Somerset made 141 off their 19 overs, and then went on to beat a very strong Surrey side by 24 runs with some 8 balls remaining, Essex v Somerset it is , weather is still looking dicey...

Somerset reach 145,-9 off their 20, having defended 141 in the semi, it will be hard, but should be confident enough to get there🤞.. pitch is quite slow so some educated bowling from Overton and Green should set the tone

Sublime performance from Somerset over those two games, to defend those totals you deserve to win...and over the season they have just kept serving up those type of performances,no bottle this time. 👍😊🏆

Eddie, Kent: You wouldn't know this is the T20 Blast final. Never seen a crowd so quiet. Not a good look for the game in this country.

T20 Blast: Somerset see off Essex to win trophy for second time..By Ged Scott, BBC Sport at Edgbaston.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D9B1/production/_130392755_dicko.jpg Sean Dickson's half-century in his first Finals Day was his first of the seasonSomerset ended an 18-year wait to win the T20 for the second time as they beat Essex at Edgbaston. Having won the trophy in only its third year of existence when they beat Lancashire at The Oval in 2005, this was their first T20 Blast triumph at Edgbaston. And they did it in remarkable fashion, twice defending scores of 145 or less, to beat 2003 inaugural winners Surrey in the second semi-final and then 2019 winners Essex to crown themselves Kings of the South. In the second all-Southern Finals Day in three years, after Kent's triumph in 2021, and Hampshire's a year ago, this time it was the West Country who came out on top. And they clinched victory in thrilling style with a stunning one-handed catch by Tom Kohler-Cadmore with his outstretched left arm to remove Daniel Sams for 45, just when his late power hitting threatened to win the game for Essex, to give Matt Henry a fourth wicket, and his 31st of the tournament. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/100C1/production/_130392756_henry.jpgMatt Henry and Somerset team-mate Ben Green are the only bowlers in this year's T20 Blast to reach 30 wickets

A nail-biting afternoon followed by an equally tense evening. To have lost the toss twice and been put into bat with poor weather around on both occasions and actually win both was remarkable. Very rare to bowl a team out on finals day, to have done it twice is very unusual. I’ve been to four finals days with Somerset, going to Cardiff, Southampton and twice to Edgbaston but decided to stay at home and watch it on Sky this time. So pleased for everyone linked to the club. Spent 4 days at Taunton this week watching us get the better of Hampshire without being able to clinch a win. But watching Hampshire struggle over those days I just worried that they would get their revenge today. Not to be. Well done Somerset, the best team in the competition won the competition. 15 wins out of 17 matches. Now all we need is the Holy Grail of the County Championship, but that won’t be this season.

The crowd being quiet….. Well that is one of the problems of Finals day. By the evening half, or nearly half, the crowd have gone home because they lost the semis. That only ever leaves the finalists and Somerset considerably outnumbered Essex fans. And for most of the match it was very tense and people were perhaps quiet and nervous. I was!
As to the catch, you could just about see that his fingers were at the side of the ball but the base of the ball was grounded. Not out but I don’t think there was any serious intent to fool the umpires. Right decision.

Of course he did. Should have had a restart but can you imagine trying to bring order to that chaos? Yep. Disqualify him and award it to Leicestershire’s Foxy.
