I watched Elliot Anderson at Swansea back in February 2020 playing for the Newcastle u23's and he was super impressive, especially as he turned 17 just three months before. I'd say that only Liam Delap at Man City has made more of an impression on me than Anderson did and even as a non-Rovers fan, he got me on the edge of my seat during his time at the Mem. Hope he goes all the way to the top!

Has chosen to represent Scotland at international level, following serious family conversations, and with Scotland coach Steve Clarke.... personally think that's a wise choice,he will certainly get more games with the Scott's than he would have with England

Adding to the above post...Scotland call up Elliot Anderson for matches with Cyprus & England..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/13D8B/production/_130919218_gettyimages-1580073468.jpg Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson could play for Scotland against England at HampdenScotland manager Steve Clarke revealed a first call up for Elliot Anderson came after "good discussions" with the Newcastle midfielder and his family. The 20-year-old is in the squad for next month's Euro 2024 qualifier in Cyprus and a friendly with England. Born in Whitley Bay, he represented Scotland at youth level, qualifying through his grandmother. "He had a little think about choosing between Scotland and England," said Clarke. "Elliot has been through the under-age groups with Scotland, he is one we have had an eye on. "We had some good discussions with the boy and his family and he has chosen to come with us, which is good for us now and certainly good for us in the future." Anderson, used as a substitute in Newcastle's first three Premier League outings this season, briefly switched allegiances to England Under-19s in 2021, but returned for one Scotland Under-21 appearance last year before turning down further calls at that level. "We have got some great reports from people within the club at Newcastle," continued Clarke. "We've had a great start to the campaign and if you can blood players in good moments it's probably easier than doing it difficult moments. "He's chosen to stay with us and hopefully that turns out to be a good decision for Elliot and ourselves." Scotland are well placed to reach Euro 2024, sitting top of Group A with maximum points after four matches. Cyprus have opened with three defeats, including a 3-0 loss at Hampden in March. Following the match in Larnaca on 8 September, Scotland host England four days later to commemorate the first meeting between the nations in 1872. Watched by 4,000 spectators, the 0-0 draw at Hamilton Crescent, Glasgow, is officially recognised by Fifa as the first international match. "A game against England takes care of itself," said Clarke. "We want to challenge ourselves against the top nations, teams that get to the later stages of the major tournaments, but all of our focus is on Cyprus right now." Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper is missing through injury, while Celtic full-back Greg Taylor and Blackburn Rovers centre-half Dominic Hyam make way for the fit-again pair of Nathan Patterson and Scott McKenna. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/EF6B/production/_130919216_gettyimages-1610625305-1.jpgClarke said his squad was "a bit top heavy" with strikers while stressing that Liverpool teenager Ben Doak is in his thoughts. "Anybody who is doing well for their club, especially at a club like Liverpool, playing off the bench in the Premier League, they are always going to be close," he said. "I just felt that on this occasion, it was the right time to bring in Elliot. "Ben knows that we are watching him, he knows that he is part of the future, but he has to continue doing what he is doing at his club, and he has to continue playing well. If he does that, I'm sure his turn won't be too far away."

Anderson 'will be exceptional'..

Former Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin speaking to BBC Sport on players who have caught his eye: "One player I had seen a little before was young Elliot Anderson up at Newcastle. I couldn't quite make my mind up from his performances last season. Was he going to be a very good player or an exceptional one? I have now got to see him in the flesh a few times this season and the answer is clear, he will be exceptional. "He caught my eye not only because of his match intelligence and skill, but the fact that he is already keeping star signing Sandro Tonali - who cost over £60m from AC Milan - out of the team. "There was also a more personal reason for my interest. Elliot hasn't chosen between representing Scotland or England. He was in the last Scotland Squad but withdrew at the last moment with an 'injury', though he played a few days later for his club. As a Scot I obviously hope he chooses Scotland in the end, but I have no doubt England manager Gareth Southgate has been on the phone and I do not blame him."

JARELL QUANSAH has returned to Liverpool with confidence and vital experience in senior football following his loan spell last season. Asked what he took from his temporary stint away at Bristol Rovers, the 20-year-old said: "Just the want to win at all costs.
"And there's players with different experiences and how they use their bodies against yours. Just getting used to the physicality side of it really.
"It was a valuable experience that I needed. I learned so much and I can just tell from the performances I had I've got so much to learn and obviously I've sort of shown that I can hold my own as well. It was good." Centre-half Jarell, spent the second half of 2022-23 with Rovers and earned 16 appearances, all but one of which were starts. "He's returned to Liverpool with confidence and vital experience in senior football following his loan spell at Bristol Rovers, last season," says Jurgen Klopp. The 20-year-old centre-back made his fourth appearance of the season on Wednesday night as Liverpool FC beat Leicester City 3-1 in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup. His first Anfield start for Liverpool included a win and an assist. #UpTheROVERS

England boss Gareth Southgate on whether Newcastle's Elliot Anderson will choose to play for the Three Lions or Scotland:
"I haven't spoken to Elliot. [FA technical director] John McDermott deals with those things so I think we are in the same situation as [Scotland boss] Steve [Clarke].
"We respect that those decisions are big decisions and we don't want to pressure anybody. We like Elliot, we think he's a very good player with high potential and he's at a club that are absolutely flying.
"We will just have to wait and see - we are very much respectful that if he needs time to think that through we completely understand."

"It wasn't quick from our side or Elliot's," said Howe after being asked if the midfielder had been rushed back. "It was a huge frustration for him that he hasn't be able to return to training sooner. "With the type of [back] injury he had, we had to be careful, but when he eventually got back on the grass and stepped up his rehabilitation, he has felt good and looked fine. We are going to have to nurse him back and look after him because we want him to stay fit. He has been a huge miss because of his versatility, so it is great to have him back."

Elliot Anderson is moving to Nottingham Forest in a deal worth around £35million..by Sami Mokbeli.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/30/09/86747437-0-image-m-56_1719737021887.jpgSt James' Park figures have been battling to avoid a Premier League points deduction for failing to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules and they need to offload before Sunday night's accounting period deadline. Fears they would have to reluctantly sell Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were effectively allayed after a bid of around £33million from Brighton for Yankuba Minteh was accepted - and Anderson is also now poised to leave the club. A breach of PSR restrictions would likely have seen them docked 10 points. Both forwards now appear set to remain at Newcastle, however, with Minteh and Anderson to leave for substantial figures and a combined total of almost £70m. Anderson has made 55 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2021. He played 26 times last season and started in 10 of those matches but was ruled out for a lengthy period between October and March due to a back injury.
