I have to fork out £2.50 to listen to my football team (72 years man & boy) play. Thank fk I am not hoping that they lose. #UpTheRoversNever want us to lose mate, just wish we had a manager who wasn't such a turd. UTG 39 managers (including caretaker managers) in my supporting lifetime. I'm sure there was a turd or two. They come and go and most are soon forgotten, turd or not. #UTG

Match Report on the BBC:
Bristol Rovers scored two late goals to claim a first away win in nine months as they came from behind to win at Walsall.
Kieran Phillips gave the Saddlers a half-time lead but Connor Taylor and substitute Sion Spence poked home from corners for Joey B*****'s Rovers.
Rovers went close to an early lead when Harry Anderson's shot was brilliantly tipped wide by Walsall goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
The Saddlers' first threat was Phillips' cross for Brendan Kiernan, who side-footed over first time from 10 yards under pressure.
But the same combination broke the deadlock on 32 minutes in when Kiernan slid in Phillips to cut inside a defender and side-foot past Rovers keeper James Belshaw.
Walsall wasted chances to seal the points when Phillips and George Miller were both denied by Belshaw one on one.
They were made to pay on 79 minutes when Junior Brown's near-post corner was flicked on for Taylor to stab home.
Spence turned home from three yards a minute into stoppage time before Ash Taylor blazed wide with a great chance to rescue a point for the Saddlers.
Attendance: 5,434
Possession: 36% - 64%
Shots: 12 - 13
On Target: 2 - 3
Corners: 0 - 10
Fouls: 15 - 7

Delighted with the win, gutted it gives the manager a lifeline. What? 👿 Two home games to follow up the away win, win both not impossible to be sitting top 7! And that’s a zillion miles from any sacking. Win next two home games and it’s closer to promotion and bronze bust in the pantheon than a sacking. The pre season punditry, the paucity of opposition, the position in the table after a couple of wins, the depth of our squad this winter compared to everyone else, the difficulty to sack someone you backed so much to rebuild squad, it’s all against this false idea a managers job is hanging by a thread, isn’t it?

To be clear, my desire to see him gone has nothing to do with his managerial prowess ( ) and everything to do with personal values and integrity. If he gets us to the Champions League final, I'll be 100% behind and cheering the team while still demanding he's sacked.

Swindon v Rovers is a derby. Not as local as some derbies, like eg Chester v Chesterfield ,but still a derby. I agree. The media will call it West Country derby, and ramp it. Have to say in advance, this one has potential for taking it too far, between the sets of fans going and coming, between the managers and their players. B***** quite clearly poured Rovers relegation all over Garner, though I don’t think Garner threatened B***** with a day in court for it, was that just Tisdale? A few weeks ago I marked it down as a Rovers win because I don’t belief after their summer Swindon will be ready for the aggression and passion they will face. In fact, for a Rovers side who can gel and get it together, this league is wide open, a lot of the more realistic challengers, like Bradford have started slowly too, Salford even behind us. And from that sequence of matches I chose some weeks back for analysis of points gained from those available, add the win against Swindon too it, and it’s beginning to look like a quite credible amount of points for Rovers from the block of fixtures isn’t it. But one thing we will need to do superbus is keep the passion or any sense of revenge out of our play. The last thing we want to do is get a player sent off after 25 minutes. We need to treat it like any football match, forget about their manager and play the game, not the occasion. UTG!

Just to remind you again, like high noon in doubting Thomas Town, today EMPEROR SUPERBUS WAS RIGHT
Well. If you want to trawl through endless words about politics in social club committees, a line by line analysis on Dwayne Sports statement of accounts, or the ins and outs of Joey’s court briefs and what legalise for ‘uncontested charge’ really means, the football threads of this blog are the place to come. But apart from me, and Phil on occasion, it’s pretty slim on any insightful and balanced football analysis, isn’t it?
Probably no surprise my favourite football journalism of the week is Cascarino’s articles for The Times.
And when it comes to B*****, I don’t post anything as Devil’s Advocate. Not trying to be amusing. Nor wishing to be loved. Not even to be the tribes leader (picture me as Peter Bergman to John Koenig). I’m just trying to be fair, balanced and insightful in analysing what is actually going on. Slow start, performances not much to write about, but add a bit of momentum now, like win the next two, and our position in the table won’t be too bad at all. That’s fair enough isn’t it?
I would add I don’t think B***** is that inspired a manager, it’s hard to see any sense of effective team style, he seems slow reacting at times to why a match and plan isn’t working. But, the squad he’s put together here has more than enough about it, experience and depth to end up top seven in this league this season, almost in spite of B*****’s lack of nous pushing it on further, as the player familiarity playing together at this club settles down to seasons white heat and run in.
So not much articulate analysis of what B***** is actually doing wrong abound on these threads, is it fair to say, perhaps why so many of you failed to realise B***** wasn’t under pressure or going to be prematurely sacked like last years Garner mistake. Yet blogs music section is worth keeping an eye on, I am learning so much there. As is my own favourite thread in the politics section, dissecting ‘wokism’ from human dna on through psychology, philosophy and culture, which actually needs more of you to contribute answers to, because so many of you have something to contribute there don’t you?
PS Who was Dwayne by the way?

