King George (VII), in his golden jubilee year, wheeled there by his grandson. Oh you cynic! And from a man intending to reward his mercenaries for invading Somerset, with bits of Swindon.

Well remembered, Womble - wait for more news on that front once the Euros are over!

I appreciate that you may not have seen the inside of a gym since the 1970's but please accept my assurance that in the 21st century this is what the outside of one looks like.

And I can assure you that, having just constructed one myself, this is exactly what the outside of a modern garden machinery / tool storage shed looks like.

If that structure really does contain training facilities it will be worse than disappointing, that'll be on a par with our tents for stands. I've just put up a 4 meter x 8 meter store for sit on mowers etc, not Chinese quality, well built thing, the base cost a couple of grand and the building itself was just under £5k.

The central part of the building contains a gym (20m x 8m). The closer section contains the physio room (8m x 5m), the portacabin is the physios’ office. The use of permitted development rights to convert the building seems perfectly reasonable to me, plenty of private gyms use exactly the same construction technique (concrete raft foundation, steel frame, metal cladding). I do have reservations about the standard of the internal finish, and the use of a second roller shutter door as the entrance, which is neither energy efficient or attractive, is odd. The interview with the now departed George Williams, gives what is as far as I know, the only public view of the interior.

These are used as a value for money option when there's no need to invest in a standard construction building. That is not a construction that's in line with my notion of what would sway a professional athlete to chose one football club over another. This is just a stop gap until the actual gym is built, then it'll revert back to what it is, a cheap metal store / workshop, surely?

It is a standard method of construction for light industrial/warehouse buildings all over the UK. Many private gyms use them. I doubt the construction method of a team’s gym is particularly high on a footballer’s list when it comes to choosing a club. There is no apparent intention to replace the gym, or it would have been included in the proposed extension to the clubhouse.

I was s little worried when i openned the attachment and found an archive picture of the top tourist attraction in Botswana. If you look closely you can make out three tardus's from Dr Who @1963. along with three giraffes and two waterbuffelo and a partridge in a pear tree!

Some photos of us training, including the gymnasium.
Does anyone wish to critique the roof, the equipment or anything else people can think of?

Is that three ' Johnny On The Spots' I can see outside ? Are there no toilet facilities within this structure ?
Looks like a Kingspan composite panel fioxed vertically to cold rolled rails on the gable end, not too keen on the colour scheme, should of been Juniper Green to blend in with the surrounding envoironment, looks like a pretty piss poor effort to me but if it does a job and serves Rovers well then I suppose that will be all that matters to the football club.

I don't like the clock, the medicine ball is too big and the blue rollers a tad too short.
I have no idea what the maintenance agreement is on the equipment, but let's hope the service supplier is not located in Merseyside.
