Manchester United have sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Watford.
The club have won just one of their past seven Premier League matches and are seventh in the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
First-team coach Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge while United seek an interim manager to the end of the season.
"It is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision," United said.

I'm surprised it's ended this way. I always thought he was an incredibly sensible choice for the job.

Darren Fletcher will stay on as technical director, while Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna - who were part of Solskjaer's coaching set up - will also remain at the club for the time being.
Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, currently out of work, is an early favourite with bookmakers to become United's next manager.
Solskjaer leaves United with a win percentage of 54.2% from 168 games across all competitions.
United spent more than £110m in the summer, bringing in Jadon Sancho (£73m), Raphael Varane (£34m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.85m) - investment that followed fan protests against the Glazer family ownership towards the end of last season.
During Solskjaer's reign, United have spent more than £400m on transfer fees - and those signings include captain Harry Maguire from Leicester for £80m, Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50m, Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon for £47m, and Donny van de Beek from Ajax for £39m.
But the manner of Saturday's reverse at Vicarage Road made it clear something significant had to change and Solskjaer has paid the price.

I'm surprised it's ended this way. I always thought he was an incredibly sensible choice for the job. I feel a bit sorry for him. He helped heal the wounds after the disastrous Moaninho appointment, and united the fans. He got them to 2nd in the premiersh*t last season. But ultimately out of his depth. Nice chap, I wish him well.

And into a club like this, still an unsettled club at the time, not enough experience, too big and too much sentiment toward the guy , get some more " pressure years" behind him and he may become what MU think he could have been

Mauricio Pochettino says he is "so happy" at Paris St-Germain and will not be distracted by reports he is open to taking over at Manchester United.
United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday and said they are looking to appoint an interim manager before hiring a permanent boss next summer.
Argentine Pochettino, who managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, is highly regarded at Old Trafford.
"The rumours are there, but that kind of thing cannot distract me," he said.
"I am so happy at Paris St-Germain."
United have contacted former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde over the role of interim manager, with the club feeling recruiting Pochettino immediately may not be as straightforward as has been reported.
After Pochettino, 49, took charge of PSG in January, they finished second in Ligue 1 and were beaten in the Champions League semi-finals by Manchester City.
However, they also won the French Cup and the Trophee des Champions, which was the first trophy of Pochettino's managerial career.

Nice chap, I wish him well. Agree completely. When he took over from Mourinho he was in a win win situation he came in helped create a different atmosphere and let the players talents win games but he was never a tactical match for PepG, Klopp, Tuchel and under him Man U would never win the league. They would do well against most teams but when they came up against the top sides they would be seen off. Good luck to him.

Since the mighty F left, the permanent managers' stats at Man.U were:
Moyes - 51 games - 52.94 % win rate - 1 community shield
Van Gaal - 103 games - 52.43 - 1 fa cup
Mourinho - 144 games - 58.33 - 1 europa league, 1 league cup & 1 community shield
Solskjaer - 168 games - 54.17 - nothing
As the longest serving manager of that bunch his time at the helm was quite simply not good enough.
Plus for a very long time without fans at games, he had a lot of extended bonus time too.
