He doesn't explicitly thank us, but it appears we might have got what we wanted. No Premier League B teams in EFL - Rick Parry
"I just don't see it and, irrespective of my view, it is absolutely not something that our clubs have any enthusiasm for," added Parry, the former Liverpool chief executive. "The strength of the EFL is that every one of our clubs sits at the heart of the community. Our clubs put almost as much emphasis on the community as they do on the first team and what happens on the pitch. "This isn't about B teams suddenly parachuting in because you cannot possibly replicate that. It's just misunderstanding what the pyramid is."

Good news, but clubs and fans must continue to be alert.Watch em. I wonder how much h respect Newcastle United owner has for our pyramid system or knowledge of it? Absolutely correct. I suspect the PL clubs will take a long view of this. The EFL may have seen them off this time but they’ll be back with another and slightly different attempt at gaining entry. It may be in 5 or 10 years time but it will come and that’s why we need to be alert. Not linked but now Rangers B and Celtic B have gained places in the Scottish Lowland League which gains entry into the Scottish League system and could be seen as a model to copy. As to the Newcastle takeover, well SA and their Crown Prince won’t worry about a few mouthy opposing fans or even other PL clubs when we’ve seen what he’s involved in, according to American and European intelligence sources! Our pyramid system and the good health of the EFL won’t even be on their first 20 pages. UTG!

Newcastle fans would prefer to turn a blind eye towards rejecting an ownership group that conducts torture and oppression than have their team play Championship football. Nice.

Under the premier leagues interpretation of " fit and proper" test to prospective club owners Al Capone, Benito Mussolini and Kim Jong-un would all have been cleared to own Newcastle

The dude spent most of his life criticizing the Saudi regime in general, and King Salman and Crown Prince Salman in particular. He then wandered into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, ( having previously made an appointment to let them know he was coming ). Nobody deserves the grisly fate that befell him, obvs. But, Jesus, if anybody ever deserved a Darwin award, it`s surely Jamal Khassoggi.

Incredibly naive Alf, if you have read his various notes, twitter feeds and much much more then I’m sure you would see it very differently. I think your post is both naive and unnecessarily cruel

Sadly yes. Let's protest about conditions in the UK, where 46% of Southgate's players have been non-white, that's from a population that's 86% white, and literally nobody cares as we all want the most talented people selected for the job and couldn't give a flying frig about skin colour, and then let's support them going to a tournament in a country that genuinely has an oppressive regime. It's beyond parody I'm afraid.

Although there are signs this madness is changing.

More power to his elbow, and those of his ilk. However, having done so, I think he was unwise to the nth degree, to then make a prior appointment to set foot in a Saudi Arabian consulate. The Saudis promptly proved the veracity of his accusations, by hacking him to death. I think most people would have seen that one coming. I humbly submit that it was Mr Khassoggi who was naive.

If the rest of the world had taken the same attitude towards apartheid South Africa, that Southgate and his merry men are taking towards Qatar, then apartheid South Africa might well still be going today.

He did see it coming but, as i said, read up on the whole past narrative and have the word martyr in mind, as for problem ? I have plenty, where would you like to start ?

Well this thread has taken an unexpected turn. CW, it's a small step from Prem B teams in the football league, to despots and tyranny. Little known fact that Pol Pot came to power shortly after the Cambodian FA announced plans for a similar structure. Maybe.
