42 games played 4 to go ….two away and two at home ….you never know
DC 21 fl games =17 points 0.8 points per game GC 21 fl games =32 points 1.52 points per game
Of course the decision to replace DC just before the Sunderland away game was a shock to many and was unexpected. GC has proven so far to have improved our away record secured a sensational striker and made us more difficult to beat. Discuss

If we stay up coughlan will deserve high praise for achieving that goal. He would then deserve the chance to start next season as manager and try to push the club on with whatever playing budget he is given. I detest the negative anti-football we have been playing under coughlan and will be watching carefully to see our outgoings and inbound players before deciding if i will renew my season ticket at the more expensive price.

That's a fair comment. Coughlan has accrued 32 points in the same space as DC had in league games (DC had 21 games and accrued 17points). If you continue GC form consistently, that would take us up to 7th with 64 points in line with Peterborough United and 4 points off play off.. The mem would be sold out. A season ticket would be the only way to ensure you saw every match. As ever, we'll see next year....but cr@p football or not, the mem will be sold out if we are winning.

My honest opinion is that our 10th place finish under dc will not be improved on for a very long time but hope i am very wrong.

The outcome is the issue not the means. G C has gotten hold of what was a fractious bunch of individuals including clapped out journeymen like Rodman, Payne and others that couldn’t give a toss and were certainties for relegation and turned them into fighters rather than grovellers. I expect to see a mass culling of the turgid crap infesting the place come the close season and the building of a side capable of far better next year.

GC has more importantly got J C-H going as this has been his best season (really half).

To be honest the previous season post Christmas the writing was on the wall with 4 wins in 21 games. DC should have gone a few weeks earlier, I believe his knowledge and contacts at league 1 were not very good, especially looking at his "league" one signings. One goal Nichols and Payne are two, you can then add our 2 goalies, both of which barely reach the "average" level.

This thing about league one contacts i mean. What sort of contacts would daniel stendel the barnsley manager have in league one? Or jack ross at sunderland? Nathan jones had success at luton and had a similar playing career to dc. What about marcelo bielsa at leeds ? did he know which players were needed in the championship. Recruitment in the western league probably still relies on contacts but full time professional football has moved a long way on from that.

Personally I think it was more down to the fact you can say and do the same things for a certain period of time at a football club before it gets a little stagnant. There's no set period for this but I think DC is a manager that relies on momentum. Once he gets going its hard to slow him down until his resources do. I don't think he's a tactical genius, incredible at making signings, I think he's a manager that backs himself to get the best out of hard working players.

I wouldn’t attribute the term Anti football to GC & the way we’ve ground out the results the way we have. We’ve dug in, added a tougher edge to our game & away from home definitely played deep and to counter, but I’d save that term for the likes of Wycombe, Southend & the way those sides applied themselves against us particularly at The Mem. From what I read around the L1 forums it wasn’t just reserved for us for either.

I have found the football tedious under coughlan but if he keeps the club in league one he will deserve credit.

On today's showing can't see GC being in charge for as many games as DC.
That was awful. It was his chance to out out a team to win and give us food for thought for next season. And the showed nothing. Do I think he can give us a better team and performances next season, no. Happy to be proved wrong
