Hi, Thought you might be interested in the forthcoming book on Tony Pulis, His 40 years In Football. It's called "Triffic!" and details of its pre-release are available here: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/triffic-the-book-tony-pulis-40-years-in-football/ It talks about the 10 years that Tony Pulis was at Rovers, and how he continued to work with Rovers colleagues throughout his career! Pre-release copies and signed copies etc can be ordered on that link. It is amazing how many Rovers people have been involved in his career, and how they have shaped and influenced him. [PS Some might remember me from the old Forums - I seem to have drifted off this one]

I remember watching him play in the Quarters at Eastville, along with the likes of Phil Bater and Peter Aitken .
The phrase 'they shall not pass' springs to mind.

'Iron man' was his nickname at Eastville.

I reckon this is worth a tenner. (I'd also be interested to read what he says about his time 'on the dark side' of Bristol)

Well, I was on the training ground looking over my team for the new season. We were in the premier league again, after I saved Crystal Palace from relegation. (See chapter 23, How I saved Crystal Palace from Relegation.) Suddenly there was a phone call. It was my old mate from Bristol Rovers, Ian Holloway (see chapter 22), who was now manager of Millwall. Ollie, as I like to call him, had phoned me up, and I answered the phone call. 'Hello,' I said. 'Hello,' the person on the other end of the phone call said. 'It's Ian Holloway. your old mate from Bristol Rovers.' 'Hello,' I said. 'Listen,' said Ollie, 'our old team Bristol Rovers are in trouble. How about we start a consortium to save it?' 'But,' I said, 'I thought you said you would never go back there as long as our old chairman was there (see chapter 13). 'Don't worry,' said Ian, 'I've got that covered. Just then, Yannick Bolasie, Yannick, as I like to call him. Got a pass from the back, and mis-controlled it. 'That was crap, Bolasie,' I said. You need to control it better than that if we are to avoid relegation from the Premier league like I did last year (see chapter 23). 'Sorry, Ian,' I said, 'not you, you're not crap, I was talking to Bolasie, or Yannick, as I like to call him.' 'Anyway,' said Ian, 'do you want to join the consortium? Gerry's (see chapters, 9,10,11,12,14,16,17,20) in!' 'What about our jobs?' I said. 'Don't worry,' said Ian (or Ollie) 'we can resign.'
The next day, I resigned. I made up some crappy excuse about it being about transfers. It caused a bit of a stir on match of the Day, I can tell you. The chairman didn't know what was going on. The next day I phoned Ollie (or Ian, as I like to call him). 'Ollie,' I said, 'I've resigned. Now we can have a consortium and save Bristol Rovers.'
'f that,' said Ollie, 'we've just won our first two games of the season.'

I reckon this is worth a tenner. (I'd also be interested to read what he says about his time 'on the dark side' of Bristol) Not long after he left the City he said in an interview that he would find himself picking up the evening post and taking more interest in what was happening at Rovers than at the gate. Top man

[PS Some might remember me from the old Forums - I seem to have drifted off this one] all power to your elbow, or who ever is producing this, but as a small publisher myself I fail to see why crowdfunding is needed, and I think you/they need to be clearer how involved TP is in this. It isn't clear who is 'signing' any of this (except the card). I think it is fair to assume TP is not signing these. You need to be VERY clear. You will be amazed at how people sometimes expect a lot for very little (e.g. TP signing a book for only a £10 pledge). I do like the pledges though. quite clever. TP played 300+ games and has managed for 20+ years (6 years in the Prem) and is very high profile in the news (especially now). If this was an authorised biog of his it could sell bucketloads.

Thanks for all the fantastic feedback. Yes, I am the author (not the agent!). I have produced 4 football books before this one, and have self-published 3 (which have all sold out) and had one published by Pitch Publishing. This is the first time I've used anything like CrowdFunder, so I'm interested to see how it goes. (Hope you enjoy the levels we put in!)
I'm afraid it's just me signing the book, but I have conducted hundreds of interviews, mainly with Tony, to produce this book. I think you'll be entertained and intrigued by the Rovers stuff, as well as his episode at "the dark side". There is even a section on Tony's Rovers-Gang, that seem to follow him everywhere.
Enjoy!
