That's a confusing post title - I thought John Still was back and just about to replace our out-of-favour manager.

Has anyone an idea of when Davies and Hare will be back? And is Holmes-Dennis fit enough to ply well?

Hare was a revelation. His crossing wow. Holmes Dennis is different class but always injured. Our defence was better with Davies in it. Manager could have moved Bennett on to Swindon at least, but chose to keep paying his wages whilst not putting him on pitch. It may seem a mistake, but the 5 3 2 wing backs don’t suit wingers. So do we need to bring in wingers if we keep this formation? If bennet and his wages free up, how can we use that to improve 🤔

Realistically if we're going to persist with this narrow defensive minded set-up then that is the type of player who could actually make a real difference and might even make us better to watch too. I hesitate to say the name but a John-Joe O'Toole type of player would help us a lot (though not actually him obviously).

Maybe trying to do a deal with Swindon offering Bennet and Nichols for Doyle in January ! Yes Doyle is playing very well but as he’s on loan from Bradford I’d imagine they’d want him back to help them go up, not Swindon. But yes, he would have been a very good signing esp in Summer 2018 when we were struggling for strikers and Doyle was available. UTG!

So what players may be available to come in? It doesn’t need to be a fee, January can create some loan till end of season purchase then type deals. Also loans. There was talk of a loan from rangers at one point? I agree on the driving from midfield suggestion, though sercs and Clark May pipe up and say, that’s our job. Maybe there is not much back up to them. I’ve always been a fan of Matt Crook. Is he currently at MK?
It’s sort of exciting. We are where we are in table withoutvfeeling that good, but both Daryl promotion felt the same but the football and performances woke at Christmas.

I still shudder when Ollie brought in Robert Wollaston and Jordan Stewart for the playoff charge 20 years ago and it backfired massively.

I hope Bernard Mensah and/or Gavin Reilly gets released in the transfer window so maybe we can free up wages a bit.
