Going to agree with BSS' comment on Twitter, in that the kind of game yesterday will kill football. Why should I do a 200 mile round trip to pay to watch time-wasting, diving, players surrounding the ref, players collapsing to the ground for no reason and definitely the worst ref I have ever seen, and I've seen many shockers? It was getting close to players getting injured badly.
In the end it was probably the right result, we’ll never know what it would have been under a good ref.

Interested in eppingas' comment on "who do we complain to". We are football fans!& supporters. We are also PAYING CUSTOMERS. I would accept the 'authorities' would take no notice initially but if the complaints became a tsunami they'd have to eventually. They will argue it's just because a decision went against you. It is not - that ref yesterday was incompetent & lost control.

Golbourne well off the floor, studs showing, proper vile ‘challenge’, the yellow he received was laughable.

Shrewsbury.. What I saw yesterday was a team that in first half were very good at coming on to us, restricting our play, working hard and defending well. We had one good chance that Lines made by causing mayhem with a brilliant pass/cross in first half.
Unfortunately, when their first plan didn't work, they resorted to the kind of cheap tricks third division teams employ. It's a shame to frustrate the match with antics that were unbecoming of a team that had mixed it with the best a few weeks before. Of course that killed it as a spectacle for us fans, frustrated our team and management and made an extremely hard job for the officials.
Ironically, I thought both linesman done the best they could. The ref was woeful.
Having said that, we weren't firing on all cylinders. We seemed to be poor with the ball as in little forward movement and few outlets (you can credit Shrewsbury for that), but equally when we weren't in possession, they seemed to make their passes.
I thought their mid was very decent, and probably man for man in mid were better. I liked their 42 Grant whom seemed to find space in a congested midfield to make simple passes. I don't know what has happened to Sercs...he just isn't the same as last season and two chances inside the area could have seen the match up. Frustrating.
But that was the day for me. Alot of frustration. We didn't do enough to win, which is a shame not least because our immediate outlook is Pompey and Black Cats, and are propped up outside the relegation zone because of other teams' ineptitude.
Frustrating.
On positive note, JCH had an encouraging start to his Gas career, I like his presence on set pieces and he looks to run the last defender. Hopefully, a real handful in coming months for opposition defences.
As ever, we'll see....but a good sign is we didn't lie down and fart around with the ball when needed a goal, we had bite, enthusiasm and a hunger to win. That's what we will need much more if going forward to survive in this division and it appears GC is formulating a team to not just take a few batterings, but give some out.....so definitely a point gained.

Shrewsbury are appealing Edwards' red card. It was the only thing the ref got right in 90 minutes! The Shrewsbury manager is blatant cheat. And is also very stupid. Vile human being.

Shrewsbury are appealing Edwards' red card. I used to quite like them, we had a laugh before the Wembley final and their fans were OK afterwards. Going off of the club very quickly. Make your own mind up. Hopefully his ban will be extended, at least that way other footballers will be safer for a while! That's a leg breaker of a tackle.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind, the appeal failed, so the ref got one thing right, though for that tackle assault it was difficult not to. Three matches of watching Shrewsbury - that's punishment!

I would accept the 'authorities' would take no notice initially but if the complaints became a tsunami they'd have to eventually. They will argue it's just because a decision went against you. It is not - that ref yesterday was incompetent & lost control. You can write to the EFL directly at enquiries@efl.com I said nothing about bias - the complaint was about incompetence and total lack of control. The EFL will then copy & paste you the following bland response. I guess nothing changes unless a significant number of people complain about the same referee. See below "Thank you for your email. In response to your comments regarding match officials, while we are not always able to comment on specific individual decisions/incidents, in a general sense, the EFL receives numerous queries and complaints regarding individual referees/match officials’ decisions and their overall performance. We can advise that the performances of all officials are constantly monitored by way of club and match observer, match videos or DVD and footage received by the referee coaches. Matches are also analysed by the Referees' Manager, a referees’ coach and the referee and, despite the perception of some, match officials are most accountable for their performances and these can impact on future appointments.
We also appreciate how it can be frustrating as a supporter however it is important to note that it is very challenging for officials to spot every single incident that occurs on the field of play, whether this be due to the proximity of the ball to players, the position of the referee, or other players obscuring views of the officials. The human element of the sport means referees do also make mistakes during games, just like players (missing penalties, committing fouls, errors of judgement etc) and managers do on a weekly basis. With only one chance to view every incident, and no benefit of replays, the modern referee has a sometimes difficult task. In all situations the decision of the referee is final although, post-match Clubs do have the opportunity to raise any issues with the Referees’ Manager.
We trust that this has provided you with some further context around the development and assessment of match officials. Thank you for contacting the EFL. Regards, Jessica Crook Supporter Services Department EFL"
