NZ 318-4, Every batter got decent runs with Mitchell 81 & Blundell 67 not out overnight.

Well, when Root was out England were 56-3 chasing 299 to win. At that point I thought they would shut up shop and bat for the draw. However, Bairstow and Stokes appear to be going for it. Currently 128-4.

Well what a final day that was, it turned into a T20 fest, Bairstow hitting a 77-ball ton, the 2nd fastest for England in test matches.
England needed 299 from a minimum of 72 overs, we were 56-3 & 93-4, then 272-5 and victory by 5 wickets.
Bairstow 136, Stokes 71 not out - Boult 3-90.
Final test is 23rd June v NZ 3rd Test at Headingley.

Incredible, just incredible. Johnny Bairstow, take a bow son. Wonder what Boycott made of it? It used to take him the best part of a month, to make 135.

Thing is and not being funny, but you need a Boycott at one end and for e.g a Gooch / Botham at the other. Funny when Beefy was sent in with orders to run him out, Boycs has never forgiven him on that one. I miss Boycott's words of wisdom on TMS.

I think cricket, including test match cricket, has moved on a lot since the days of Boycott. His views were of a game that doesn't exist anymore.

If Boycott had opened we may still have won, but I reckon there would have been about two overs to spare, rather than twenty two.

Buttler 14 x 6's & 7 x 4's in a 162 not out innings (231.43 s/r), Livingstone got 66 not out inc 6 x 6's & 6 x 4's (300.00 s/r). Thanks to their captain for putting us in to bat, what a treat.

2nd ODI v Netherlands at the VRA Ground, Amstelveen, Netherlands won the toss and decided to bat.
Netherlands 235-7 (41 overs) - Edwards 78, Willey & Rashid 2 wickets each. England 239-4 (36.1 overs) - Roy 73, Salt 77, Ali 42no, Malan 36no.
England win by 6 wickets and lead 2-0 with one to play.
England completed a series victory over the Netherlands but under-pressure captain Eoin Morgan once again failed with the bat. England skipper Morgan endured a miserable day, though, with a second duck of the series.

England skipper Morgan endured a miserable day, though, with a second duck of the series. This is an issue we were talking about months ago on this forum. Does Morgan hold a place in the team as a batsman, or a Captain? Looking at the stats he began to fall away as a batsman a couple of years ago.
