The comment ‘ as high up the table as possible’ from Ben Garner suggests to me that January could well be a massive change in direction towards playing our younger players. I certainly expect the Al Qadi’s to cash in on JCH, the fraud was back to his worst on Saturday and Bennet is surplus to requirements. Little by name little by nature he should avoid the door hitting him in the arse on the way out. THD limped past us on the way in on Saturday I fear for his career into what is the third year of this injury. As for incoming the only light at the end of the tunnel is a train coming in our direction.

Steptoe, you didn't receive 'The Book of Sunny Optimism' for Christmas, then.

Why are so many of us not accepting this guy is a fraud, a well intentioned fraud but none the less a fraud. He's appointed a choir boy as his manager, why because he can control him, nothing is going to happen in January, the till is empty. 6 months ago he took it upon himself to announce the fruit market as our guiding light for a new stadium, his live radio rendition on that famous day in Blackpool last August was juvenile and laughable, so much so none of us believed it at the time, but we knew what he was attempting to achieve, love me love my dog, that was the last we heard about it. He once said if he wasn't wanted at Rovers he would go, sunshine, I think after 4 years throwing all of us under a bus you have convinced the silent majority you are not wanted, please make way, we will soon forget you as an individual but never forget what you promised and couldn't deliver.

I tend to agree, and I am just wondering if Coughlan's outburst of 'taking us as far as he can' was actually well measured bearing in mind that he probably knew that Jan would not present any cash for players and JCH would likely be departing, Tommy, Victor, and Tyler would not score enough goals to keep us on a high. So he believed he left taking us as far as he/we could go. Initially I thought his move was family related, but as the weeks creep by, I am more of the opinion that it was to do with lack of support, direction, spending and belief in our powers on high for the month's ahead, the Mansfield job came up like a crossroads, and he took another direction.

Bit dubious about the jumping in at Mansfield as a life line, as it seemed the timing was a bit out,GC virtually announced his intentions before Mansfield had announced the departure of their then manager

Garner appears different to Couglan, agreed there. We'll see.It is only one game so far.You could be right, but Couglan managed this group to the promotion fight and if Ben has learnt from Pulis,Warner and Holloway you could be forgiven in thinking he can at least keep things ticking over.On the flip side yeh it could all go wrong,a la Lincoln City after the brithers left for Udders. Seems to me it's vital he gains the respect of the players ,I know, stating the obvious. I'm loving seeing us in the promotion race,so I'm still remaining optimistic, although I do realise by the end of January things might look bad. Or good.

I think it was an easy choice for Coughlan. (1) More money and better, longer contract (2) Owners who are geographically present, invested, capitalised and can make on-the-spot decisions (3) Geography and the hours saved (4) Gut Instinct. We may be a higher club with a greater profile but that means more to us than it would do for Coughlan.

Three points cover third to tenth, seven points second to twelfth.
So couple of results could mean a large movement of position and meltdown.

Sounds as if Gavin Reilly is coming back from Cheltenham in Jan. I'd be OK with that. He seemed to know where the goal is and was never given a decent run in the side. It must have been shattering for him to have been shoved out on loan and considered a worse option than Nichols. To come back from that utter humiliation shows a great strength in character. Reilly: 8 goals from 46 appearances over the last 2 years. Nichols: 4 from 90 (actually think that might be 91 now).

At least two of them won't get any game time if everyone stays fit so I'd imaging we'd be returning at least one of our two loan strikers assuming we're paying their salary. Nichols' effort yesterday was great instinct and it was a shame it bounced off the underside of the bar. According to Footystats.org he has 4 goals in 24 games this season in addition to 3 assists.

I only took league goals... Nichols played a couple of decent balls yesterday. He was also caught in possession a few times and never looked like scoring. As always. His "instinct" would appear to be to fail to stick the ball in the net when faced with a clear goal-scoring opportunity. As always.

Quite likely not a target, but if he was to be,Kurtis Guthrie of Stevenage looks worth taking a chance on.He's a striker.

Will we need a keeper? Short term. I have to say I don't particularly rate our Dutch GK.

Victor on way back to Barnsley. This making way for Reilly? If Reilly plays he cant go out again in the EFL.

Matty Taylor is wanting a move from BS3. Would be great to see a natural goalscorer back at the Mem.
