We have played Newport 67 times, Winning and losing 25 times and 17 draws - We have won 5-3, 4-0, 4-1 and losing 4-1 x 3, 4-3 & lots of 0-0, 1-1 & 2-2's.
The last 2 meetings have been won away 1-4 and lost at home 1-4, Joe Day, Ed Upson & James Clarke are ex-Rovers players in their current squad.
Previous manager and ex-Tottenham player Justin Edinburgh lost his life at the age of 49.
After leaving long time Somerton Park, Newport have played at Rodney Parade since 2012.

The only time I have ever done hospitality at Rovers was the 1-4 home defeat to Newport when Tom Parkes scored a blinding own goal, and then laid on an assist for another Newport goal. I'm pretty sure he was culpable for another. Bodin scored a blinder, but was embarrassed to receive the MOTM award. My son was nearly thrown out for abusive language/behaviour. It all ended up OK vs the Daggers though. I miss that Club. I miss those times.

Those were the days when the people running the club and the united fan base genuinely cared for the club win draw or lose, unlike now when the only thing the owner cares about is criticism of him on social media.

The current manager has just given his garbled thoughts on tomorrow's game. Short of saying Pitman is the best striker in the division, he has lined up the next handy excuse if we lose...us. Apparently we can be the twelfth man (yawn), but need to understand what the team are trying to do.
Barton out.

Good pre game chat from Joe.I think it exciting to slowly see improvement and I think we'll be amongst the challengers before long.
Come on Rovers!

Pre match comments on us playing the ball out because that's what we like to do....and then alluding to the tension that policy creates in the crowd....it's because, JAB I genuinely don't think we are good enough to execute it effectively 100% of the time!?
Poor path of comments from JAB because we look nervous playing this and it transmits to the crowd.
I see this the easiest of tough matches in last 7 games.....if we start like Colchester, end like Bradford, I agree Pitman can be the most prolific striker since JCH. Nice comments from JAB. But unfortunately, I feel it's like russian roulette with his impending injury....will he go sick over Xmas?
We need to sharpen everyone up goalscoring-wise.
I'll plump for: A home win by one goal. 3-2. 7000. ....a few from over the bridge without tickets looking for a dance or two. Massive police presence. Early start on the cider.
A nice dry day and hopefully 3 points with a great severnside atmosphere.... COME ON YOU BLUES!

The future Mrs Hackett and myself are off to Cardiff for Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott this evening, and don’t fancy rushing over later, so missing today.
Barton will go when Wael has had enough, and nothing we say or type will make a blind bit of difference.

This is becoming a habit. 😁 Have fun my friend and blow a kiss at Jacqui from me. Barton out.

But what makes you think it’s an easier fixture. A few months ago when they reached the final they had a lot of strength and goal scoring power, it’s when we have come up against sides like that this season, those likely to be in top seven come the end, it has shown up exactly where we are in this league isn’t it?

Removing Barton is not a silver bullet. But it is obviously the single biggest thing that would potentially get my support back. Anyway, off to Brentwood Town vs Basildon.

I’m pretty sure we didn’t start 4 4 2 against crappy Colchester, what makes aunty think we are today. then again 3 4 3 that seemed to go okay midweek might be all wrong against Newport. Is Anderson a right back

It’s noticeable premier league sides, though they have far better technical defenders and keeper, play lot less Garner ball at the back this season. A few top sides came a cropper with that last season, Liverpool, Arsenal. Arsenal kick it long this year.