I totally agree that’s what B***** needs to be saying to his players, our fans need to keep ourselves out the black maria too. So it’s going to be fascinating, and perhaps even a sea change day for Rovers, Wael and B*****.

Astonishing support today for any team 3rd from bottom of L2.
I was tense and nervous all game.
The fans literally sucked the ball in.
Players have been called thugs online tonight. Good.
It's about time we won horribly.
Haven't felt like that at a game since D&R 2016.

I saw a city fan tonight who said Ashton gate erupted when Walsall took the lead. They spent the second half singing the Gas are going down.
I may want B***** out, but it’s still my Rovers and that lot can do one

Swindon Town is not a derby!
Agreed, it is a huge game for us. A win would kick start our season.
Plymouth is a West Country derby, Swindon isn’t? The away end will be full and boisterous, our fans and players will be waiting to give em some. A visit from Grimsby this ain’t! Plymouth is not a derby either. There is only one derby and that has not been contested for far too long.

It's about time we won horribly. Haven't felt like that at a game since D&R 2016. Totally agree, the support was amazing. I was prepared to be underwhelmed and disappointed and when Walsall scored after we had been so dominant I thought 'Here we go again'. The players didn't let their chins drop and really went for it 2nd half. I got caught up in the emotion and was singing, bouncing and yelling like I used to do as a teenager. I don't think our players were thuggish, that's just Walsall sour grapes. I couldn't believe it when the ref only booked their player who slid through studs-up and took our player, I couldn't see who it was, out. It was similar to that disgraceful foul that crippled Nicholson the other week. It seems you can get away with that behaviour in L2. What was noticeable was the number of their fans who deserted the ground when we scored our second. Their end and the side stands were virtually empty come the final whistle. After celebrating with the players at full time for several minutes we got to the station just before the Birmingham train pulled in. There were lots of Walsall fans on the opposite platform waiting for the train into town. They were giving it large across the tracks calling us all w****rs etc in their funny accents. I shouted across "What are you doing waiting here for a train? You left that early you could have walked home by now" even the Police laughed at that one. Id forgotten how good an away win feels.

All in all a bit disappointing. I think we were about 10 minutes away from getting shot of our rather unpleasant manager. Oh well, let's hope Swindon can help him on his way. Walsall handed it to them really. They started sprightly and looked the more likely to score, and when they did they cheekily invited us to come at them, naturally assuming that we posed no danger whatsoever up front by threading passes to a half-injured veteran to chase. Pitman was frustrated at the service he was getting and must have had a word because he suddenly reverted from watching lost causes pass him by to positioning himself in the box to provide knock-downs and flick-ons. The first goal spurred us on and sheer momentum gave us the second.

More so than Plymouth and Exeter.

Good Gawd how we needed that, before the game yesterday, was the lowest I can ever remember feeling being a gashead for over 50 years. Seeing over 1000 of our wonderful fans who kept the faith finally rewarded. Well done the players who hopefully now get what's required from them and what they will get from back from the fans. El Presidente and Joey B enjoy a well earned respite as Monday it's back to work to do it all again.
Phew UTG

Kilgour and Taylor at fault Not really. The Walsall goal came about because Glenn Whelan and Paul Coutts were alongside each other when a Walsall midfielder played the ball over them and onto a team-mate (whom either Coutts or Whelan should have been marking), giving Walsall an overload. (One mistake. Otherwise, both veterans played with a swagger). Alfie was caught between going to the man on the ball (trying to hold him up) or sticking with his man, free on the left. Correctly, he went to the immediate threat, but couldn't prevent the ball being slipped outside him to the eventual scorer. Connor Taylor then had to leave his man and go to the one with the ball. Expertly, he showed him outside, driving him to a narrow angle. Maybe he should have just jockeyed at that point and blocked any shot that might have come in. Unfortunately, he made a stab for the ball, which only succeeded in creating a rebound which opened up the angle for Phillips to score. My Man of the Match was Cian Harries. He mixed some resolute old-fashioned defending with lots of promising passes, many down the line to Harvey Saunders.

Apparently that was the 13th away game with Punchy in charge, and the first away win.
Surely when Wael realises that he'll put an end to this latest failed appointment?
