What a read that was, the scout knows his business, he will not be a Rovers player next season it seems.
Elliot will get us up automatic IMO, a big re-build will be needed for League One just to compete there.

Bit early to be talking about him in such terms, but certainly at our level, he`s outstanding. He shields the ball so well, at the same time he`s taking it forward. Was an absolute pleasure, to watch him go about things against Colchester.

I agree with this review on Billy. He should be in the Newcastle squad for next season.
As I've previously posted, often either Coutts or Whelan get the ball, they do their sensible possession thing and pass it to Elliot or Evans.
Then things begin to get interesting for us and worrying for the opposition.
Superb.
Edit.
I'm no fan of players being able to swap their national team loyalties.
I suppose it's allowed so a young players development can progress smoothly,a la the ever so 'popular' U21 Cup Rovers play in,where only a few hundred may attend.
Got to keep our 'glorious' top division happy.
Edit II.
In its current form, the loan transfer system probably fits into this 'keep the Prem clubs happy' file too.

He shields the ball so well, at the same time he`s taking it forward. Yes. In a couple of recent matches, not only has he shielded the ball, but he's also "rebuffed" with his shoulder the opposing players, who somehow ended up on the deck! He's tough as well as skilful.

To be compared with Peter Beardsley is a wonderful compliment.
Ask Messrs Aldridge, Rush and Lineker .

Top, top scout and if he says those things you can trust them to be true. Back in the late 70s he was manager down here at Weymouth and one year we were living in Weymouth and I watched Weymouth for that season most home games. He was an old fashioned full back, tough as nails. Weymouth were then in top non league division and one of the best non league sides before automatic promotion. Carr has discovered lots of players I think and is very well respected and his word will be listened to. Looks like we are fortunate to be enjoying Elliot in our team, even if it’s only for this season. I hope we take full advantage. UTG!

Yes, Agree the father of comedian Alan Carr really does know his stuff, he has been integral in signing Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux, Papiss Cissé and Cheick Tioté. Played as a half-back all through the 1960's, has played & managed Northampton Town, Weymouth & Dartford. www.bing.com/th?id=AMMS_6a809db242425a96103f2a69143dbb1d&w=236&h=183&c=12&rs=1&o=5&pid=3.1&rm=2

Hopefully he will go back to geordie land full of praise for us and a better player and we could land a another prospect.
I'm finding premiership player comments for someone playing L2 level a bit silly.
Billy is on radio Bristol tmrw night, sometime between 6pm and 7pm, could be an interesting listen.

Then Lord only knows what you make of 'our Joey' evoking the greatest player of all time when discussing Anderson. This on the back of performances against Colchester and Northampton. It is more than a little bit silly isn't it? Wiser souls will think back to the likes of Freddie Adu and even Marvin Brown. I'd like to see the club doing its talking on the pitch and for Joey to stop gobbing off to the press at each and every opportunity.

If teams want to stick 2 men on Billy and free up our other midfielders I will be pretty happy.

Not sure if you go to games but I believe that the club is doing its talking on the pitch. In my opinion they are playing the best possession football played by a Rovers side for 20 years.

You know your football, that's clear enough rideintothesun,so you know full well JB is not putting Elliot in the world class bracket. Joe studies world class players and coaches, commonsense for a man in his job. He occasionally mentions what he's been checking out and if possible he likes to experiment at the Quarters with what he's learnt from a master of the game. This 4th tier season and more than once,i've seen a certain attacking pass and move ,but this particular tactic I have never seen at Rovers before.I've seen top FCs use it on the gogglebox before aplenty, but not Rovers. Some of the football played this season has been above our 4th tier level.Thoroughly enjoyable. I said to a City fan mate just today,i would'nt be at all surprised if next season (3rd tier 🤞) we loan sign one or two decent players, from Newcastle United. Edit. Elliot can become a top division player and a Scottish or English international.I think he is the best player in the 4th tier.He is very good and may play a part in Newcastle Uniteds rise.

Elliot will now be available to play for Rovers at Carlisle United.👍 Very tough game. Three players called up for u21 duty (Hoole, Connelly & Anderson). None have gone, they are all staying with us. It’s like I don’t recognise this club as Bristol Rovers anymore 😃 Well done to all 3

Newcastle United’s confirmed line-up v Liverpool: Shock as player makes first Premier League start..Was looking forward to seeing EA play v Liverpool.Elliot Anderson makes his first Premier League start for Newcastle United against Liverpool (kick-off 5:30pm). In Joe Willock’s absence, Magpies head coach Eddie Howe has decided to stick with a three-man midfield and bring Anderson in alongside Joelinton and Sean Longstaff. Many had expected £45million January signing Anthony Gordon to make his full debut, however that would have likely required a change in formation, as witnessed during the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth last weekend. Gordon played as a second striker behind Alexander Isak, with Longstaff and Joelinton as the two midfielders. But for the visit of Liverpool, Howe has not deviated from the system that has served United brilliantly so far this season. The introduction of Anderson is United’s only change from the trip to the Vitality Stadium. Alexander Isak retains his spot, despite Callum Wilson returning to the matchday squad after recovering from a minor hamstring issue. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Nick Pope’s red card against Liverpool forced Eddie Howe to make an early change on Saturday night, and it meant Elliot Anderson‘s first Premier League start had to end prematurely. The 20-year-old was named in the starting XI in the top flight for the first time ever, coming in for the injured Joe Willock. It was a huge show of faith from Howe, who was able to stick with his 4-3-3 formation by selecting Anderson. The youngster has impressed off the bench at times this season, and will have been desperate to make his first ever start. However, it turned out to be a disaster. He was forced off after just 24 minutes, with Newcastle needing to bring on a new goalkeeper after Pope’s moment of madness. Martin Dubravka got himself ready, and Howe decided that Anderson was the man he would replace. Now the Toon boss has explained why the academy graduate was the one to make way. Tactical reason why Eddie Howe took off Elliot AndersonHowe has spoke to the Chronicle about his decision to take Anderson off midway through the first half against Liverpool. “It was a huge disappointment for him [Anderson] and for me to have to take him off because it was the last thing I wanted to do,” Howe said. “I just felt we needed a transitional threat in the game. “The counter-attack was going to be hugely important to us, so we reshuffled and went with two forward players, but those two forward players needed extreme pace, I felt, so, unfortunately, Elliot was the one to come off, but it was nothing against what he did in that time on the pitch.” Howe’s decision made sense With Howe eager to go two up top, it made sense to take Anderson off. It allowed Allan Saint-Maximin to join Alexander Isak in attack, and they both did a brilliant job of stretching the Liverpool defence. We saw Howe do the same last season when Ciaran Clark was sent off against Norwich. That was when Joelinton’s midfielder renaissance began. It came about because the Newcastle manager wanted to be a threat on the counter, which is a testament to his desire to win games. At 2-0 down, Howe easily could have set up in a 4-4-1 and accepted defeat. But he went for it, and his tactical shift allowed Newcastle to create a lot of chances. However, they were not converted. It was disappointing for Anderson’s first Premier League start to end so suddenly, but Howe has explained his reasoning and it makes complete sense. As for the midfielder, his message on Instagram shows that he understood the decision too. Hopefully there will be more opportunities on the horizon for Anderson, as there is no doubt that he is going to become a star in black and white. A shame that he had to be sacrificed when Pope got sent off. Hopefully not too long before he gets another start.
