A nervy opening game,we played well in patches but were lacking up front. Marquis looked two yards off the pace and unfit, hopefully a goal or two will give him some confidence as Barton has a lot of faith in him..Winning goal from FGR was simply delicious and had to be admired..Really hard to judge everything on one game but like last season we haven't hit the ground running but expect us to improve slowly.

Stats: BRFC 1 FGR 2 - 52% - 48% - Shots 8-17 - On Target 3-7 - Corners 4-7 - Fouls 14-13 - Yellows 1-4 - Referee Robert Lewis - Attendance 9,064.
Regan Hendry scored a late winner as Forest Green marked their maiden League One game with a memorable 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers.
The Scottish midfielder curled in an 89th-minute winner from the edge of the penalty area to give last season's League Two champions victory over their newly-promoted West Country rivals at the Memorial Ground.
Hendry's heroics not only secured his side a victory but also gave new manager Ian Burchnall a successful start to life with the Gloucestershire club.
Until he intervened, it looked as though the local bragging rights would be shared.
The visitors had taken the lead through defender Jordan Moore-Taylor as he headed in a perfectly-flighted 55th-minute corner by Hendry.
Former Forest Green striker Aaron Collins showed his old club what they are missing with a trademark finish, coolly slotting home in the 71st minute after being teed up by substitute Harvey Saunders to make it 1-1.
But Hendry had the final say to give his side a winning start to life in the third tier.

Not sure we deserved to lose today. First 30 minutes was ours, as was the first 15 of the second half. FGR played very effective counter attacking football and their second goal was pure class, especially the finish. Apologies to Steptoe, who I assured at half time that we would win 4 nil. (Got the Scunny game right though đ) Onwards and upwards and we'll finish above them and Exeter. Not sure about PV though. I reckon Darrell might be up for his next push forward. UTFG â˝ď¸đ´ââ ď¸ Funny how a fair few seem to be saying their second was, in no way, an attempt at goal. I wasnât there but those i trust to report, honestly, say it was a corker

Badly missed Coutts and Finley yesterday. They would have improved the team greatly, but we still need strengthening Agreed Sprout. Maybe one of them would of got a tackle in or block to stop Hendry scoring that superb goal. The midfield could of been won. "Strengthening". The big striker that headed FGR infront quite comfortably ,with the two Gas players 'challenging ' him looking like they usually work with Snow White! A big ch will be welcome, although we still have to be patient.

I see the players still bowed down on one knee pre ko.
A woke gesture that now appears well past its sell by date.
The gesture is connected to the political group Black Lives Matter.
BLM has now been soundly discredited. Corrupt with dangerous far Left ideas.
Rich virtue signalling footballers, please get the politics off the field of play and supporters ,please leave politics at the turnstile.

Rich virtue signalling footballers, please get the politics off the field of play and supporters ,please leave politics at the turnstile. Parts of BLM try to make being white a crime, and too many contemporary feminists try to make being male a crime. This is invariably denied, but the undertone is always there, as shown when 'white male' is used in entirely pejorative terms, as if the solution would be for this demographic to disappear or preferably commit collective suicide. Feminists would do well to reflect on the fact that their creed appeals to such a limited number of people (including women) because they so frequently come across as petty (obsessed with regulating speech), whiny and filled with a sense of their eternal and unending victimhood. No wonder that they so frequently alienate those who would otherwise consider themselves to be supporters of women's equality (including myself). Due to the actions of a small, unrepresentative and unaccountable number of individuals, both give the impression (even if this isn't the case) that they are more about hate than genuine equality and are doomed to fail for precisely this reason. They would do well to consider the example of the ANC, which sought to overcome racial differences rather than enshrine them, and which was genuinely inclusive (including white Afrikaners) and representative.

Hopefully not when a thieving thug junkie in the US gets murdered by a horrible copper. So of course it won't be long before the EFL follow suit. Bowing down on one knee, to the now exposed, thieving and dangerous far Left political group BLM has 'finished'. Hip hip......HURRAH!

