Credit where it's due...
"The EFL has announced the winners of the Grounds Team of the Season award for 2018/19 in each of the three divisions. The awards recognise the importance of the quality of pitches for professional football and acknowledge the clubs and their ground staff who consistently produce the best playing surfaces in the EFL. In Sky Bet League One, Bristol Rovers' ground staff take top honours for the excellent surface at the Memorial Stadium. Doncaster Rovers, Sunderland and Wycombe Wanderers are highly commended. The EFL's Grounds Team of the Season Awards are determined initially using marks from referees and away managers for each Sky Bet EFL game and are then followed by detailed pitch inspections and a review of management operations. These visits were carried out by Dr Stephen Baker, Head of Sports Surface Technology at the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI)".

I watched the development match on tuesday from the heights of the east stand and the pitch looked fantastic. Great achievement considering a full season bar one match has been completed.

And what they "inherited"! Agreed, also, it's not an easy pitch to maintain because of how damp it always is at the north end. It's easy to forget the disgraceful mess it's been in previous seasons. Well done to everyone involved, including the team of volunteers who give their time freely, not just on match days, to help keep things in good order. Those volunteers were maybe more important in previous seasons when the pitch was a mud bath and we had idiot contractors working on it, I don't know for sure but suspect that without their help games would have been in serious doubt on more than one occasion.

It's an amazing award when you consider the (lack of) resources compared to other clubs in our division.
Well done the team, that keep a modest profile. Do you think now the club can do something to help the top guy's health issues?
Anyway, I would have thought easy to maintain as we haven't played much football on the pitch this season?
I bet the air quality award above the pitch wouldn't go to us giving that the ball is usually in it.
Lastly, how ironic DC berated the pitch condition last season, rightly so, and it was a catalyst to the leaving of a certain member of staff....yet throw the time machine ahead 18 months, and we have a perfect pitch and have an unenviable potential record breaking worst record on it!?
The joys of being a GasHead...
