Couldn't agree with you more, the worst manager in the history of Rovers, only won 5 league games and 2 of those were against 10 men. One thing is interesting in the statement, Garner infers he was Wael's appointment. Has Wael posted anywhere on social media welcome Paul Tisdale to the club, if so I haven't seen it.

Wouldn't have thought he wanted to stay and by the sounds of it he was an outsider last night. It must be down to affording his pay off, got to say he has been invisible since he joined the club. I bet he wished he could have got on the Chelsea bus last night and gone back to his old job.

I thought both interviews with Starnes and Widdrington carried the same message, don't apply the job is already Widdrington's. Anybody that comes in if Widdrington fails over the next 5 games in charge would be alone with his hands tied behind his back having to work under a failed caretaker. As for Starnes's appearance yesterday, he looked as if he had slept rough in his car overnight and had just been dragged out to do the interview. He might think we as fans are a bunch of dicks but at least show some respect for the club you represent by looking the part of CEO.

I couldn't agree with you more, the Bristol Post were the worst at hyping up Garner, Premier League credentials, fantastic contacts in the game, highly regarded at his previous clubs, needs time, it will come etc, etc. Somebody made this sugary appointment and it wasn't the Board, that doesn't exist, you get the impression they were taken off guard by the call from the Fuhrer's Amman Bunker on Saturday evening. Will Pulis take Garner to Sheffield Wednesday as one of his coaches, will Warnock invite him to join him at Middlesborough in the same capacity.

They finally got him, as this highly rated coach, well thought of, they saw a chance to give someone time to bed in his ideals. I never believed this spin. And I never believed in Ben Garner. Allegedly highly rated by who exactly... err... umm... Tony Pulis & Ricky Lambert? BG had a sub-optimal CV and he was pipped to the post by GC. To be fair, at the time this was the right decision by the Board. Garnerball post-DC would have seen us relegated, of that I'm sure. I contend BG finally landed the job based on a personal relationship with someone at Board level. How else could his CV magically float to the top of the pile. I have no proof of this, but can't think of any other reason why we gave him the job. A wasted year, and as others have said, now comes the tricky bit. We have a Garnerball squad. Do we re-build the squad and change the footballing philosophy? Or do we bring in a footballing alchemist who can turn this under-achieving squad into promotion challengers? There may be trouble ahead.

Garner came from left field, no one had heard of him, obscure credentials, last job in India May 2019 before joining Rovers, he's getting it in the neck now, but some of the responsibility must fall on the people who appointed him in the first place. Anyway its probably the least of our worries, someone somewhere will be trying to retrieve £30 million of debt the club has spent over the last 4 years. I see the charge is still in place on the Mem.

Should call it Jerusalem, that's got four quarters, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Palestinian, no confusion then about what quarters.

I wonder if Liam Scales was the catalyst to the breakdown between Coughlan and the owner. It looked as if he was a shoe in to sign in July 2019,but Coughlan was made to look foolish especially back in Dublin after alerting the press the player was joining Rovers.I don't think Coughlan held back as an individual if upset or let down and probably spoke his mind, can't believe as Starnes tried to portray the day after he quit that he had rung Starnes asking for his job back on the Sunday morning. Now what are we left with, a youth team coach, not a manager, who is controlled by the owner, has had no influence with who has joined the club over the last three months apart from probably Daly and Koiki. Booted out the one player that could impose himself in midfield rather than the present bunch of choir boys. Ask the question yourself and answer it honestly, name any other club in the EFL who would have appointed someone as manager who hadn't worked at any club for seven months before joining Rovers and even then that was assisting Steve Coppell in India, just check out the standard on Youtube. Add the fact he has a never played the game or managed at any senior level of football it doesn't fill you with confidence going forward. I'm afraid I'm not so optimistic, Coughlan came across as bully but at least we were 4th in the league and looked as if we were going to give it a right go in the second half of the season and probably would have made the play offs. Only time will tell but all the signs for me are pointing in the wrong direction.

There is no doubt Garner is very smarmy and cocky in his post match interviews regardless of the result. If you want some fun you can award yourself points for the number of times he touches his face during an interview. 10 points every time for touching his ear, 20 points for his cheek, 30 points for his lips and a win bonus of 40 when he touches his nose. You can award yourself a bronze star for 50 points, silver for 70 points and gold for a 100 points. Much more interesting than listening to his drivel.

