I saw him in W H Smith in Clifton Down Shopping Centre at lunchtime today, perhaps he was doing some research?

Would be interesting to know the makeup of the Committee. Anyway I think it is a positive development, the merchandise has been rubbish for years. The proof will be in the pudding.

Im on the team. There were 10 of us there, I believe a further five couldn't make it. Apparently, around 60 people had applied. It seemed as though the people chosen had different skill sets and experience relevant to the task ahead. Which I found encouraging. As you can imagine, being the first meeting, a lot of time was spent with introductions and background history, rather than problem solving. There were 10 people, all with their own ideas and it was hard to remain focused. In trying to find a focal point, and a major category to attack, children's wear was identified as being the biggest priority. This was based on our own gut feelings as well as the feedback that has been provided by fans over the last couple of weeks on the forums and Facebook. Focusing on one area doesn't mean everything else has been forgotten and a few of us will also be looking at other areas before we next meet up in a month. I am looking into possible designs for t-shirts, which I would like honest opinions from everybody here when I have some sample ideas.
I'm still open minded and hopeful that, if done well, this could be a great idea. My concern is keeping everything factual, measurable, methodical and focused. Mainly because it's such an emotive subject and there is a lot of passionate people involved.
Please bear with us, it won't be a quick fix.
P.S. With regards my project, does anybody know of a Rovers fan who has a screen printing business? It is my suggestion that we keep our business within Bristol where possible, and ideally with Rovers fans. I put it to Barry that some fans MAY be willing to do a good deal with BRFC for the return favour of free programme advertising/hospitality etc. I know how rumours spread so I must emphasise, this is NOT the club being cheap, this is MY suggestion, as I know if I were a owner of a business, I would be keen to help out, for a return favour I just want to take a small step in to making this a club we can feel part of.

Encouraging start.
Most comments I've heard (and would be interesting to hear if you've had similar experiences) is that people would be willing to pay a little extra for better quality - maybe something branded as a "premium range"?? Stylish, more subtly branded, high quality leisure wear as opposed to "in your face" sloganed t-shirts (which have their place too of course) - if you get my drift!
I think there is room at both ends of the market. Depends upon margins too of course.
Just a thought...

Good on you BP, IMO this is a huge step forward as far as allowing fans on board to help with club improvements, it is exactly what many people have been calling for for a long time in terms of fan involvement. I don't think people would think that your request is for doing things on the cheap as it's easy to see that fan involvement is a positive thing and its pleasing to see some of the board members now regarding the fan base as more than useful in its future marketing plans, I'm not a fan as such of BB but at least he has taken the step of as good as admitting that his strategies have not worked and is allowing people with specific expertise and a passion for the club on board and that IMO is a big step and one that other (ex) members of the board would do well to learn from. It makes total sense to use all the expertise available to get out of this mess and there is no shortage of expertise on the terraces and in the stands that would stretch beyond the club shop, it will be interesting to see how this works out and to see if this is used in other areas such as IT set up, IMO it would repair previous issues relating to fans being turned away, maybe NH is in favour of this, one would assume that BB would be unable to arrange this without NH's say so. One thing that anyone working for the club in a paid capacity IE the t-shirt printing should carefully consider is the terms of business and payment and ensure the club is paying for stock in a timely manner, no one would want to see the message boards awash with stories of fans not being paid, just a thought given the level of debt at the club and the current way in which NH has decided to run the club. Best wishes to you BP, here's to an improved merchandise department and forging stronger links between the BoD and the supporters, hopefully this is the first sign of new beginnings, it doesn't take a genius to see that when Dennis Dunford had some great volunteers on board in times of adversity the club went from strength to strength. Oh to have a 1990 year again soon eh.

BRISTOL PIRATE
Can I make one plea.
There is a whole world out there beyond Facebook, Twitter and other social media/forums.
You need to make a special effort to contact those supporters who are not on the above, I am not on Facebook or Twitter and have no wish to be.
A start could be to engage with supporters in the family enclosure to get their views. How you contact other supporters I leave up to you but a constant criticism I hear from supporters is that they are unaware of some things going on because they do not use these social media.
Best of luck in your endeavours.

A very small step but a step in the right direction non the less. It looks like Barry, at least, is grasping the nettle at last.

Talk about not knowing what is on your own doorstep! Perhaps they are looking at increased quality on merchandise? I thought that was one major gripe before about the quality, there is a market for JK's t-shirts but its not everyones cup of tea, if it was John would be driving a Ferrari by now after all these years.

Well, having just had a baby (or at least my wife did), I would agree that they need more baby clothes, and better quality. The one item that we received, the badge disintegrated after one 90 degree wash. So there.

He does seem to have the knack of knowing what sort of items will be popular though. Hopefully the group has a good range of ages and incomes to inform the decisions made, it's not an easy task they've taken on.

I never really understood the need for this... Whats to stop the club going to Brighton and Hove Albion (or any of the other 91...) and asking them what their biggest sellers are in the club shop? It's a pretty similar target audience.
