Loved James Alexander Gordon's voice after matches, so typically British, just like Murray Walker or even Alan Dedicoat.

Tbh 5.00 was always too early for those of us who go regularly to live football on a Saturday. On Saturday I was just getting into the car at 5.05 thinking I’d miss most of the classified results. It’s been like this for many years. Going back to the 70s 80s it was ok but now very few matches end by 4.45 nowadays, it’s nearer 4.55 with all the injury time so by the time people get back to the car it’s half way through. And I noticed that the results for each league were gabbled through by whoever before the 5.30 match started. So to an extent I thought it was more thoughtful to the live-football watching fan. I still agree with everyone disliking how PL- centric the BBC can be on a Saturday afternoon but the timing of stuff is ok. The 5.00 classified was always about those who weren’t racing back to their cars, if you could park close ok but not if you had a fair walk. And I don’t have one of those phones that tells you stuff!
UTG!

UTG! I follow grass roots football, always back in the car for 5pm. This is a great result for TalkSport. An own-goal for the BBC.

That’s a fair enough response epping. I was of course thinking only of League football where my argument is, imo, valid. For non-league aficionados and groundhoppers they may well be back in the car by 5.00. I apologise for presumption! Blimey, I was almost taking the BBC stance of there only being the PL in the sense that I thought there was only EFL football. Unforgivable seeing as I often dip into Weymouth or Dorchester for my non league fix! I will sit on the naughty step for a few minutes! 😢 UTG!

The results thing on BBC1 was like many other things on the BBC, a relic of the past.

The naughty step is not required Sir... you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. I'm a bit of a traditionalist. This smacks of the BBC giving yet more time for their fawning premiers**t coverage at the expense of the 'normal' supporter who is interested in life out-side the top flight. The BBC don't have highlights of the EFL or National League - so now they don't even bother giving out the scores. I think that's a bit crap. Yes, smart phones obviously give you updates, but if I'm watching a game - I don't care what the scores are around the country... so... I wait and listen to the radio. Well TalkSport now (though they do rattle through the scores too quickly).

I think I’m also a bit of a traditionalist epping but having missed most of the results over the past 30 odd years as I’m walking back to the car I’m not as worried as some about this and on Saturday, I think it was Mark Chapman, the results were given out Division by Division. Not quite with the same gravitas granted but they were given, albeit in a hurry.
More to the point, what really p***** me off most of all is AFC Bournemouth! Now they are a PL side they don’t give any other half times except the PL! How dare they, don’t they even remember where they came from. Now that really does take the mick! As I tell everyone in the vicinity of me in the stand. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised I.
UTG!

Premiers**t results delivered in awe, giving the utmost respect to these giants of the sporting world. Then a very quick mumble through 'the rest' in a "I really don't care about these mind-numbingly dull EFL fixtures" type stylee. (Talk Radio also do this). Have no fear though - the BBC has highlights for the FA Cup and will be bigging up the Cup fixtures for these EFL Clubs. The same Clubs they cease to bother with in a league context. Rant over.
