Yet another World Cup. Have watched a few matches and the batters seem to be finding it difficult to last the 20 overs. The English bowlers today really came back into it. The last 8 Irish wickets fell for 25 runs. I suspect that it will be Australia, India or England who win it. England look like they have more match winners than India but they need to find some form. But, as ever, Australia will be the team to beat.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Thursday 16th February 2023 - Result - St George's Park, Gqeberha - Australia won the toss and decided to field.
Sri Lanka 112-8 & Australia 113-0 = Australia Women win by 10 wickets
Defending champions Australia moved within touching distance of the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals with a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Gqeberha.
Beth Mooney hit 56 not out and Alyssa Healy added an unbeaten 54 to help the five-time winners chase down 113.
Sri Lanka had posted 112-8 with Australia's Megan Schutt taking 4-24.
Australia will reach the last four as group winners if they avoid defeat by South Africa in their final Group A match on Saturday.
Only a loss to South Africa combined with both the Proteas and Sri Lanka beating New Zealand in their final group matches, plus an improbable run-rate swing, will see Australia miss out on the semi-finals.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Friday 17th February 2023 - Results - Six Gun Grill Newlands, Cape Town.
NZ 189-3 & Bangladesh 118-8 = New Zealand Women win by 71 runs.
New Zealand kept their slim Women's T20 World Cup semi-final hopes alive with a thumping 71-run win over Bangladesh.
Opener Suzie Bates' sublime 81 not out from 61 balls propelled the White Ferns to 189-3 in Cape Town.
In reply, Bangladesh struggled to keep up with the run rate throughout as they reached 118-8.
New Zealand now need to beat Sri Lanka heavily and hope South Africa lose to Bangladesh and Australia to reach the semi-finals.
.................................................................................................................................
Ireland 137-9 & West Indies 140-4 = West Indies Women win by 6 wickets
Captain Hayley Matthews struck an unbeaten 63 to help West Indies beat Ireland with one ball to spare to keep their slim hopes of making the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals alive.
Matthews hit the penultimate ball for four as West Indies chased down their target of 138 in a thrilling finish.
Earlier, Orla Prendergast had hit 61 off 47 balls as Ireland posted 137-9.
Ireland, who looked like favourites at the halfway stage, were eliminated with the defeat in Cape Town.
West Indies must beat Pakistan by a large margin in their last game on Sunday to improve their net run-rate - and also need one of England or India to lose both of their remaining games to have any chance of qualifying in second place.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Saturday 18th February 2023 - Fixtures - St George's Park, Gqeberha.
England v India - 1pm
England's group-stage match against India at the Women's T20 World Cup is perfectly set up for a mouth-watering encounter.
While England beat India to triumph in the 2017 50-over World Cup, India have closed the gap in the past year, including beating England in the Commonwealth Games, and the winner of Saturday's clash is tough to predict, with both teams unbeaten in the tournament so far.
At stake is the chance to become favourites to top the group as both sides will be expected to win their final matches against Pakistan and Ireland respectively.
Not only does finishing first boost confidence going into knockout stages, it also makes a semi-final meeting with Australia far less likely as the reigning champions appear set to top their own group - the winner of each group facing the second-placed side from the other.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Saturday 18th February 2023 - Result - St George's Park, Gqeberha - Australia won the toss and decided to field.South Africa 124-6 (20 overs) Brits 45, Luus 20, Wolvaardt 19, Wareham 2-18. Australia 125-4 (16.3 overs) Mcgrath 57, Gardner 28no, Mooney 20, Kapp 2-21. Australia Women win by 6 wickets ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/F395/production/_128675326_gettyimages-1247264994.jpgAustralia progressed to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup as they comfortably chased down South Africa's total in Gqeberha. The hosts posted an opening partnership of 58, but stalled in the middle overs as they set a below-par target of 125. Five-time champions Australia were reduced to 40-3 in response with Marizanne Kapp picking up two wickets. But Tahlia McGrath and the unbeaten Ashleigh Gardner rebuilt to see Australia home with 21 balls to spare. Australia move into the semi-finals with a game to spare as winner of group one, and will likely face India after their defeat to England earlier in the day. South Africa will have to hope that New Zealand defeat Sri Lanka on Sunday and then beat Bangladesh on Tuesday if they are to reach the knockout stage.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Sunday 19th February 2023 Result - at the Eurolux Boland Park, Paarl - West Indies won the toss and decided to bat.West Indies 116-6 (20 overs) Williams 30, Campbelle 22, Matthews 20, Dar 2-13. Pakistan 113-5 (20 overs) Riaz 29, Dar 27, Maroof 26, Matthews 2-14. England qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals after Pakistan slipped to a nervy three-run defeat by West Indies. Chasing 117, Pakistan needed 18 from a dramatic final over but could only manage 14 to fall agonisingly short. It meant England are certain to finish in the top two in Group 2 and can guarantee top spot if they avoid defeat to Pakistan on Tuesday. Rashada Williams earlier hit 30 from 34 balls as West Indies posted 116-6. The result moved West Indies up to third and level on points with second-placed India, meaning they still have a mathematical chance of reaching the semi-finals. However, their inferior net run-rate means they need India to lose heavily against Ireland on Monday to overtake them. If India do lose then Pakistan would also have a chance of reaching the last four if they beat England on Tuesday.

