Telling us something we already knew, an EFL-wide study revealed:
Bristol Rovers fans have called for the club to improve communication after being given a zero rating for transparency and ranked in the bottom 10 per cent of clubs for engagement in the EFL
The club rank 83 out of the 92 clubs in the Fan Engagement Index, an EFL-wide study into communication with fans, with Rovers' dialogue and governance also deemed below par.
Rovers were one of 27 clubs to graded zero for transparency, prompting calls to make more information available to the paying public.
...but...
The club believe the study "doesn't tell the full picture", but accept 'there are always ways in which we can improve".
The report urges clubs not to treat fans like "mere consumers or users of a service", but instead "look after the people who make the game special".
...and...
Bristol Rovers Supporters Club has called for the club to increase transparency.
Its spokesman said: "We are very disappointed with the outcome and trust that the football club's executive takes note and is able to improve the communication with supporters.
"The fans want to know what is happening to the future of the club with regards to a new stadium and a new training ground, both of which have been promised but nothing concrete has happened since the UWE project fell through."
In addition to being handed a zero out of 80 for transparency, the Gas received a score of 15 in both dialogue and governance – putting the club on par with Cardiff City.

What a daft thing to say when they have Masters, who has direct access to the board room, and, as far as I can tell, put up zero resistance to the club ignoring the terms of the Share Scheme legal agreement which I believe entitles us to 2 full Directors. I've searched the internet and scoured the SC website, nothing there from Masters complaining about this issue. If our representative isn't being given correct access then either stop collecting money, withhold payment to the club, or at the very least write to the remaining subscribers and explain the situation to them. More hopeless governance under Jim. I wonder if some eager young whippet, and they are out there, just look at people like Tommy, could either kick the SC back in to shape or put in place a proper media platform that would get the attention of these owners?

I wonder if some eager young whippet, and they are out there, just look at people like Tommy, could either kick the SC back in to shape or put in place a proper media platform that would get the attention of these owners? The club have been actively disengaging with the SC and, if what many have said is true, then the owners have even told club employees to not engage with Ken or any of the SC people. I think it’s plain to see that many longterm and loyal supporters have been let go and plans are in place to take on the away travel and more. To be honest, I’m surprised we are not bottom. Wael could not keep away from the media, in his first full season and now we get coded nonsense or nothing at all. Al, of this leads to the feelings of not being a part of the club and in having some longterm supporters, stay away In normal circumstances you would think the club would issue something, to counter this but I’m not holding my breath. I just feel an overwhelming sadness that the club I and many many others have loved, is now a place with sometimes toxic atmosphere and not somewhere that I would take a friend, who wanted to take in a game. Very sad indeed

My word for today is disenfranchisement. My Scrabble score calculator says that's not a valid word. You lose a go.

Surprised we are as high on some of the scores. Cardiff City are sitting in a new stadium, recently watched top flight football, and feel unhappy with their lot. We on the other hand have been cast adrift/aside and feel so far from the club we have supported all of our lives. It is quite extraordinary, and somebody mention Geoff D, at least he really cared for the club. It certainly feels like those pulling whatever strings they are pulling, don't care much. I will always hope, but I would be amazed if anything good comes from this ownership. From such a high to this. I cant use tragedy, but it certainly feels very hurtful. Some of my colleagues who support 82 don't even talk to me any more about Rovers. How sad is that.

If one can be disenfranchised, then surely the position one then finds oneself in, is one of disenfranchisement? To hell with your Scrabble score calculator. I demand Rachel Riley gets involved.

As I understand it BRSC are now giving money to the Women's team and not BRFC which explains the relationship breakdown. Don't expect the Womens team to be playing Bristol City anytime soon mind you.

No it doesn't explain the relationship breakdown. Jim carries a large part of the blame for that with his petty outburst around the Daggers game. Then we had 2 hopeless Fans' Directors, neither of which the owners saw any merit in engaging with, that's a failing of the SC and the FC. The SC ran 199 so badly that the FC had no option but to take that part of the retail operation back 'in house'. These are some of the things that caused the breakdown in the relationship, it's nothing to do with the SC sponsoring our Ladies' team. BTW, 1982's girls set a new record on Sunday. Biggest ever defeat in the history of the WSL. Congratulations to all involved.

The AQ's are clearly deliberately obscuring intentions and treating fans as merely consumers. This is a fair criticism. However, on the other side of the coin there is also an issue with fans representation.
The SC has always been an effective money raising and administrational body but it's never been effective in actually representing the views of Rovers fans to the owners. During the Higgs regime when many wanted it to adopt a more critical stance that reflected growing discontent among many in the fanbase, it instead became a cheerleading body for the board. It has clearly been trying to re-position itself to a more critical stance towards the present owners but it's not credible or effective in that role and is therefore easily dismissed.
If the SC does control of away travel arrangement it is difficult to see what purpose it has anymore.

That's not a fair criticism. For several years, leading up to 2006 it was highly effective doing this.

Why sections of the ground are closed for certain matches would be a good place to start.

Please do ban me from your stupid Scrabble club, I don't want to play with chiselers anyway. Chiseler. Noun. (plural chiselers) One who uses a chisel for carving. (informal) A cheat; a swindler; a con artist. Which one (or more than one) of these am I exactly? No grounds for a ban IMHO, though of course I would defer to that decision to the Mods.

Anybody attempting to use a 15 letter word in scrabble is a cheat in my book.

I think this study is biased and ignores an important point:
These things take time.