I'm not sure how he can become a legend what I read last week in an interview the owner gave is that we are going to sign Premier League and Championship cast offs, allow Garner to coach, develop and polish them as players, then sell at least two a season for millions to effectively make the club sustainable. Meanwhile Rovers become the Mary Celeste of DIv 1 doomed to remain there forever, no ambition for promotion and at best avoid relegation.

I think you will find the Garner connection was cemented by Wael's easily flattered ego and easy access on social media allowing Garner to self promote himself. Add a touch of what Vertigo suggests and there you have it, control and influence over a manager who's last job until being shown the door was in Calcutta 7 months before he got the Rovers job. Mother Teresa would have got more wins for us in 23 games, as for the next manager, don't hold your breath, the CEO will go for Derek Adams, Gorringe for Liam Rosenior and Wael for much the same as now, in house with Mansell and Maher to try and save us from relegation. All of them like kids in the playground jostling for some influence over the new manager, the place is a shambles.

You can't but help but feel that Garner is not in control, he is not his own man. He was appointed as he is controllable, he didn't even murmur when his get out of jail card was sold beneath him days before the season kicked off. He has obviously been told to be upbeat and put out positive comments after every game which makes him look very foolish at times, loyalty is what employers will eventually feck you with and he is well on course for that eventuality. Can't see Garner ever getting a job in full time football again, he will go back to where he was found giving mentoring lectures, taking diplomas and motivational speaking, a footballing periphery guru . I think even his replacement will again be someone already on the staff who will be another under control.

I don't buy into last season wasn't his team, it was, he took on the job of Bristol Rovers manager. He has been in charge for 21 games, worthy point yesterday but it was like the Alamo, Sunderland are notorious bad starters on the opening day. Ipswich at home next Saturday becomes a massive pressure game for Garner, even a blindfolded owner can't remain blindfolded for ever. People think October fixtures will be easier, I'm not so sure they will be.

If the charge is triggered it does become a concern to all of us though, Starnes never replies to emails, if you get the chance to ask him face to face he says he never received it. We are all shareholders as fans, there should be no reason for the club not to be more transparent.

I'm sure not lifting the charge on the Mem is a "cock up", that would be a big oversight, at Companies House it's still in Dwane Sports name, that's headed by Hani, so does that mean he still holds the trump card. If not, then why hasn't the charge been lifted.

Are you the Elon Musk of Bristol, an hours worth of dental root canal work would be less painful than an hours zoom call with you. Disappearing up your own backside springs to mind with these rants you post.

He was a presence though, scored goals and was a physical handful to mark. Don't hold your breath about a replacement coming in, we are over the squad limit now with players, Ogogo and Bennett haven't found new clubs, they will have to be paid off.

Completion statement for Bristol Rovers (1883) Ltd was filed on 10/8/2020 at Companies House, shows all the shares now held by a dummy, very unusual term to use unless your covering up something. Dwane Sports Ltd still have a charge over the Mem, it doesn't appear the holiday brochure statement made last April was accurate that the club was debt free. Not sure anyone at the club would be brave enough to give a straight answer, turnover of people at the club is bad enough as it is.

When they said they've budgeted for the next two years, one concern I had was whether they've included hypothetical big money player sales into their budgeting? As they seem to believe Ben Garner is some sort of wonder coach. Who knows what/how they have budgeted, but I would like to believe Martyn Starnes is a better accountant then that and isn't going to blow smoke up Wael's ass I would imagine there are a few forecasts based on no fans being in attendance to 25%/50% etc as to what the financial implications to Wael will be Its difficult to understand how you can set a budget for two years, you can calculate a figure for costs because you control that figure, how can you arrive at a figure for income when everything is so uncertain and changes every day. Shortage of cash coming into the club must be a massive headache, is that why season tickets have gone back on sale today. What if playing behind closed doors takes us through to next year, are the job preservationists hanging on in there for as long as they can before the proverbial hits the fan.

Very good communication though from their Chairman, at least their fans know exactly what the position at best is likely to be. Thankfully we have been told by our CEO that we have a budget in place until April 2022, we might not watch much live football until then but at least we are financially safe.
