Wham mate of mine bought flights & hotel for Barcelona - thinking that should Wham get passed Lyon there would be a massive increase on the price of flights to Spain. If Wham failed to beat Lyon, he still had a trip to the Nou Camp to look forward to - as obviously Barca would beat Frankfurt... Oops. (He reckons Easyjet had moved his flight time and he had the right to cancel flights & hotel this morning). Barca screwed up ticketing and allowed 30,000 Frankfurt fans into the stadium!
In other news RB Leipzig have a DFP semi-final against Union Berlin on April 20th. So they might pick up a few injuries against Union. RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim are the two most disliked teams in the Bundesliga for abusing the 51% rule. You might find a lot of support for Rangers from Germany.

Rangers v Eintracht Frankfurt final. 👍⚽️🇬🇧 Can get 11/4 on Rangers reaching the final. Got to be worth a few bob, when you think they`ve already dumped Dortmund out of the competion. Thursday evenings, certainly seem to bring out the best in them. The last time Rangers played German opposition in a European cup semi final, 80,000 roared them to victory over a side that provided the nucleus of the German team that won the World Cup two years later.

What a night for us Eintracht fans. They only had 4,500 tickets allocated. It is estimated there were 25,000 in the stadium. The tickets were bought from Barce fans. Away support in Germany is not such a big thing as in the UK, but Eintracht are always the exception. After the game, the players and staff of Eintracht stayed on the pitch in front of the fans for at least half an hour, joining in with the fans songs etc. It was fantastic to see instead of the players just walking off with a half-hearted clap above their heads.

There was a huge contingent of FC Koln supporters when they played at Arsenal a few years back... I hope Eintracht are knackered after Thursday. Could get their arses kicked by Union this afternoon. Eisern Union!

Eisern Union! Eintracht do well against the better teams but struggle against the lower teams. This is because if the opposition defend Eintracht don't have the skills to break them down, but as a counter attacking team they are good. Last week Eintracht drew 0-0 at home against the bottom team, against that they won in Bayern!

You have to fancy them at the Standion An der Altern Forsterei after Eintracht's exploits in Barca. Union win at just over evens looks a good bet. Union also tend to be a counter attacking team, but once they take the lead they don't sit back on it. They thumped Hertha 4-1 away last week. They have also lost to both Greuther Furth and Bielefeld...

Great to read that Nobby. Hopefully EF are happy with being runners up to Rangers in the final. 😎😁

Saw Rangers play Koln in what was then the Müngersdorfer Stadium, in the 1978/79 European cup quarter final. Neither set of fans had a reputation for self restraint, and pretty much every available policeman was in the stadium that evening. We lost 1-0, drew 1-1 at Ibrox, and that was that for another year. Forest beat Koln in the semi, and went on to beat Malmo in the final.

RB Leipzig / Rangers. Leipzig very strong favourites at 1/3. They were hammered 1-2 at home by Union April 23rd. If Rangers can sit back and soak up the pressure and hit them on the counter, you never know. Wham / Frankfurt. Wham favourites at 10/11. Frankfurt were slaughtered by Union on April 17th. A lot of Wham fans round here and you have to fancy them winning at the Olympic Stadium. Should be a cracking atmosphere tonight.

As an aside, a friend of my wife played just a single game for Eintracht Frankfurt. He was a goalkeeper, and it was the second leg of the Cup Winners Cup in 1976, against West Ham (?). And it really was the only game he ever played for the first team !

Bloody Eintracht ! So frustrating. They can perform as they did last night, plus the two games against Barce. Win away at Bayern, yet overall their results this season have been pretty poor.
Their fans though...they are something else ! This city will be whipped up into a frenzy before the return leg next week.

Yes, 9th in the league with a pretty poor last 5 games, no chance of the play-offs, but in europe are doing well and looking good for the final.
