There is a trend recently to say that the negativity of the fans is playing a part in our downfall.
Several comments and statements from board members asking for positivity have hinted at this and, although perhaps not intentionally, have deflected some attention towards the fans.
I agree that Bristol Rovers fans these days can be extremely quick to get on the back of their own players. This frustration however is a result of 13 years of awful performances and relegation battles, aside from a two year Rickie Lambert inspired period. Let's not forget that we have been relegated three times over these years and have been very close on at least five other occasions.
The thing that I haven't seen mention however is that our home form is pretty good. Our home form, before Darrell Clarke took over at least, last season was exceptional and I believe it was around 5th best in the division. Our only point so far this season is at home despite having played less home games.
I imagine that most would agree that away support is typically more positive and you tend to get a bunch of the super committed fans that back the team always, no matter what.
So, with all of this in mind, how can any of our poor performance possibly be down to negativity when it is mainly our away form that is so awful? Does this dispel the myth of players being too scared to play? I would have thought the most likely place to freeze would be at home in front of larger crowds than perhaps some of the players are used to?

The team being p*ss poor and the club being run like a local vegetable stall is what is the cause of the problem, not the fans.

Look at the atmosphere we created at Pompey !! We still lost. Its down to how good the team is at the end of the day.

No - the fans backed a team last year that had no passion & no care in the world that we were relegated. They gave up when we lost at home to Torquay, and the fans backed the team right up until the home game v Mansfield. The support at Portsmouth & Wycombe was remarkable given that it was clear to most that relegation was indeed an option!
The performances put in away from home also suggest that it makes no difference that the "super" fans are cheering the team on!
For me, all it shows it that we have a squad of weak minded players, who if they can't cope with the "excitement" of playing in front of 7,000 fans, should be shipped out asap! The squad lacks characters - I've not heard that the experience of Mansell & the bloke from Hartlepool has dragged the youngsters up a level! Looking forward to my first defeat of the season at FGR!
I do think that the fans have lost that expectation of going to watch a home win, and perhaps there is a negative feeling from the first minute! I've never gone on to a sports pitch or watched a game expecting to lose!

That is what the board think. The support this club get is fantastic considering the s**t we have to put up with.

Q -Are the fans at fault? A - No
simple question. simple answer.
the fans can NEVER be at fault for what happens on a pitch, played by professional footballers.
they may no massively help, but they can NOT be blamed.
If a professional roofer messes your roof up because some bloke over the road shouted at him would that be an adequate excuse?

Rovers fans have been fantastic over the last year. Which is a stark contrast to the days of Buckle and McGhee when the fans turned against the players and manager and the atmopshere was poisonous.
So I dont think you can blame the fans this time round - the support at the Grimsby and Barnet games has been incredibly posiitve given the performances on the pitch

Can't you see you were asking for it?
Walking around, quite brazenly with your blue and white quarters on. Following the team. Turning up every week to watch. Shouting encouragement. Talking about the team on social media. Talking to the team. Watching the news for a glimpse of your heroes.
You dirty Gas, you were asking for it, it's all your fault and you made me do it.
Following the Rovers is like being in an abusive relationship.
