David has been big enough to take on the job, and his first missive has been pretty well received from what I've seen
And I'm sure we all wish him well in the role - I think most people will think it's unlikely to be what the Americans might call a 'cake walk'
These forums are full of piecemeal advice for him. Some of it is self-serving rubbish, or just a vehicle for criticising his predecessors. I hope he's enough of his own man to sort the wheat from the chaff there
What constructive thoughts, or actions, can you offer to help?

Be honest and ask those around you and above you to be the same.

Speak to John Malyckyj.
He's already been on the journey you are setting off on.

Be your own man - you sound a decent sort, so follow your instincts.

Engage constructively with your critics as well as your members.
As I discovered from working with John M and Kim Stuckey prior to 2006, we have far more things that bind us than divides us.
Oh, and never let Ken Masters anywhere near the organisation again.

Lobby the club for 8am kickoffs so those gasheads in opposite timezones can actually watch a match at a comfortable time.

Oh, and never let Ken Masters anywhere near the organisation again. Absolutely spot on with the first line. I remember going to a business seminar which had Gordon Ramsay as the guest speaker. He said what made him better as a person, chef and businessman was criticism, he welcomed feedback from his fellow chefs and customers. No organisation or one individual is perfect and there is always room for improvement. If you ignore that then you will fail because there is always a channelled perspective. Like him or loathe him, his standards are high and he’s mastered his craft in the kitchen and in business.

Perhaps you could donate some of your wifes recipes…??

The whole affair with the Supporters Club has been very introspective. It would be useful to investigate the way in which supporter's organisations work at other clubs, particularly to get ideas on some of those key aspects of modernising, communications, effective raising of funds and engaging younger fan base.
Plenty of clubs' fan organisations also get things wrong, but there are a number that BRSC can learn from and it is not too difficult to trawl the internet to find out what other supporters clubs are doing.
I'd also suggest that there should be a constructive dialogue between SC and FC on what the FC can effectively bring in-house and what should be left to the SC and its volunteers to do. Programme sales, 50/50 tickets, away travel being examples, but I am sure that there are others.
It is difficult to wipe the slate clean, but there is a chance for a new start.
