Amazing the shirt is worth £4m, also i still cannot understand why none of our players didn't just hack him down, too good a run or we were too honest.

I'm still kicking the "b" as he flies past every other English defender 😂...still not got him yet !!! I think it was Terry Fenwick who had the clearest chance to ensure Diego did not pass. Fenwick. Limited ability. Known for his ability to mercilessly hack down players who were within striking distance of goal. Which he did throughout his career. But on that particular day, he didn't. If only we'd had Massing Benjamin defending it would never have happened. My favorite foul ever. I rarely abandon my Corinthian principles, but here I make an exception. 4 years after the hand of god, retribution on Argentina. It's after 30 seconds. Marvelous. www.bing.com/videos/search?q=you+tube+cameroon+argentina+foul&&view=detail&mid=5C10D91B3ECE220E29455C10D91B3ECE220E2945&rvsmid=3E2542AA05B48FDE39C53E2542AA05B48FDE39C5&FORM=VDQVAP

To be honest, we have seen the 2 goals 100's of times and the wonder goal was stunning, i think he would have leapt over the hack attempts anyway, he was used to it. As for the handball, what a clever deception it was, looking at it he does well to tip the ball past Shilton's fist and disguise the full arm in the air, difficult to spot in real time. On this occasion cheats did prosper and he goes on to lift the trophy, would we own up to diving for example in the area for a penalty against say BC1982LTD. Maradona's career stats are Played 710 and Goals 360, great stats considering he had every thug in the game hacking him down, unlike today.

He was also a cheat (the handball, the drug taking). I hate winning by cheating. So for me - even if it was Rovers player diving against the sh*t in the penalty area. No, I wouldn't celebrate that. Corinthian principles apply. When I chose to apply them!

Fenwick could of punched him,but that was about it to my memory. I once saw him out jogging in Finchley. I shouted as I drove by "how about signing for Bristol Rovers"? He grinned.

Now the ball is to be sold at auction - Diego Maradona 'Hand of God' football set to be sold at auction for £2.5-3m.The ball used by Diego Maradona to score two of the most famous goals in football history is to go on auction. The match ball used in the famous 1986 World Cup quarter final between England and Argentina carries an estimated price of £2.5m to £3m. It is being sold by Ali Bin Nasser, the Tunisian referee who allowed Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal during the game. Bin Nasser said: "This ball is part of football history - it is the right time to be sharing it with the world." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/14147/production/_127074228_gba-hog-ball-05.jpgThe ball was used for the full 90 minutes of the match, which remains one of the most defining and controversial contests in World Cup history. Maradona scored the opener by punching the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton. Bin Nasser did not spot the handball and allowed the goal to stand, with the player later describing it as being "a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God". Maradona's second strike of the match has become known as the 'goal of the century', where he dribbled past five England outfield players and slotted past Shilton. Argentina went on to win the match 2-1 and eventually win the World Cup in Mexico. The ball is being sold at auction on 16 November as part of a World Cup special event. It will be streamed live and prospective buyers can register their bids online from 28 October. "The timing of the match, the history between the two teams and the handball have all led to this match going down as one of the most famous and emotive matches in football history," said Graham Budd, chairman of Graham Budd Auctions. "With the history surrounding the ball, we are expecting this lot to be hugely popular when it comes up for auction." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/C8CF/production/_127070415_gettyimages-.jpgSeveral items of sporting memorabilia have broken records at auctions recently. The shirt Maradona wore during the 1986 quarter final was sold in May for $9.3m (£7.4m), a new world record.

I think people underestimate in this country what Maradona means to the people of Argentina.
Argentina in the 1980’s was a mess. 1983 saw an end to Guerra Sucia where are 30,000 people went missing presumed dead under Argentina’s military junta. The end of the Guetta Sucia (Dirty War) was pretty much forced by the defeat of Argentine forces in the Falklands. A completely pointless war carried out by a failing Government see hundreds of unprepared boys die, get injured or captured. It was only in the years following 1982 that people found out genuinely what happened. It was simply reported as an Argentine win. Add that to the crippling levels of inflation, debt and lack of work, it was a particularly horrific time for the country.
Maradona, his politics the polar opposite to the right wing junta, a black boy from the barrio of Villa Fiorito stood for the working man. He gave them hope. He gave the country hope. He showed Argentina could thrive on the world stage while being unrepentantly Argentine. He was flawed, but the best. He is probably the most important individual in the history of the country. Ahead of the Peron’s. He mirrored Argentina’s societal problems.
Obviously in this country he’s a much chastised figure, a cheat, a druggy… That was never an issue in Argentina.

Sergio Aguero's title-winning Manchester City shirt up for sale..
The shirt worn by Sergio Aguero as he scored his famous last-gasp goal to win Manchester City's first Premier League title is going under the hammer.
The striker's goal in the 93rd minute against QPR on 13 May 2012 secured City's first league title in 44 years.
It was due to go up for auction in May but was withdrawn due to "unforeseen circumstances" never fully explained.
The unwashed and champagne-stained number 16 shirt is expected to fetch at least £20,000.
The match-winner, four minutes into stoppage time, clinched City's 3-2 victory, ensuring Aguero's team beat rivals Manchester United to the Premier League title.
It was Manchester City's first league title since 1968 with the goal widely held to be one of the Premier League's greatest, and prompting broadcaster Martin Tyler's famous "Aguerooo!" commentary line.
The shirt is due to go for auction at Hansons Auctioneers in Etwall, Derbyshire, on 3 November.
David Wilson-Turner, Hansons' head of sports memorabilia, said: "It was arguably the most important goal in the club's history.
"Former Manchester City player Mario Balotelli asked Aguero for the shirt as a souvenir but left it behind with his bag.
"It was obtained by a former Manchester City kitman who donated it the National Football Shirt Collection which loans sporting memorabilia to museums."
Collection owner Neville Evans, from Wales, added: "After Balotelli left the stadium without his bag - and the shirt - the items were transferred to the club's training ground.
"However, they were never claimed.
"After some time had passed, the former Manchester City staff member who found the shirt gifted it to the National Football Shirt Collection via my curator.
"I never planned to sell it but my curator is currently undergoing medical treatment.
"The auction proceeds will be shared between him and two charities important to him, Testicular Cancer UK and the Stroke Association."
