to close down the first. The ball from their no 15 around our CH for their second was sublime. Excellent skill from Collins for our first and Loft seems to have worked out where the net is. Wasn’t there so can’t comment on the game but really need to win home games like the last two to make sure we don’t get sucked into a relegation dogfight

Shrews,Fleetwood and Oxford have also failed to beat Morecambe in the 3rd tier so far.
Derek Adams said today was the Shrimps best game of the season. He was a happy bloke at ft.

Their number 15 who made the second goal also scored the first - Jensen Weir. On loan from Brighton who paid Wigan £500K for him after a handful of appearances. One to watch for the future I think
Edit - just watched highlights on TV - was their number 17 Watts who provided the through ball for their second

We have been begging for wide players to replace Anderson, Thomas and Nicholson so I was gobsmacked when both Jasper and Harry Anderson were named as sub's for this fixture.
When introduced both provided the outlet needed, Anderson was burning their full back for pace while Jasper was proving a tricky opponent and linked well with Clarke.
Sadly an all to brief introduction to have a hope of winning all 3 points

Just got back..
Entertaining match, fair result and credit to Morecambe coming down to try to win and playing football.
Wonder strike for their 1st but no one was closing down quick enough (Evans was just a bystander) and us mucking around giving the ball away while trying to be clever let that number 23 finish cooly.
Lovely start to see debut goal for Bobby boy!
Nice to see the Mem busy and loud.
We are where we are.... Shrewsbury and Morecambe points reaped are disappointing and I feel we should be capitalising on more but it is what it is and a tricky couple of away matches coming up...

Lewis Gibson and Bobby Thomas will certainly help us defensively this season and both can pass the ball nicely. Our best 3,4 and 5 might be a selection challenge.
It's good Joe has players that can pass the ball all over the field.
Fair play to Lofty,he's giving his all and scoring lately.
Thing is Josh Coburn can probably do all Lofty can (he's a big bloke too) but also,he can score with his head.
I like Jordan Rossitter and I think he'll be back in the 11 quite soon after serving his suspension. He's one of those players that can do the 'tackle pass'.Nipping in and in 1 touch taking the ball away from a player and with that 1 touch find a team mate.Very aware of what's going on around himself.
I'm quite confident we will continue to improve.

I think we have definately got the ability to compete in this league but we just need to start playing as a team and gel together a little more. I am sure that will come though with more matches played, we'll be ok.

It always disconcerts me when we're in Division 4, that with the resources, fanbase and tradition of the club we are punching way below where I think we could be.
It's no disrespect to any teams in 4th division or below, because it's humbling experience when you play non league venues and clubs 1/3rd of your size and they turn you over easy.
Unless you are millennial, I grew up with Rovers being pretty much where we are now - competitive in this division, or even above - and even though Morecambe have smaller fanbase, they are established for a couple of years here and even their manager post match testifies: they're just happy to stay here in League 1.
We can hope for more. But for now I'm content. Just about. I think we have potential to do better, but if anyone thinks we're going to trouble the top 6, well they're seeing something I'm not. We're way off. Except, alphabetically...

We have good players for every position now.
Once Joe gets em firing on all cylinders as a team,we'll give all opposition a game.

Not so sure Basel, we may have some potentially good players but why are they not performing ? I have a good idea but will keep it to myself. For instance, look at Evans, a pale shadow of the player he was and we just do not have the creative players, other than on paper. I do understand it’s early days but i am concerned that by end of next 2 matches, we will be down in the relegation spots

Evans isn't a shadow of himself at all. He's had to play out of position by necessity and can hardly be expected to be a creative maestro when he's been playing as a midfield anchor.
