With the way the ball is swinging, wouldn't it be great if we had the greatest ever England bowler playing, who is pretty good at swing bowling. Where is Jimmy Anderson.

What is up with these batters of ours, Crawley 7 from 36 balls, Lawrence 8 from 37 balls, Stokes 2 from 17, Foakes 7 from 17, even Lees 31 from 97 balls.
Are the West Indies bowlers really that good to be pinning our batters right down, they might as well play 20/20 style, nothing to lose IMO.
I can forgive Root getting 0 as he has dug us out of the mire many times consistently.
110-8 (48 overs)

I'm going to stick my neck out and say it's unlikely to be a draw.

It's a good job 8, 9, 10 & 11 can bat, from 53-6 to 67-7, 90-8, 114-9 to 141-9 now (69 overs), Leach 25no, Mahmood 12no.
(England's 10th wicket record stand is 198, Joe Root & James Anderson v India 2014)

146-9 (70 overs), can we bat the 20 overs left to see the day out, they have made it slightly more respectable

Wow. The only other time numbers 10 & 11 top scored in an innings was in 1885! What an effort by Leach and Mahmood.

Well done Saqib Mahmoud and Jack Leach and Woakes and Overton to a lesser extent. They salvaged some pride for us. We’ll see how the West Indies bat tomorrow it will either show how bad our top half was or how good our bottom half were.

Close of play - 3rd Test - Day 1
England 204 all out (89.4 overs) Lees 31, Woakes 25, Mahmood 49, Leach 41no, Seales 3 wickets, Roach, Mayers & Joseph all 2 each.
Well done to numbers 8, 9, 10 & 11 to drag our pitiful 53-6 to a respectable 204 all out, a big up to Mahmood 49 & hit the only 6 of the innings.

Blimey, we’ve had a whole session of England bowling and Jack Leach hasn’t been called for! West Indies 71-3 at lunch after 25 overs. Next two wickets vital. Get Bonner and Blackwood and it opens out.

96 -6 now...... Woakes finally gets it right and reaps the reward.... from dull dull dull in the first two tests to wizz bang and wallop here... cricket what don't ya love about it!!!
24 hours ago England were 85-7 ..... that 90 looks possibly a match winning partnership, unless the W indies have something in their tail to get on a par ... otherwise it's squeaky bum time!!!

Latest - West Indies 177-8 (69 overs), Campbell 35, Mayers 28, Da Silva 23no, Joseph 28, Woakes 3 wickets, Overton & Stokes 2 each.
Looks like our total was not that bad after all.
England lead by 28 runs.
