He was asked whether defeat to Manchester City would ruin his summer: "No, it will not be the case. Always after a couple of days it will settle down and you move into the summer.
"We had a good season, but, of course we have a great opportunity to make it a very good season."
On whether the final will give any indication of the gap between the two sides: "Of course, it is a test, but you can’t set the conclusions on the basis of one game, you need more, already I make the conclusions but nevertheless it is a good test on Saturday."
On his message to fans eager to stop City winning the Treble: "We want to win a cup, it is not about stopping them, it is about winning the cup. We have a great opportunity."
'We are in a good direction'
Erik ten Hag on whether the FA Cup final against Manchester City is his biggest game so far as Manchester United manager: "It is great that we deserve that opportunity to be in a cup final and meet Man City. It is a great opportunity and we fought so hard for it, we progressed so well that we are in the FA Cup final."
On how soon his United team will be in a position to challenge City for the Premier League title: "I think they do very good job, they play very good football so they deserve it.
"Of course, I look at our opponents but we look to ourselves and you have to see where you are as a club and from there you have to make progress and I think we did over the last season, we made very good progress, we are in a good direction and we have our opportunity in the summer to make new targets, new goals over the short term.
"In the longer term they will stay the same. I said last year, we want to restore United but we have a way to go."
'It is about the players who are available'
More from Erik ten Hag on the impact of Anthony Martial missing the FA Cup final through injury: "These questions so many times from you about the absence of players and every time I say the same thing, it is about the players who are available and many times we were successful. We have a good squad and from the good squad we make a good team."
On whether Antony will be fit to play: "Unlikely, still a chance but it’s a really small chance. He didn’t make progress. So he still has a chance but unlikely he is available."
'Wembley is probably the best stadium in the world'
Erik ten Hag on whether he is excited about the FA Cup final: "Very and I have played many cup finals in the Netherlands as a player and as a coach and it was always fantastic experiences.
"In the Netherlands, we have De Kuip and that is a special place to be, but Wembley is probably the best stadium in the world and to be there in a cup final is really exciting."
On whether this is the biggest game of his career: "I don’t know. I had some more. It is definitely a big game but I don’t want to make an assessment on what is the biggest.
"We have a great opportunity against a great opponent and we are looking forward to the test. Every game you have to win. Football is about winning and results, every game you play, you have to win."
'In the summer we start again from zero'
Erik ten Hag on whether he is satisfied with his first season in charge: "I think it is very good when you see where we came from and you see the development and the progress of the team - in a tough league like the Premier League and you are third and winning the League Cup and in final of FA Cup. You can be happy with the season, but I know in the summer we start again from zero."
Finally, a word on whether the FA Cup final will be Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst's final game for the club: "I don’t know. You can’t say that at the moment. I am not at the moment into transfer politics. At the moment I am in this game and we will do everything. Wout made a very good contribution to the team result from where we took him."