Bowing down on one knee, to the now exposed, thieving and dangerous far Left political group BLM has 'finished'. Hip hip......HURRAH! I am in agreement with the ending of taking the knee as it has lost its effectiveness and now caters to the bigots who hate it allowing them opportunity to boo and vent their spleen. However Bas, if you had read the press releases when football decided to 'take the knee' it was in support of BAME football team mates and an anti racist stance against what happens in society and nothing to do with BLM but don't let facts get in the way of your raging anger towards those who try to prevent racism in sport Bas. Gary Southgate - âI have never believed that we should just stick to football,â Southgate said. âI know my voice carries weight, not because of who I am but because of the position that I hold. At home, Iâm below the kids and the dogs in the pecking order but publicly I am the England menâs football team manager. I have a responsibility to the wider community to use my voice, and so do the players. âItâs their duty to continue to interact with the public on matters such as equality, inclusivity and racial injustice, while using the power of their voices to help put debates on the table, raise awareness and educate.âThe Football Association Press Release on its continuation in August 2021 - The FA, Premier League, English Football League, Barclays FA Womenâs Super League, FA Womenâs Championship, PFA, LMA, FSA, PGMOL and Kick It Out will collectively support all players, managers and individuals who wish to take the knee ahead of matches this season.
Since last June, many players have chosen to perform this simple yet powerful act of taking the knee to protest against racism and discrimination, and in doing so, have elevated important conversations on these issues in society. Following a fantastic summer of international football, our excitement for the return of our domestic competitions must be matched by our resolve to stand together against racism and all forms of discrimination. There is no place in football or society for any form of prejudice and while there have been strides made across our game, recent events have reminded us there is still much work to be done. After more than a year of football behind closed doors, we are looking forward to welcoming back supporters. Football is not the same without the fans and they are what makes our game so special. They also have an important role to play to combat discrimination whether that be reporting incidents, calling out abuse or simply being considerate towards each other. Taking the knee is an individual choice that many players wish to make as a way of peacefully demonstrating against racism and injustice. This gesture of unity is not new, and we do not view it as an alignment to any political organisation or ideology, but rather raising the awareness of this important issue. We ask that fans respect any player that wishes to take the knee and support them in their stance against discrimination. While not all players will choose to express their opposition to discrimination through taking the knee, players, clubs and authorities are committed to work as a collective to address all prejudiced behaviour through the coming season and beyond.
Players and officials in each competition will continue to wear dedicated campaign sleeve badges for the 2021/22 season which acts as a constant reminder of the commitment made by authorities, clubs and players to combat racism and discrimination. This includes âNo Room For Racismâ in the Premier League, âNot Today or Any Dayâ in the EFL and continued support for Kick It Outâs âTake A Standâ initiative across the Barclays FA Womenâs Super League and the FA Womenâs Championship. English football will never accept racism or any form of discrimination in our game and we will use every opportunity to send a strong unified message that we are together against inequality. This includes continuing our collective efforts to lobby Government on the Online Safety Bill and urging social media companies to act faster and take action to protect their users from abuse. Mark Bullingham, FA CEO said: â We stand firmly against all forms of prejudice, so a key pillar of our strategy is to use our influence to deliver a game free from discrimination. We are striving to ensure that football at all levels is a safe environment for all, embracing diversity and inclusion, whilst challenging hateful conduct both on and off the pitch. âWe are very clear on what this symbolic gesture originally stood for 200 years ago and what it continues to stand for today, and that is a fight against injustice, inequality and discrimination. We will support any players who wish to take a stand against racism and discrimination by taking a knee. They have our unequivocal support.â

The connection was blatantly there. George Flyod ,a black man,was murdered by a white cop,on the other side of the planet, in the US. This got the BLM group huge support. Footballers in England took the knee. The association with BLM angered many fans. Then it was said the knee is being taken purely as a protest against racism. Too late. The connection was made.Well that's my recollection. Now BLM have been exposed to be every bit as bad as many people claimed, the 'taking of the knee' nonsense is stopping. I feel sorry for Brits that may of sent these crooks money.Millions of dollars are missing! As for those that proudly put a photo of themselves taking the knee up on social media, well nevermind. đ

Then for the wearing of the BLM logo on shirts, there are articles about. Google eg BLM logo worn by Premier players. You may of missed the BLM logo wearing Chesh ,because it only lasted maybe 8 to 10 games at the end of one season, with it being dropped/swapped for the general anti rasist logo/badge the start of the next season. Sorry,I still can't link things I just aim for Google and type in appropriate search words.

Premier League players will stop the pre-match anti-racism gesture of taking the knee before every match.
Top-flight clubs started taking a knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement, which rose to prominence following the death of George Floyd in the United States in May 2020.
Premier League captains took the decision after consulting with players.
The gesture will instead be seen before certain rounds of games, including the Boxing Day fixtures and cup finals.
Players and staff will also take the knee before the first and last matches of the 2022-23 campaign as well as dedicated No Room for Racism match rounds in October and March.
The gesture took place before the Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City last Saturday.
Captains and players are said to believe that 'less is more' - hoping when the knee is taken it will have greater impact.
"We have decided to select significant moments to take the knee during the season to highlight our unity against all forms of racism and in so doing we continue to show solidarity for a common cause," said a joint statement from the Premier League captains.
"We remain resolutely committed to eradicate racial prejudice, and to bring about an inclusive society with respect and equal opportunities for all."
The gesture was inspired by NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who decided on the silent protest against racial oppression by kneeling during the US national anthem.
However, Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha stopped in February 2021, saying at the time that "at the moment it doesn't matter whether we kneel or stand, some of us still continue to receive abuse".
Several Championship clubs, including Derby, Brentford, Bournemouth and Queens Park Rangers, also stopped taking a knee around that time.
Swansea City and Bristol City recently announced they would be stopping the action as well.
"We met with the captains last week, they're still totally committed to the issue," Premier League chief executive Richard Masters told BBC Sport on Tuesday.
"For two years now taking the knee has become part of the pre-match ritual. The players fear it's losing power and momentum and we will see it take place in a different format.
"It's up to the players to decide themselves and we support them in whatever decision they make, as do the clubs."
Prior to the decision to scale back the taking of the knee, anti-racism charity Kick It Out's chairman Sanjay Bhandari said he would support the players in whatever decision they made.
"We should be spending more time on why players take a knee rather than whether they take a knee or not," said Bhandari on Tuesday.
"The reason they take a knee is because we are not living in an equal society. There is discrimination. There is a huge amount of online abuse.
"It is using their platform to raise awareness and says to the people in power you need to act. Whatever they do, I will support any kind of peaceful gesture.
"The point is we still need to be doing something to raise awareness and to keep things like the online safety bill on the agenda."
