I thought we played composed confident team football against a strong streetwise Hull side. When hull were behind they were very hungry, they didn’t like it one bit. The first was a free cross as tutonda took too long to prevent it. At 1.0 and 1.1 the games was open, before their second we were on front foot, we protested long and hard about their second, I think it was more than a spin to unlock us. And the third an insane back pass desperate to get the ball forward with additional time over.
We played decent mid table football tonight against a side to finish top 3 imo. The officials done us no favours, but then that may be hulls streetwise experience against our green horns.

BG will put some kind of spin on that Westbrooke miss. "2-1 and who knows what may happen?" We would have lost something to 2, that's what. Think all 3 subs of Hull scored, just shows the tactics, timing and available players. Our defence should be declared a charity on tonight's showing.

The best team won. No complaints. Tutonda went AWOL for the first and downhill from there. Fair play to BG bringing on Messi and not being defensive, but to no avail. The officials did us no favours (first 20 mins after HT), but that didn't effect the result. Baldwin. Crikey. We dust ourselves down and move on. We've been here before...

We've been here before... “Tutonda went AWOL for the first” is it a lack of discipline he pops up everywhere, even right wing, so fails in the job he was sent out there to do? Or an opportunity based on his rangey running and ability to intercept and tackle, I think Tooty can do the Grant role better than Grant. It will be like Carlton Palmer screening the defence.

I love Tutonda. He just needs to practice his defending and remember what position he’s playing in

Tutonda is a good player who needs to add discipline to his game. Westbrooke still impresses me but feel Messi should start soon instead of McCormick.

I love Tutonda. He just needs to practice his defending and remember what position he’s playing in maybe discipline not Toots natural game at fullback or wingback. Gary Mabbutt played in ten positions for rovers, when he went to spurs and quickly in national it was as here there and everywhere central midfielder. Especially as playing 3 in midfield. Give Grant a spell oN bench get tooty in the middle.

They were the better side and most likely will at least be one of the top 4/5 in the division this year. We are clearly not there yet. Not a disaster but we were never really in this apart from their headfart that gifted us an early lead (which to be fair Daly took very well I thought). Had we taken our 2nd chance it could have been a very different story as that would have been a sickener for them. As it is they worked us over, knackered us out with possession and took their chances quite clinically on the whole. Hard to argue with the result.
Some people have had a go at our full backs. I think they were overworked tonight because our midfield couldn't hold Hull and so were constantly facing 2 on 1 battles 30 yards from goal. Most would struggle in that situation. For me it was our midfield that couldn't really get into the game tonight and was outmuscled which will expose us outwide because that's the weak point in our shape if we concede the ball coming out (as we did time after time again). Dare I say that we could have done with an Ogogo type out there today. But ho-hum, BG clearly wants to play this way so if we want to progress into geniune contenders we are going to have to devise a way of getting on the front foot against the better sides who are more physical, attacking, pressing and less willing to sit back.

That's not the first time we've conceded late on when McCormick's gone off. He was subbed on 72 and they scored on 76. He's a vital component in the engine room, tasked with the job of keeping it tight and keeping things moving. He's good in the tackle and has excellent close control.

That's interesting, I keep scratching my head about him, but pleased to read messages of what more I should be looking for. I feel the set up will not bring chance after chance, but crucially we need a more dominant centre back. id bring Alfie back in, as Baldwin worries me, if our left wing back is better supporting midfield than defence.
We have the makings of a good squad and team, its bringing it together. I am definitely in the camp of sticking with this and watching us improve with experience, belief and know how.

Posting blind so will read other comments after.
I thought we played quite well and deserved to not win. The difference was Hull's strength in depth and you can see how they drew themselves into the match, they will be there or thereabouts at end of season.
It is somewhere near where we have to be to aspire to be successful in this league, and it heartens me we competed with them easily for large parts of the game.
Another great seized opportune goal from Daly, that looked to run himself all match.....ably assisted by Hanlan whom I thought naivety trying the 'Ellis of old trick, come on ref?' and ending up on grass more often, it wasn't his fans but credit to Hull for keeping him and our win backs relatively quiet. But, Daly...?.... he's liking himself to be the instinctive finisher we've craved for so long. I like the blend with Hanlan, this promises to be a great partnership and it's no coincidence our uprise in form and results align with their starting inclusion..
I liked Westbrooke contribution, and Grant, McCormick flitted in and out and was rightly subbed bit too late imo..
Jaak sound as always, particularly liked the horizontal punch out into the centre circle!?
Two mentions.... Harries, as much as he appears to cover and work well with Tutonga, he definitely appears to have a sliced mistake in him!? And Mike Baldwin? What was he thinking of (probably Deirdre?) with kamikaze defending at the end?
Ok, so a match we lost and the better team won....but BG should take some positives that we didn't roll over, had opportunity ourselves and generally looked quite useful. If we can man mark better and not pass to the opposition on cusp of our own box, it might have been a different result....but as a stand alone match we can take pride we competed and done ok it just wasn't our night...
Well done over all.