Amelia Kerr hit 66 from 48 balls and Suzie Bates added 56 from 49 as New Zealand posted 162-3 in Paarl. Sri Lanka crumbled to 60 all out in reply to end their own last-four hopes. The win moves New Zealand up to second in Group 1, but South Africa will replace them and seal a semi-final spot if they beat Bangladesh on Tuesday. Whoever finishes second in Group 1 is likely to face England, who are already assured of a semi-final place and will progress as Group 2 winners if they avoid defeat in their final game against Pakistan on Tuesday. Ireland must be kicking themselves. Rain-interrupted and had they scored another 6 runs in about 8 overs they would have won. Just a fraction too slow. Their fielding was littered with dropped catches including Mandana who scored 87. I think she was dropped 3 times, two very easy chances. Ireland go out but they gave both England and India a headache at one staged the matches.

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Monday 20th February 2023 Result - Venue: St George's Park, Gqeberha - India won the toss and decided to bat.India 155-6 (20 overs) Mandhana 87, Verma 24, Delany 3-33 Ireland 54-2 (8.2 overs) Lewis 32 not out, Thakur 1-10 India Women win by 5 runs (DLS Method) as Wareham said above, a shame just too slow. India qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals with a five-run Duckworth-Lewis-Stern win over Ireland in a rain-curtailed match in Gqeberha. Ireland were 54-2 in the ninth over, chasing 156, when heavy rain forced an early end to the match. The win means India join England in qualifying from Group 2. Smriti Mandhana had earlier survived being dropped four times to hit a career-best 87 from 56 balls to help India reach 155-6. England still top the group thanks to their superior net run-rate, meaning they are almost certain to progress as group winners - and therefore avoid holders Australia in the semi-finals - barring a heavy defeat against Pakistan on Tuesday. Ireland captain Laura Delany: "[The rain delay] kind of came out of nowhere and we weren't really prepared for it. We hadn't looked at the DLS score at all, myself and Gaby [Lewis] were only looking to build a partnership and hit boundaries. "In 2018, it wasn't a level playing field. Cricket Ireland have invested hugely and we're on contracts now. We've gone from strength to strength, even if there are areas to improve on." ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/99F1/production/_128690493_gettyimages-1467934820.jpg

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Tuesday 21st February 2023 - Fixtures - at Six Gun Grill Newlands, Cape Town.ENGLAND v Pakistan - 1pm England are "still searching for the complete performance" at the Women's T20 World Cup, says Amy Jones. England play Pakistan in their final group-stage game in Cape Town on Tuesday. They have already qualified for the semi-finals but a win would ensure they finish unbeaten at the top of Group 2 and likely avoid reigning champions Australia. India, who were beaten by England, look set to go through second in the group. "We know that if we're going to win the World Cup, we'll need to beat India and Australia at some stage," said wicketkeeper Jones, who smashed an important 40 from 27 balls in the 11-run victory over India. "They're obviously an incredible side but avoiding them is not something we're thinking about." Australia have won five of the last six Women's T20 World Cups and have also finished unbeaten in the group stages. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/45B8/production/_128684871_gettyimages-1467327377.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/97DE/production/_128687883_gettyimages-1467347458.jpg................................................................................................................................................................. ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP - Tuesday 21st February 2023 - Result - at Six Gun Grill Newlands, Cape Town.ENGLAND 213-5 (20 overs) N Sciver-Brunt 81no, Wyatt 59, Jones 47, Fatima 2-44 Pakistan 99-9 (20 overs) Hassan 28, Fatima 16no, Amin 12, Extras 11, K Sciver-Brunt & Dean 2 each. England Women win by 114 runs Women's T20 World Cup: England set highest total in tournament history to crush Pakistan by 114 runs.. Nat Sciver-Brunt's sublime 81 not out from 40 balls and Danni Wyatt's 59 set up England's 213-5 in Cape Town. Sciver-Brunt and Amy Jones, who made 47, added a partnership of 100 from just 48 balls for the fourth wicket as Pakistan's bowling and fielding fell apart. In reply, Pakistan slumped to 99-9 with Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Charlie Dean taking two wickets each to ensure England finished the group stage unbeaten. In a one-sided encounter England capitalised on misfields, dropped catches and wayward bowling with a dominant performance that sends a clear message to their semi-final opponents - South Africa or New Zealand. England lost Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey and Heather Knight for single-figure scores but Wyatt, who had previously struggled for runs at the top of the order, continued to attack and reached her half-century from 29 balls in the 12th over. Nat Sciver-Brunt then followed her important half-century against India with another stunning performance, smashing 12 fours and a six in a brutal display of hitting that left Pakistan depleted. She was well supported by Jones, who was dropped first ball, as the pair expertly manipulated the field and pummelled the ball to Newlands' huge boundaries with ease. England's total beat the previous record of 195-3 set by South Africa against Thailand at the 2020 edition of the tournament. A fine bowling display then capped an extraordinary all-round performance from England as Pakistan, with no choice but to try and attack from the offset, succumbed to England's consistency and an imposing run-rate that never felt within their reach. England's place at the top of the group confirms they avoid defending champions Australia in the semi-finals, who will play India. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/4B6E/production/_128701391_gettyimages-1468248016.jpg
