Terrific day for the bowling!! Apart from the concussion suffered by Leach, NZ all out for 132..England start well with Lees and Crawley then Crawley just goes a bit dumb and gives up his wicket when looking set...and the rest of the day is pretty much what went on in Aussie .quite appalling for professional cricketers...England end the day 7 down and still 16 runs behind... The Brothers Grimm would be mocked if they were to write this as a fairytale I'm sure....

A nice stand of 87 for the 5th wicket by Mitchell & Blundell will take it into day 3.
Potts has taken 6 wickets on debut, out for a duck, 2 catches and walked off with cramp.
Anderson, Broad & Potts bowling well, Stokes & Parkinson taking a bit of stick.

On day 1 NZ were as wide as 14-1. Currently 4-9. A very strange couple of days cricket...

Get ready for an exciting morning session! England should win it but if Roots wicket goes very early it could all change.

Yep, it's all down to Joe Root now. The first hour today is must watch sport.
As an aside, in this innings Root needs exactly 100 runs to reach 10,000 Test runs. If he can do that and win the game for England it will be one hell of a day for him personally.

Job done...stress free Root at his best, big up to Foakes also, played very calm and steady, will have done his confidence no end of good

Well done Joe Root, to come back from what’s been a bad year and play like that today shows real character. And today, Ben Foakes played his part as well.
