Defending champions Australia took a step closer to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup with an eight-wicket win over Bangladesh.

Chasing 108 in Gqeberha, they won with 10 balls to spare, with captain Meg Lanning hitting an unbeaten 48 after opener Alyssa Healy made 37.

Bangladesh made 107-7 with Nigar Sultana Joty scoring 57, while the returning Georgia Wareham claimed 3-20.

Australia go top of Group 1, while Bangladesh sit fourth after two losses.

Sri Lanka 112-8 & Australia 113-0 = Australia Women win by 10 wickets

Defending champions Australia moved within touching distance of the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals with a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Gqeberha.

Beth Mooney hit 56 not out and Alyssa Healy added an unbeaten 54 to help the five-time winners chase down 113.

Sri Lanka had posted 112-8 with Australia's Megan Schutt taking 4-24.

Australia will reach the last four as group winners if they avoid defeat by South Africa in their final Group A match on Saturday.

Only a loss to South Africa combined with both the Proteas and Sri Lanka beating New Zealand in their final group matches, plus an improbable run-rate swing, will see Australia miss out on the semi-finals.

England's group-stage match against India at the Women's T20 World Cup is perfectly set up for a mouth-watering encounter.

While England beat India to triumph in the 2017 50-over World Cup, India have closed the gap in the past year, including beating England in the Commonwealth Games, and the winner of Saturday's clash is tough to predict, with both teams unbeaten in the tournament so far.

At stake is the chance to become favourites to top the group as both sides will be expected to win their final matches against Pakistan and Ireland respectively.

Not only does finishing first boost confidence going into knockout stages, it also makes a semi-final meeting with Australia far less likely as the reigning champions appear set to top their own group - the winner of each group facing the second-placed side from the other.

Australia progressed to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup as they comfortably chased down South Africa's total in Gqeberha.

The hosts posted an opening partnership of 58, but stalled in the middle overs as they set a below-par target of 125.

Five-time champions Australia were reduced to 40-3 in response with Marizanne Kapp picking up two wickets.

But Tahlia McGrath and the unbeaten Ashleigh Gardner rebuilt to see Australia home with 21 balls to spare.

Australia move into the semi-finals with a game to spare as winner of group one, and will likely face India after their defeat to England earlier in the day.

South Africa will have to hope that New Zealand defeat Sri Lanka on Sunday and then beat Bangladesh on Tuesday if they are to reach the knockout stage.

Women's T20 World Cup: England through to semi-finals after Pakistan lose to West Indies..

England qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals after Pakistan slipped to a nervy three-run defeat by West Indies.

Chasing 117, Pakistan needed 18 from a dramatic final over but could only manage 14 to fall agonisingly short.

It meant England are certain to finish in the top two in Group 2 and can guarantee top spot if they avoid defeat to Pakistan on Tuesday.

Rashada Williams earlier hit 30 from 34 balls as West Indies posted 116-6.

The result moved West Indies up to third and level on points with second-placed India, meaning they still have a mathematical chance of reaching the semi-finals.

However, their inferior net run-rate means they need India to lose heavily against Ireland on Monday to overtake them.

If India do lose then Pakistan would also have a chance of reaching the last four if they beat England on Tuesday.

India Women win by 5 runs (DLS Method) as Wareham said above, a shame just too slow.

India qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals with a five-run Duckworth-Lewis-Stern win over Ireland in a rain-curtailed match in Gqeberha.

Ireland were 54-2 in the ninth over, chasing 156, when heavy rain forced an early end to the match.

The win means India join England in qualifying from Group 2.

Smriti Mandhana had earlier survived being dropped four times to hit a career-best 87 from 56 balls to help India reach 155-6.

England still top the group thanks to their superior net run-rate, meaning they are almost certain to progress as group winners - and therefore avoid holders Australia in the semi-finals - barring a heavy defeat against Pakistan on Tuesday.

Ireland captain Laura Delany: "[The rain delay] kind of came out of nowhere and we weren't really prepared for it. We hadn't looked at the DLS score at all, myself and Gaby [Lewis] were only looking to build a partnership and hit boundaries.

"In 2018, it wasn't a level playing field. Cricket Ireland have invested hugely and we're on contracts now. We've gone from strength to strength, even if there are areas to improve on."

Women's T20 World Cup: England set highest total in tournament history to crush Pakistan by 114 runs..

Nat Sciver-Brunt's sublime 81 not out from 40 balls and Danni Wyatt's 59 set up England's 213-5 in Cape Town.

Sciver-Brunt and Amy Jones, who made 47, added a partnership of 100 from just 48 balls for the fourth wicket as Pakistan's bowling and fielding fell apart.

In reply, Pakistan slumped to 99-9 with Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Charlie Dean taking two wickets each to ensure England finished the group stage unbeaten.

In a one-sided encounter England capitalised on misfields, dropped catches and wayward bowling with a dominant performance that sends a clear message to their semi-final opponents - South Africa or New Zealand.

England lost Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey and Heather Knight for single-figure scores but Wyatt, who had previously struggled for runs at the top of the order, continued to attack and reached her half-century from 29 balls in the 12th over.

Nat Sciver-Brunt then followed her important half-century against India with another stunning performance, smashing 12 fours and a six in a brutal display of hitting that left Pakistan depleted.

She was well supported by Jones, who was dropped first ball, as the pair expertly manipulated the field and pummelled the ball to Newlands' huge boundaries with ease.

England's total beat the previous record of 195-3 set by South Africa against Thailand at the 2020 edition of the tournament.

A fine bowling display then capped an extraordinary all-round performance from England as Pakistan, with no choice but to try and attack from the offset, succumbed to England's consistency and an imposing run-rate that never felt within their reach.

England's place at the top of the group confirms they avoid defending champions Australia in the semi-finals, who will play India.
